  1. I've made the drive from MI to FL quite a few times in my life....its really not so bad! Will this be a winter trip or a summer trip? (lol, I just looked it up, you mean 2k round trip right? lol, I was like "damn! i had no idea it was that far!!) Get an oil change, and make sure to bring some extra fluids (i.e. coolant, wiper fluid, oil, tranny fluid..) Make sure your tires are good on tread, and that you have a adequate spare, ensure all are inflated properly before you leave Basic emergency kit...pretty self explanatory (even just one from walmart will probably suffice, + a plug kit and I'd suggest a small portable air compressor) Top off all your fluids, and I would check them periodically, such as when you get there, and when you leave. Make sure all your bulbs are working, and I would pull the tires to check on the brakes, to see if they are dangerously close to metal on metal.. If there is maintenance you have been neglecting, I'd take care of it before the trip.. Personally, I'd pack a medium sized tool box, just so I could fix anything that happens to break or fail on the road.. or just sign up for AAA! Its really not too bad, our old 97 chevy van made that trip 5 or 6 times easy, and although would usually break down the week before the trip, would always make it! and back then we really didn't think too much about "preparing" the car...luckily if something DOES go wrong, its not like you are driving to alaska, so there will always be someone around to help, and stores that you can buy parts/gas/supplies at in an emergency!
  2. x2 I bought a pair used, gave exactly 3" over stock, little soft for hauling say, 600lb of cargo, but definitely a comfy ride and used, I paid $45!
  3. I was referring to the indicator light that illuminates being on the right, but your diagram picture looks correct, as I remember the blank side being on the left.
  4. if it helps- by my description, the top of the switch has a molded plastic parts code/nissan logo or whatever, and the bottom has a PRINTED 12v and some other stuff...
  5. Wow! I'm hoping to spend a semester studying abroad in St. Petersburg, as I'm minoring in Russian! Keep us updated!
  6. It is closer than the stock, but if something hit most bumpers they would hit some portion of the body.. by swinging up, i.e. a deer. Anything else, i.e. tree or wall will not, as its 5x2 tube, which will NOT bend any time soon, and the bumper is the furthest point out of any point of the body. When funds allow, I'll be adding a stinger and some hella's for driving on back roads, to protect the hood from deer
  7. if you remove the switch, with the light rectangle on the right side- looking down on the top of the switch, light facing you and on the right- from right to left on the top is PURPLE, then YELLOW on the bottom row, underneath purple is GREEN
  8. most companies that can do vinyl stickers will be able to replicate the stock stuff, usually with just a couple minutes of photography/measuring involved... I know jeepers do it alot with the 'RENEGADE' stickers on their hoods when repainting older wranglers....
  9. This is when I wish my truck was less of a garage crawler!!
  10. Not necessarily, there ARE ways around it, i.e. cutting up some rad hoses and removing part of the fan shroud which may reduce your cooling abilities if you are in a very hot climate... Pretty sure I got one from 4x4parts.com laying around in my garage somewhere, if you're looking to save a buck
  11. Almighty... moved my CB to the back of my center console, screwed cup holders to the side of my CC, hammered my 4x4 shift oval into a bigger oval to allow me to use 4lo, put my 3+usb cigarette lighter under my stereo, and found out the black box that is currently under my stereo behind the trim, is the ABS module, and will have to move for me to utilize the extra pocket. I think I can just remove it....I don't really see the point in ABS when my tires just lock up anyways, otherwise I'll just move it behind the dash somewhere! whew!
  12. Wow, that bumper looks WAY better on the x!! much more tucked in and streamlined!
  13. If you're a fair fabricator/welder, I love my tube bumper (I used square tube and made a standard offroad bumper...not round tube) vs the plate bumpers such as an ARB..it wasn't too difficult, and is very functional. If you are not handy with a welder/grinder, http://www.kenmtnac.com/ makes bumpers for ours, although it is a 6-8 week turnaround and their customer service leaves something to be desired. here's a basic pic of my bumper, I can snap a better one if you wish.
  14. I bought hatch struts from autozone, (over 3 years ago) and they still work great, however the window struts did NOT work... I cannot comment on that ebay seller...
  15. If you want to risk the poor customer service, kennesaw mountain makes a nice looking front/rear bumper, although the current rear is not what it was a few months ago, it still looks good, and only $50 more.. beware, they have been bad with delivery dates, or so I've heard. http://www.kenmtnac.com/MCNissan.html Besides that, you got smittybilt, homemade, or trying to find something used to modify. The rear will be alot easier to find something to fit, but the front can be a PITA imho
  16. another discovery- When one wire or the other is connected(at the door switch wiring), everything works fine, but when I connect both, it malfunctions up the wazoo...I'm thinking it might just be a defective unit after all
  17. Just went out and multimeter'd the module lock/unlock wires... with the lock wire connected to the B/Y locking wire on the vehicle, and the unlock wire only connected to the + of my DMM= When I press lock on the keyless remote, it goes from 12v to 0v When I press unlock on the keyless remote, it goes from 12v to 0v with both disconnected, I get no signal whatsoever... probably useless, but confusing nevertheless..
  18. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/9004-Hi-Low-Headlight-Wire-Harness-Kit-Hi-Watt-HID-NEW-/160516153014?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item255f821eb6 About $35 shipped....looks pretty much like plug n play.. Considering relays are no less than $5 each, plus a good $20 in wire and connections...not too shabby really..
  19. Mine explicitly says built in door lock relays... I just really don't see how this isn't doing it...
  20. A friend of mine drinks those 15% energy drinks exclusively.....loves em...lol
