  1. do you mean since they changed it it has less power? if that's the case they may not have got it TDC or the timing is out..... how does she idle? run in general? start? need a bit more info
  2. oh my that first "thing" posted was fugly......... count me out........
  3. ah yes... i do know about european roads... so i feel your pain there. well.. then you are fortunate that is all the damage you got.
  4. good lord terrano... how the heck did you manage to break the sway bar mount thingie? lol. sorry.. don't mean to laugh.... but dang. ok. for now.. pry bar the rubber back onto the rest of the mount.. then yes.. a trip to the JY is in order... sssh
  5. ok. it's a little unceremonious.. but it had to be done. PB blaster.. liberally. vise grips. TIGHT. screwdriver and a hammer. after 1/2 hour.. we pretty much had to beat the ever lovin snot outta the thing... cuz we don't have a tool to removce it. there is a pilot bearing puller available, but we didn't need to spend any more $$ on stuff. we twisted, turned, smacked, and finally beat it into submission. if you feel inside there is a little lip... if you have the puller for it it is simple.. if not.. grab a beer and a big strong arm and give it hell. twist n turn it as much as possible, that'll help loosen it too. good luck.. may the force be with you  cuz it is a PITA
  6. first off, find out what kind/type of oil they put in your pathy... second.. check the fluid level.. third.. check the oil filter.... and fourth..... DON'T GO TO AN OIL CHANGE PLACE!! gawd! it takes 15 mins and you don';t even have to jack yer pathy up. really... i have heard too many horror stories like this the past few months and it just makes my skin crawl... i hope it's nothing serious.... but do find out before more damage is done. check to see if any wires have been knocked off as well... sensors... wires..... anything...
  7. *ahem* first off... it's is bros n chicks (pezzy and i are of the female persuasion) .. secondly...... hmmmmm..... black out lights......... i know killvox blacked his lights out, but i think he did it himself,as did one other member. use the search function, it is your friend, someone just did a write up on installing a cupholder they made.. try the how-to section, i think it's there. pathys definitely lack in cup holder action... and that sux. there area couple write ups about them though. try the how-to's first, and also use search for the lights. i haven't done either, so don't know really...lol... but i am sure someone else will chime in with what you're looking for. search function is your friend
  8. -bounce- how exciting B.. it's finally gunna come to fruition instead of staying in dream stage! we must come up and inspect the beast when it's done sly maybe dave'll get fired up n help me do my pathy sssh
  9. cool. it doesn't take long.. when i had my wider tires (255's w/ 3.5" bs) on i took the flares off.... this is why everyone said i'd get a ticket. i have 31x10.5x15 tires now with 4" bs. (or is it vice versa.. oh crap.. i can't remember.. but they don't stick out as much)
  10. keep the '91 pathy..... until you swap that motor into teh '95..... THEN sell the '91 and keep the 95..... the 55 cehvy.. you can just send that baby out to me here in sunny CA and i will take goooooood care of her for you sly (you do know besides a chevelle.. a 55 is my dream car?)
  11. -bounce- congratulations!! :cool2:
  12. if you decide not to do it at the immediate moment, you can use your other heads as guinea pigs and do the cam job on them, (that's what i'm doing )leaving you more than enough time to get through emissions, while still allowing you to try to do the job yourself, lest saiving you $$ and stress. then you can pull the heads (with the motor still in) and install the other heads with new cams when you have time. just an idea. Bit of extra work there, but at least you'll make all deadlines with no stress i do not, however, know the condition of your other heads,etc.. so that would be something to be taken into consideration there.
  13. my advice is purely just that. advice. take it or leave it. this is my second motor and i am purely advising josh to take the extra time and do it right or possibly end up like me having to pull the motor out a year later to do the things i should have done in the first place. I said the same thing as him last year..... crap... i don't want to pull the heads. so i didn't. and here i am $600 poorer with another motor to replace the motor i should have taken care of the first time. that is why this time i did it ALL. (within financial reason, but all gaskets and other parts were changed. my original motor will be built right with much more $$ spent on it) no bein lazy, no skipping things.... I am purely trying to keep josh from getting into a situation that could easily end up like mine. because it really sucks, and for the extra few hours of work (not like it's hard), and a bit more fiddle fartin around, he can have a much clearer picture of his heads and the cam job will be easier to do as he will understand it better, whilst also ensuring not having to possibly remove/work on his motor again in 6 months/a years time for something he could have done while he "was there". i have hopefully learned from my mistakes, expensive mistakes that should never have arisen had i taken the extra bit of time. i am by no means saying anything will go wrong with his motor in a years time just because he choses not to do the head gasket or change his t'stat, but it sure is good insurance to know it's done.
  14. it is a damn site easier to take them off for a first timer and do that kind of work than it is to leave them on and fiddle fart around with them to get everything off and if you just bought a motor you knew nothing about and someone told you it had 40,000 miles on it but you have noooooo idea how that motor was treated wouldn't you want to take a few x-tra bolts out n change the head gasket while you were there? i sure as hell would
  15. see.. i took mine off n everyone told me i'd get a ticket ticket for what? my pathy looking better? or the cadillac behind getting dirty?
  16. ok. you must put each and every valve back EXACTLY where they came from. VERY important. check VERYclosely to the vales, valve springs for any warpage, burrs, damage or burning. if, after cleaning, they all look good, clean the valve seats really well and all the valves, etc.. and reinstall where they originally came from. make sure you check the valves closely for any warpage/burrs.
  17. see, i learn something new everyday -bounce-
  18. hey.. i lost my reliable piece of paper and was reading the manual in the dark..... i don't have an R50....... maybe i need to turn the light on? hey... i got that straight outta haynes.. 1991 and later transfer case oil 4wd models Dexron II (ATF).. i crap you not that's what it says i lost my piece of paper i have all the fluids n stuff (things i have collected off NPORA) on so i just picked up teh manual and that's what it said. it says THROUGH 1990 API GL-5 1991 and later Dexron II (ATF) don't ask me.. and this time i have the light on -study-
  19. a lot of guys are running the red line tranny fluid, which is what i will be using once i get the fundage to change it... hopefully my motor will leave me alone long enuff for this to happen for the rear,d epending if you have LSD diff or not is depending what gear oil to put in there. there have been a LOT of posts about the red line tranny fluids.. search around cuz i am too lazy to find it right now tranny: API GL-4 (tho imma go with the red line next time around) if you do get the tranny fluids changed, ask the mechanic to put an EXTRA QUART in there... due to minor technical nissan design.. Diff oil: API GL-5 **IF YOU HAVE THE LSD you MUST put gear oil with the LSD (NOT posi) additive in there or oyu can munch your gears over time. T-Case: Dexron II (ATF fluid) power steering: same as t-case and i lost my piece of damn paper with ALL the fluids... damnit. oh.. i have the LSD and use the mobile 1 gear oil
  20. noooo problem. glad i can help. good luck with the motor! -bounce-
  21. nope. 90-95 were the same.. except in 90 they still had the VG30i motors in some pathys... everything is the same there except a few things on the intake
  22. that's exactly what i did when i first pulled my motor, and good god will help upon reinstall... you'd be suprised how much you forget in a week or so.... bit tedious but well worth the trouble in the long run.
  23. Slick

-bounce- yaaaaaaaaaay! another happy ending i love happy endings -bounce-
  24. really? wow. i have NEVER seen a pathy around here without flares... vurry interesting indeed....
