I believe you are correct. Difference between the XE & LE, they are both like Silvapathy posted, the LE has a chrome surround, the XE gets a non-bling paint matched surround. -

I would be careful to double check the differences between the fenders (side markers), hood, and possibly even the bumper. They reshaped these parts even between the 99 and 2000 pathfinders.

AFAIK, the stock tires & wheels should fit. The reason people buy wheel spacers, or different wheels is to accommodate larger (and wider) tires.

I removed mine on a really warm day when the truck was sitting out in the sun. WD40 will get rid of sticker glue.

AFAIK, the bumper should be pretty easy to swap. Was pretty easy to take mine off (99.5), even when I didn't use a Honda Civic to do it. hehehe.. whoops. My guess is the grille will not fit, at least not without a lot of duct tape or crazy glue. LOL. That said, I do not know how the front of the 96-99's come off... the 99.5+ has a center piece. I know plenty of people who like to upgrade to burn your eyes out bright. Personally, I can't stand passing people who have done that.
