  1. I wouldnt say on all trucks its a problem but yes, oil starvation is a issue with the majority of 4x4s out there. Also, most 4x4s have larger oil pans then there 2 wheel drive brothers, mainly for added cooling capacity, since oil will thin out and boil. Other then that, its a 4x4, maybe the engineers thought it would wise to add a deeper sump in case of extreme decents, which is a good thing since the bearings in vg engines are aluminum.
  2. Most gear oils already has the lsd additive added to them. At least the napa brand does. Go with any decent 75w-90 and your fine. If your in a really hot area or tow a lot a then a 75-140 or so would suit you better.
  3. I want your guy. I paid 700.42 for my t-belt,water pump, cam seals and t-stat(this last item was never changed) And this was a horror story, my truck was gone for a month. November 14th to december 21th.
  4. Why are you always on my profile man?

  5. Probly the build up,when a valve seal is bad it just sucks some oil into the cylinder when the engine is shut off, unless that cylinders seals where complete @!*% since new.
  6. The knock coulda been the valve hitting that cylinder,it looks like that cylinder was leaned out for some reason which caused the plug to burnup so it was just getting fuel dumped in it.my .02 cents
  7. Thank you for clearing it up,I knew the genral idea of what it is(steel billets, big chunks of stuff)
  8. There was a spectre(I think) review for the r50,pretty much just a product review though for there headers, intake and flowmaster pipe.
  9. A city slicker 21?Blaspamy I say! The wheel/tire combo looks very nice in my own humble opion. The tires look like 245/70s or 255/70s on ether 16s or 17s,most likly 245-70/16s. And there term Billet steel?Am I wrong in saying this or is this just not finished steel, like a bare rim.
  10. This was what mine looked like,I wasnt sure if it was normal or not.Makes me think maybe something little went wrong with tranny 1 now.
  11. Mine, its an auto made a noise like a spring does when its gets coiled really tight or bounced, not really a twang but more of a shreck, shreck, shreck as it was moving. My fix was putting a muffler clamp on it and it went away.It would come and go.Mine got bent and knocked off when I had a pipe wedge between the floor board and road at 40mph.
  12. I'm acutally going through the same problem on a f150 at the moment,I got a bad axle seal on the passager side but I keep the fluid full. I do believe it is just the rear end making noise since the u-joints on it are fine.Does the same as your, whins when your on the gas,but mine is only at shertin(?) rpms.I would also loose at the exhaust,a hanger could have broken and the increased exhaust flow could be causing it to viberate. (edit reason,I spell like a 12 year old)
  13. Dont forget to put your filter back in when your done. Yeah,a hard fast shiftis better, theres less slippage and less heat genrated. That one of the reasons when you use a shift improver kit when towing a lot.Less wear and tear on spendy auto parts.
  14. Straight bolt in I think, but isnt od electronicly controled?I know theres a tranny CM under the passager seat.
  15. Summed it up all in one.But it wont be a stump puller, adequate HP is a personal topic. Many of us find that the vg30 makes decent hp,although there are a few that find it doesnt. There are a few on here that have transplanted a 4.3 chevy in there wd21 and one or two that are currently doing small block swaps.I for one would say the 3.3 swap would make enough power for a wd21,around 200 hp with the above methion modes. Now it wont have the grunt off idle like, say a 400 ford(which at 4500rpm your getting ready to blow up) but it will move out better then even a heavly modded 3.0.And when I say heavly modded I mean cams, head porting, ehaust and intake. For more on this topic I'd say check out the members rides and Hardcore sections.
  16. Humming humming like Mmmmmmm or like a slight squeel like noise. My vote is bearings but your rear end could just be making noise.Which isnt a big deal, when it goes it goes,a little noise isnt anything major,it could go another 100,000 miles like that. *waits for hate mail about my rear end comment*
  17. Oh,the t-belt was probly never changed, the tranny only shifts to 3rd and well its a 4 door.
  18. What color is the smoke, black, blue grey? Black is unburnt fuel, blue is oil and grey is a head gasket. Check out a diesol site for a better run down on what could be cause it. I know if too much fuel is dumped in for the rpm it will shot black smoke.
  19. Yep,theres a tag on the fender,HG43 is the 4.3x gear ratio and HG46 is the 4.6x gear ration.Best of luck with gettingyou truck back in shape.
  20. Packing the grill so no air circulation and the high rpm low speed you have when traveling in deep powder. These engines are rather cool running from my exspecrince with a leaky rad.But on sunny winter days when wheeling it would run a little higher then normal.Nothing major but when your used to your guage reading 1/4 or less its kinda whierd watching it go up to 1/2.
  21. Lets hope this fixes it because my engine is doing something very close to what yours is.
  22. Better then driving on dry pavement.Snow wheeling isnt that fun because of the over heating issue if you pack you radiator with snow.
  23. Yeah,I didnt see your post,it was probly because I had to look Zinc up.
