JohnMasters
I hate to post a thread regarding what should be an easy question. But... All of my searching, including Crutchfield, states that the 91 has 4X6 speakers up front but they appear to be round to me(either 4" or 5.25"). Am I missing something? Can a pair of 6.5s be installed in the doors without to much modification? Thanks in advance!
KovemaN
You can run 5.25" or 6.5". With the 6.5" speakers you will need a trim ring to raise the speaker so the magnet will clear the window.
94extreme
in my 94 they were round 5" or 6", iirc.
Steve_RI
I just put 6.5 polks in the the front door of my 92. These are pretty shallow 6.5's. I had originally intended to use these in the rear, so I had the mounting plate for the speaker boxes. I got rid of the speaker boxes so I used this plate for the front, which worked fine. You can also modify the existing plate/trim ring to accomodate a 6.5 speaker.
JohnMasters
Thanks for the quick replies! I think I'll pick up a set of 6.5" PPIs for the front and get rid of the 6X9 boxes in the back in lieu of a sub.

JohnMasters
I wonder if the different trim packages had different size speakers?

adamzan
In north America, they were 5.25 rounds for 87-92 and 5x7 oval all around from 93-95.
