Huh?

Re-count is already mandated here in Va. It's too close right now, 6K votes seperate these two idiots...though I did cast amy vote for one of them yesterday :aok:

Political Parties annoy the hell out of me. Repubs and Demos are no better than one another. Instead of fighting and finger pointing, shut up, work together and fix this mess. I've about had it with the name bashing and butt-hurtness. -thnkboutit-

The only wasted vote is a vote not cast...

It's ok dude, when I turned 18 I didn't have a care in the world for voting, much less politics and how they effect me. My priorities were focused on many "other" things :D

Voting here around Denver was a complete joke!! People were waiting for 4 to 4 1/2 hours. Mayor is supposed to meet with the "outside" group that came into town with the software and programs for voting. To make things worse colorado had one of the largest ballots it has ever had. Well this group came in with high hopes and lots of machines for ballots well....over 60% of them went down or froze up. This is why people had to wait so long to vote. The big problem is a pretty good majority of people waited for over an hour then had to leave due to things like school, work, kids, etc. So how many voters did not get a chance to vote???? Would it affect the results, I do not know but I sure have lost some faith in Colorado's voting system or whatever you want to call it. The worst part about it was last night I stayed up to see results, the news came on and immediately stated the problems that went on all day. Then they switched to a reporter that was on location in downtown where the majority of votes were cast. voting was supposed to end at 7:00 but since so many machines went down if you were in line when the voting closed you were given a ticket and still allowed to vote. Well it was like 9:05 and the reporter showe a few people still in line, then immediately they announced the winner of the governers race and started running the ticker showing what bills had passed etc, but yet there were still people voting!!! That was absolutey retarded. Sorry for the rant but I had to tell someone!!!

Huh?

Who is this "shrub" you talk of? Can you smoke it?

Always fun to watch American voting in action. What a system you have but as long as it works :aok:

I vote in every municipal, provincial and federal election, have since being able to vote. Has something to do with the history of politics in our family :P

ouch.. we had some issues here too but nothing like what i expected. the dry runs prior to elections sounded like we would have what you described but very little of that happened. the main thing was that my state turned from red to blue last night... wow!! double wow really. peeps kicked out some real scoundrels for a change.. about freaking time.. in 2y i sure hope the governor get's the axe too. he has a lot of folks pretty pissed off.

There's reports circulating here that (supposedly) the FBI is investigating allegations of voting pressuring.

I guess some people dressed up as "politicians" and paraded around the streets of Va. going door to door telling voters their registration was "invalid" and threatening them to vote for one or the other...

One of the news channels played a recording of a phone message that allegedly went out to thousands of voters who had registered as dems that they would be arrested if they voted...

If true, that would be disturbing. And stupid on the part of whoever did it.

I don't vote because I'm in North Dakota. If you vote republican, it doesn't matter because they will win by a landslide and don't need your vote, if you vote democrat, well, see republican reason.

Plus, to quote the mighty south park, "You're always going to have to choose between a douche and a turd sandwich." It always comes down to two asses no one really likes but you have to pick one if you want your vote to even remotely mean anything. A phrase I like to use is: "Our election system has come down to voting for the one you hate the least."

Sorry, I'm a little off topic.

And I think Bush isn't doing all that bad. The war on terror isn't going to end, it's just going to move around. People need to realize that. Plus, if we're fighting them over there, they don't have a lot of time or opportunity to attack us over here.

Ok, see, I agree with the voting for Douche or a turd sandwich...and unfortunately yes, I think that's what elections have come down to as well...and Political Parties are a huge reason that's so. Everyone wants the same thing in the end right? For the Country to be the best place it can be...just everyone has a different way to get it there and the "my weiner is bigger than your weiner" argument gets in the way. Who cares whose weiner is bigger anyways?

Iraq is geurilla warfare, plain and simple. Geurilla warfare, historically speaking, doesn't tend to fair so well (Vietnam??)

By a show of numbers in Iraq, sure, one can argue we're "winning" How many militants get killed everyday compared to US lives? That's a lame way to look at though. Geurillas cannot be beaten...wherever you aren't, they're there.

Sorry, I got a little off topic as well...my answer to the poll still stands at "huh?" though

You should change the third option to "I plead the 5th", MZ :aok:

I have to admit I tend to share the same opinion as the majority of folks outside the US...

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/15618695/

I love it when nails are hit on the head.

"assions were even higher in Pakistan, where Bush is deeply unpopular despite billions in aid and support for President Gen. Pervez Musharraf.

One opposition lawmaker, Hafiz Hussain Ahmed, said he welcomed the election result but hoped for more. Bush “deserves to be removed, put on trial and given a Saddam-like death sentence,” he said."

In an extraordinary joint statement, more than 200 Socialist members of the European Parliament hailed the American election results as “the beginning of the end of a six-year nightmare for the world” and gloated that they left the Bush administration “seriously weakened.”

I hear war crime charges are being bought against Rummy in Germany. Poor love! I hope he too gets a death penalty.

Too bad the democrats will not impeach Bush. We will have to wait another 2 years for that war criminal to be taken to task. I wonder if anyone will have the guts to charge bush for mass murder on 9/11 too?

So, hypothetically speaking, 1,000,000 Democrats did not vote in your state because of 'YOUR' reason??? I can't help but wonder what the outcome would have been if lazy do nothing can't be f*cked people actually got off of their arses and voted. Of course, it goes without saying that I don't want to offend anyone but your reason sounds like a copou,t and at best, a very poor excuse that simply doesn't make any sense at all to me. Explain your logic too me so that I and others like me may be enlightend.

Bush isn't doing a bad job? Letting the modern day NAZIS (Israel) run amok in Lebanon was a good thing? Lets not to mention...... also supplying the ilegal munitions that Israel used on thousands of inocent people. Letting Israel kill Palistinians at their leasure with US supplied weapons and and delivery systems? That's not a bad job? The Israeli's knock down Palistinian homes so they can claim the land as their own with CAT bulldozers too.. Killing people on 9/11 so Bush could blame Osama Bin Laden.... Then using 9/11 as an excuse, Bush set about invading a Sovereign country for no reason (oops, my bad....OIL!). That country is F*CKED now because of Bush's actions. Not bad at all!! How about Bush mouthing off and threatening half the world and calling them the "axis of evil"??? You have to be kidding? They've gone out and armed themselves with nukes to try and protect themselves from the bloke you say isn't doing a bad job. We will not mention New Orleans either, will we?

If you were not joking, then I'd hate to see what you think bad is.

I'm so tired of hearin "We're there for the oil". Sometimes it makes me sick that I defend peoples right to say stupid sh*t. Quite honestly, unless you have been over there, or somehow have the security clearance to actually know what's really goin on, your grasp on the situation is pretty much the equivalent of a two year old holding a bowling ball.

Oh yeah, because the hurricane was his fault, too, right?

Gee, how could a bit of wind be his fault?? Think about it! The buck stopped where again with regard to the clean up?? Sorry, what clean up. Where did the buck stop fpr the rescue effort??? Sorry again.... What rescue effort! Get a clue ffs. Oh, and Lebanon will be rebuilt (by supposed terrorists) sooner than NO too.

Vsicks, I think (and this is my opinion, OK?) you seem to be making "headline-based factual statements" that are based largely on news reports and coverage from people that apply a lot of opinion to their journalistic writings. I'd LOVE to know what the f*ck REALLY happened over there, what REALLY happened over here, and what DIDN'T happen anywhere, but the point is moot because I have to rely on biased news sources for all the info. Some are better than others, I know...but still. I don't trust what I hear anymore because I can tell that there are a lot of politically- and monetarily-based motives underpinning everything that we as the general world's public will never see or know about.

I support our troops, they don't deserve to be sent to that sh1t-hole. My 2 cents. Thank you for your time.

I hear what you are saying and tend to agree with you for the most part. Still, that does leave the question of why? We were all told why weren't we?

‘Pavelow Leaks’ said that it makes him sick to defend people that say stupid sh!t. That implies that I am stupid and what I said is sh!t. I have given him an opportunity to educate me. Though I know he doesn’t have a clue is irrelevant as it was he that made the call.

Further to this, his reply also implied that I was clueless on what is going on in Iraq and that I have the same limited knowledge as a two year old has of bowling. Though he did not specify what type of bowling ball (ie Lawn ,carpet, botchy or ten pin), I will assume he meant ten pin. He kinda strikes me as the type.

Again, he has the opportunity to educate me. I’d like for him to also stop assuming that he is defending me or people like me. We all have choices, some legal some not, some moral others not. He made his choice by the sound of it but it was not made on my or the majority of the worlds behalf. If he had of been listening then he would have known this. The amazing thing is, he still can’t hear.

As for you not knowing what happened over there? I think the USA, GB and AU along with some bribed tiny little insignificant countries attack a Sovereign country and destroyed it. Destroyed it on every conceivable level, not just the buildings and infrastructure but the spirit of the people too. That, in my opinion, is what happened over there. And the question still remains…. WHY?

Oh my gosh, you're one of THOSE people. Well, I now know I can't say anything to you because you probably won't listen. But I''ll give it a small shot.

Haven't you read/seen the various stuff going around that totally disproves videos like "loose change" point by point? Come on man, bush has done some not so great things but he didn't kill thousands of his own civilians just for a reason to start a war.

And as for the not voting thing. I voted last presidential election, and my vote didn't come close to counting. Bush won by a freakin landslide. Plus it always comes down to the one swing state where they actually count things like absentee votes (which normally don't even get opened) and pay closer attention to the actual votes. Our system is so screwed up with corrupt politicains on both sides, it just pisses me off and makes me kind of not care, sorry.

You've got opinions that I think are screwed up and I've got some that you think are screwed up and I still go to work every day to defend your (well, people that think the same as you, since you're in AU and I'm technically not defending "your" rights) and my right to them. That's why america is still great despite it's messed up political system. At least we can have opinions.
