  1. so its snowed and the crazy yahoo's out there on 85 played bumper cars this mornin and i didnt want to chance 70 miles of driving on the account that every1 else would be good drivers cuze i know they're not...so i went out this am to play around in my daily driver (the bug was just eating me away) and i will hopefully get the pix...but after doing some sliding around on the streets we went to check out my old rompin hole where they started building an apartment complex...and everything was good...got some flexs in and a small creek crossing and what not...then i came up on the big puddle...checked it and it wasnt anything i couldnt make it thru (or at least i thought) forgot my front skiddy isnt installed and the rear end got high centered and that was all she wrote...after using rocks locks and everything else around to get traction i had no success so i had to get pulled out by a HEEP cherokee he ended up in 4L and we synced up his short snatches with my rocking and finally got it out after about 10-15 mins...and then this wannabe redneck came up in his daddy's ford on 35s and was like man i'll cross it and i was like no u wont and he was like ure right...i'll get stuck...then drove over my rope and bout hit my buddies jeep so i gave him a piece of my mind... hopefully pix will be up soon...just gotta get my roommate motivated...only carnage that i saw was a bent brakeline on the rear end since i havent gotten around to a hitch on this truck... i should have swapped out my mud rovers for those crappy BFG ats as originally planned...
  2. vibrations...that is got to be one of the craziest phenomena's there is esp b/c they can disprove the facts...
  3. did you check your heat shields...i would be willing to bet thats what rattling...that or a cat or something like that... my 87s heat shields rattled at about 1200 and 2500 rpms the 95 is starting to get this too both on the pass side
  4. yes that is the way easy way to do it... also a $4.99 cheap pair of snap ring plyers with slide on adapters for 45 and 90 degrees from napa will make it easier...only advise for those is duct tape the damned adapters on the pegs so its managable and doesnt slide off the pins when u're trying to remove it... if you have manual (auto can work too but takes a lil more effort ie spin the wheel a lil ways then they click in and if u go the other direction too far they click out) lockers but you can lock the manuals and put ure wrench on the stud into the front axle and be sure to spin each side the correct way and use the LCA and front X member as a resting spot for the wrench and slowly turn the tire and it will help you greatly in busting those lil bastards free...
  5. doh...1 too many budweisers last night...
  6. i have in the channels as well and they keep my window from sealing so sometimes they rattle and you can hear the wind on the highway...but i like those much better than the tape on b/c they tend to fly off... i purchased my vent visors at autozone when i was 16 and they still look perfect
  7. 4 bolts plus the 1 to remove the tension on the belt...and i 2nd dont efff up the radiator...i did that but trying to pry on something and the srewdriver went right thru a set of flues..
  8. civic = tuned?...i've got a buddy who dropped his TA but it was for stability...he has raw balls plus tuning...he makes so much bank off of tuning tho...i wish i could have 500hp at the wheels...lowered or not i'd leave some1
  9. So...i was thinking... a double pulley set up on my 87 once its going...set up a 2ndary alt and air compressor on the same belt (rarely would use both at the same time) but could a ready welder not be set up with a boosted (bigger than the stockpathy's) alt..and even run a "plug" up to the front and rear bumpers so u could hook in and weld away? just a thought...
  10. no its just im lazy to go and buy 1 for the 95...the 1 off of wheelmans refused (with plenty of PB and TLC would not come out....so i just need to go and get 1 and install it...but thanks for the offer...if i get lazy i'l take u up on the offer
  11. well i just have a massive exhaust leak on my 95...my 87 has the 95 engine with the headers doesnt have a leak except for the lack ofo2 in the pipes
  12. TBI has no pickup compared to the MPFI...(prob about a 10-15 hp diff just based on what i felt driving the 2 more for the MPFI) thanks for the correction red...i've heard it called and called it efi for so long its gonna take a while to break it...
  13. man i have an 87 and a 95 and i was like what the hell are there plastic disks for and then upon further inspection i saw where the hooks had been broken off and realized how big of a PITA it is to keep the seat belt buckles above the seats...damn NC and passing their all passenger back seat seatbelt laws
  14. the 240 is fine...tacoma not so much but its not horrible
  15. also in my thread over yonder ways I posted a pic of the skiddy (in pick #13 the right back corner is the slightly bent corner)
  16. I was serious and im at about 90-95% done but i dont have the time to finish it up i will now that the gf is shipping out to cali here soon and the temps are going to be warming up...but unless you have lots of time to kill and a pretty broad knowledge base of how things work and how to rig things up then it'll be possible (i have these abilities esp the riggin) but its a really big task but that being said i'm glad i've done what i did and showed that its possible with time and will power that i could achieve what i wanted (95 dash and engine in my 87) but it ate is eating up my bank account but i mainly did it cuze i like to tinker with things and a lot of times they get put by the wayside due to lack of interest but this is my baby and she will sling mud again very soon (a lot more than what she did in the front yard which still hasnt grown back...doh) so for my job i had emotional attachment she was my 1st truck (well 2nd but i only had the other 1 for 5 days B4 it got totaled) and theres been some hella good lovin in the back seat and the gf cant wait to go wheelin in here again so if its what u wanna do then do it...but be weary that it will cost u lots of time and $ even with cheap parts (thanks 2 wheelman on my part) good luck on whichever route u take...
  17. I guess my question would be...do u want the TBI (not sure y u would) or the EFI...if you want to do a straight drop of the EFI engine it will be a touch more involved...but if u just want to be able to use the lower end of the engine 88 has it covered and of course do the typical changes B4 u make the swap...ie water pump, timing belt, cam seals, rear main and all that other crap
  18. kill all of the rust...get it mechanically sound...do a BL and a small susp lift...be done with it and get it back on the road...halfway thru the project it will become overwhelming... im about 8 months into mine (5 or 6 into the swap) and i've been on hold now for a month on getting a custom fab crossmember so i can finish installing the lift...then i still have about 2 dozen small loose ends to tie up...im just so ready to get her back going...
  19. i donno...but u can always call the dealer and ask them or even stop by walmart and they shoudl be able to tell u if they can copy it...if they can copy it then theres prob not a chip...
  20. what kinda carnage? if none u r 1 lucky person...
  21. i believe i have 1 that 1 of the front corners is bent...i could hammer it back strait and it would be perfectly fine...im going to upgrade mine on the 87 so im gonna swap it over after i drill out all of the broken bolts... PM me with what its worth to ya and i didnt really read thru so where u're located will drive shipping b/c its prob aobut 8-10 lbs...
  22. hmm very interesting folks...this is helping out a lot...so military personnel does that include Dod jobs (civilian working as a contract)...are there any exceptions for college students or residency? b/c I could always go back to school for a masters or another degree...im not planning on staying in cali for more than 3 years (if i end up for sure going) once i get there just till shes done her time we're(or at least I will) coming back east coast... im going to have to dig thru all of this...i really dont wanna go thru all this changing registration and license crap...esp cuze it'd be a pain to come back to NC so if u fail 2 times and u go pre smog whats that mean u have to pay a penalty or what? i would be around California City/Boron/Lancaster Area
  23. awsome...well at least it was simple
