  1. Have you removed the belt yet?
  2. For clarification, both the cam and crank seals are oil seals. If you are confident around an engine this job isn't bad, as long as none of the bolts break and you have proper tools. Also, as stated, be very sure to align the timing marks properly before removing the belt, good luck.
  3. Nice, how much and can you jack the truck up on the outside rail of the slider if you get hung up? The shipping is what stops me from ordering this stuff stateside, can't find anyone in the Kingston area that stocks any serious off road gear.
  4. mod, this is getting dumb, do me a fav and burn this thread, thks
  5. Want your tranny to last longer don't stomp on it off the line. As well, the trans will shift into a higher gear based on engine load, less load = high gear sooner, so letting off the gas will allow it to up shift sooner, if too soon, it feels laggy, normal. Shifts hard when cold, no idea why, nothing to do with coolant, be happy it shifts when cold.
  6. I have to agree that the brake/downshift thing could be real dangerous and I have been tempted, but would not go there, ppl can get killed reacting in a instant, possibly a head on with some poor family in the oncoming lane, better to sort them out face to face if you can. Reading this reminded me of a real nut bar in Montreal a few years back, I am in 3 lanes of traffic (far left lane) doing 140 kph, passing cars in my maxima, he rolls up behind with the hi beams so close I can"t see the lights, I ignore him, @!*% I am passing at a good rate. About 30 seconds later, wham, he rams me, ok, cruise off, dial 911, motion him to the side, he follows down to about 70 kph and then takes off. I follow, doing about 170, get his licence and wait for the QPP on the side of the hwy. The cop shows up, looks at the scuffed paint on my bumper, he had the plates run en route. Asks if I saw the face, I say no, just the plate and make, he advises it's a company car nad without a visual on the face, he won't bother following it up as no case, I ask, will you give me the name of the company, nope, have a nice day. So get a look at the face if you can but don't kill yourself doin it cuz from the looks of this trhread, no shortage of tards out there. Side note, yesterday a cab entered my GF's lane head on to get around traffic at an intersection, nearly killed her, she did a 180 and got the guys info, called the cops, careless charges laid. Today, she was going thru a green and some moron flew thru the red narrowly missing her and her kids, nuff said, be careful out there!
  7. I have had some winners on my a$$ as well, one guy stands out, he was tailgating me first thing in the morning, on my way home from my girlfriends place. Roads are slick so I am doing the speed of traffic, two lane hwy, leaving lots of room to stop if something happens ahead. After about 5km with this nob right on my tail, we come to a traffic light, he brakes way too late and has to take the shoulder on my right to avoid hitting me. I look at him as he slides up beside me and shake my head, head shakes his fist at me, I am starting to get a bit pissed with this bs, haven't even had a coffee yet. So we head on down the road and come to a long line up at the next light, my PO meter is pretty much to the right limit as he is still tailing me, so then he pulls his final move, gets out and starts walking to my car door, well that is when the straw snapped, he got a wee surprise as I had one hand on his neck and the other cocked to drop him in a heartbeat. He heeded my advise and got the f back in his car, something about an unshaven pissed of redneck must have changed his mind about whatever he thought I needed to hear because all he kept saying was sorry, lol, so yeah, that stuff gets me goin.
  8. Mine is a 99 so that's cool, thks again
  9. Hey dude, thks for the info, you sure about the no transponder thing, the manual states they do have one. Pg 3-2.
  10. Rubber fuel line is the easiest fix and as good as any other as long as your not in a high heat area.
  11. Ok, this will sound a bit weird, the area on my ignition key that is used to secure to a key ring has broken. What I want to do is drill a hole in the key so I can re-secure it to my key ring. My question is, will drilling the plastic area on the key damage it, I am under the impression that there is some sort of device in the key that is used to overcome the vehicle immobilization system, the vehicle is a 99 Pathfinder.
  12. Thks for the info, I would much prefer the redline, haven't located a Canadian distributor yet, will keep looking. WRT the throw out, it doesn't happen while the clutch is held in, only when moving the shifter, I had a trans mechanic take it for a drive, unfortunately it was warm at the time and all acted normal. If anyone knows a distrib for redline in Ontario Canada, would appreciate it, thks.
