What Annoys Me.

What really annoys me is when people ask for help to solve a problem, we give it and they can't be bothered getting back to us with what the problem actually was.

Boo Hoo, it makes this noise or that goes bang when I do that. Please help me blah blah blah, cry cry. We give our sometimes limited knowledge on what the problem might be based on what is conveyed. More often than not there are many different answers. FFS if you ask for help and the help did help say so so we can add to our pool of knowledge for future reference. Even if the help didn't help, post up what the problem was. Or is that too much to ask?!:suicide::rant2:

I agree 100%. We try our best with the knowledge we have to help people on the board. In some instances it might be a similar symthom with a totaly different fix. If no one answers "yes it fixed my prob" or "no it didn't" (although a no usually brings another question) we have to assume the initial prognosis was correct.

I know once a problem's been solved we all want to go try our mended pathy around the block, trail, over an anoying neighbour's car but, once you've gotten this out of your system, go on-line and .....

1. Thank the person trying to help you (still cheaper than a mechanics bill)

2. let us know what was wrong and if there were any variances in steps taken to fix, parts used, etc.

Yeah I know... you know what else is a pet peeve of mine? TAKE A WILD FUGDIN GUESS. It is when people like yourself (and others on this forum) rely on pix to describe every aspect of a single problem... EVER TAKE INTO ACCOUNT THAT SOME MIGHT SIMPLY NOT BE ABLE TO AFFORD A DIGI-CAMERA... or just don't have one at the time??? USE YOUR IMAGINATION FOR ONCE.

I know what this topic is spawned from, so try a little harder next time. All I'm tryin' to do is get some answers... and if you would've taken the time and consideration to read my last post that was published by your's truly (LOOK FOR IT>I'M SURE IT'S IN MY SIG under WRECKED) than you might have read something that would've deter'd you away from writing this post... WHICH BRINGS US TO A CONCLUSION... GET an IMAGINATION and quit relying on photos and "pop up pictures" if you will, to demonstrate the WORLD to your closed mind...

ouch! seems that there is a little hostility floating around. Anyway... in reference to the side topic (or the 'other' topic) here... Sometimes people use the 'this post is worthless without pics' not to be mean or to be lazy but to inquire if there is photographic documentation available to assist in the resolution. Perhaps someone should create a "Got any pics for clarification?" emo. I don't think Steve (correct me if I'm wrong) meant his post to be an insult directed personally at you or your ability to purchase or use a camera.

carry on... nothing to see here.

oh... and let us know how it works out for ya. ;)

Sometimes people just search the net for someplace appropriate to ask their question, then when they get answers they go home and don't see much need to come back. Or they simply don't get around to fixing it and there IS no resolution. Chill out. Jeez.

Wonder if V6 has an interest in trains? This exact same topic was posted on one of the train forums I frequent. It also got a wide range of answers. I liked this idea best:

I am not here to get pats on the back or to show off my superior intellect/knowledge. If what I post is helpful, then great but I do not need the poster to come back and say "Wow trainman what an awesome answer you gave me, all my troubles are gone!"

It would be nice to know when the answers are wrong or not helpful (with me that would be most of the time) so I can improve my knowledge but if they do not reply back, then so be it. It used to annoy me but I now know there are better things to worry about.

WOW TRAINMAN THAT POST WAS AWESOME!!

88, you are right, some people are only here for an answer... even so, if I''m the next guy with the same issue, it would be nice to know that Trainman's excellent suggestion actually worked, and that it wasn't just a dead end.

true. Not looking for praise here but there are several (at least) open symptom sets and it would be nice to know what the solution to those are so we can all expand our knowledge base and give constructive answers to newbies rather than guess and/or try to walk them through a diagnostic.

1. Search

2. Ask

3. If your question is answered, have a nice day.

4. If the answer is unknown and sever people hand-frucking-hold you through a frelling diagnostic Q&A and then you finally get lucky and stumble across the solution, POST IT.

'nuf said..... asshats

That's because the world revolves around them and we are only here to serve them.

Consider it a filter. If they care enough to respond later, then I will care enough to help them again the next time.

If they don't, I won't.

Hmm... we have the warning counter under our names... how about a "selfish ingrate" counter under everybody elses?

No one is talking about a pat on the back or who's right or wrong, I am looking to see the 'fix' of a problem. IMO, taking from the pool of knowledge but not putting anything back in it will only cause it to run dry. I would like to deepen it.

My wife annoys the hell out of me... yet another day of nothing accomplished around the house because she was baby sitting the grandson so the daughter could run around all day...

One of the boys, wont say which forgetting/not correctly cleaning his back side after going to the bathroom.... Do I really need to teach him how to clean it with a BRILLO PAD???? I promise he will never do it again...

Providing Transportation for the 18 year old so that the vehicle is safer than a 80 something escort and she wont take 10 min to change the oil after me ranting about it for 2 weeks.... It will take one of us to get it started again, something came up missing while she was in the shower, now shes crying because i wont go out and look at it...

All the kids in the neighborhood standing around the main Cable box for the street because they figured out they can tap the Comcast WI-FI with their Nintendo DS's.... I do give them credit for ingenuity...

Getting home and finding someone else vehicle parked in my spot in the driveway... god that is annoying... Im the one that is paying for the house and that includes the fking DRIVEWAY!!!

Going to grab a Mikes from the fridge in the garage and noticing that 12 of the 24 are gone.... I bought it last night and put it in the fridge, and had the 1 that was left over from the previous Case....

Guess it was just timing... :rant2:

Anything special about that? So I can teach my son and daughter how to do it with their Ds's :crossedwires:

Not saying you are. For the most part, this forum is great that way, we all seem to genuinely want to help without requiring any ego boosting. Some others I am on, some posters get very miffed if they do not get a big thank you.

BTW, the thread around this same topic on the train forum I mentioned earlier has been deleted, it just got too out of control so the mod deep six'ed it.

You missed my point mz. I am referring specifically to stuff like this. The urgency is is clear and the help came thick and fast, yet we, as a collective, are none the wiser as to what the problem actually was or even if it was resolved. There are hundreds of similar postings and it doesn't add to our knowledge base. I think it is just a lack of courtesy that people don't give the final resolve and I felt compelled to rant about it..
