  1. LOL V6, good point !! Although you studying "The rear end of the Holden" has me worried... Hey CDN_Pathy... if the PILOT BUSHING gives you problems, mws posted a neat trick here for removing it with grease and a dowel of the right size... Just scroll down a bit. http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=5361 B
  2. There is a thread about cranking/indexing the T-bars in the garage/how to section... It is pretty easy... B Er, it's not there... I'll see if I can find it for you... Gimme a day. You can always search (try 'torsion bars' or 't bars' in title only) B
  3. LMAO Red ! Sounds like you have your priorities straight... Reminds me of an old joke... Man tells his buddy "I got a gun for my wife" Buddy says "Was that smart ?" Man says "Yep, best trade I ever made !!" B
  4. Um, ditto... How in the world did you get stuck there ?? Let me guess... Auto tranny, heavy foot, no LSD... I have churned my way through sand just by being in 4x4, 1st gear and keep the gas at about 1500-2000rpm (tires aired down of course)... It's slow, but it moves the sand from front to rear of the tire and once you get a bite on traction and can grab second and hold 15-20 mph you have it made... Just don't slow down !! Thanks for sharing, but still kinda wondering... B
  5. I have definitely been told that before, but luckily it wasn't by a guy in a white coat while I was restrained. I have never heard of the term spigot bushing before... Don't feel bad CDN_Pathy... I have done much worse !! LMAO V6 !! I can completely understand how that would happen, and only imagine the look on your face when you realized it !! B
  6. Yes, it can be done, but it is probably a bigger job than you think. I believe it involves swapping axle shafts also... There has been a recent mention of it, but I'm not sure if it was it's own thread... Try searching for 'rear disk' and 'axle shaft' and such, including the post text in the last 30-60 days. B
  7. Ahh, the down under guy means the 'pilot bushing'... Funny, 'spigot' means tap or valve, etc so I have no idea how that pertains, but don't blame the guy, he is looking at everything up side down... B
  8. SSHHHH !! sssh Don't confuse him !! Actually, the answer is simple... If he goes with the white tint, he'll put on the black sticker, and if he decides on the black tint... Sheesh !!! B

    HELP!

Yes, it could be the fan clutch making the 'whoooshing' noise but only if it is frozen or severely binding. Yes, check that by rotating it both hot and cold. It should spin more free when hot (engine has been running). When cold, you should get maybe 1/4 turn max trying to freewheel it, not 1/2 turn or it is worn out. I have never seen a fan clutch that locks while hot, that would defeat the purpose; may as well just use a hard mounted fan. They loosen up when hot (friction from spinning) to keep from spinning the fan at engine RPM when at speed, yet bind more to move air while at idle. Thats why you have fan noise when you first start up cold, and it dies off after a few monents. B
  10. LOL, I never would have guessed (without examining it, maybe) that it is a pin in pin design !! Thats the first I have heard of. Was the center pin a dowel (solid and smooth) and the outer a roll pin (crudely formed (hollow obviously) with a split in the case) ? So it was the input shaft bearing ? Or is the main shaft you are refering tt something else. I'll study the manual when you tell me. Good, sounds like a basic rebuild. Glad there is no additional damage !! B

    HELP!

Have you popped the hood and poked sround ?? Exhaust manifolds generally make a ticking/tapping sound. B
  12. Cool, glad you figured it out !! Might as well do as much as makes sense while you are down that far, but 'if it aint broke'... I hate RTV monkeys !! Rather than do a good job, slather sealant on... B
  13. Simple... EV's... The technology is there, we are just not using it. http://www.sparrowelectriccars.com/ That would work for most people, and it is not even the most advanced design !! B

    NEED HELP!

This sounds familiar... Work backwards from the spark plugs, where does it lose power ? Is the ignition module hooked up right ? Could it be defective ? B
  15. Ahh, I get it, sort of. Why they try to level with opec I dont understand, but then I'm not an economist... Here is a good article about what Runnerman mentioned... http://www.macleans.ca/topstories/business...3_107308_107308 B
  16. Sheesh, just making a joke !! That makes about as much sense as anything the governments do... Ok, with current conversion the price here is $.88/liter canadian... Did you say 'greedy', 'federal' and 'government' in the same sentence ? Isn't that a double oxymoron ? Yeesh, I do feel for you with those rates though ! How do they tax you twice ? B
  17. Ok, now that confuses the hell out of me... Why hate the beach ? Ok, she does. Why live 3 minutes away ? I'm lost ! Yes, I was a biology major... I KNOW you have largest collection of truely nasty critters there !! I read an article about a drunk guy who grabbed a brown snake (?) thinking it would be funny... He did live, but lost both legs, 1 arm and is seriously fubared internally. Idiot ! Yeah, if you have some other picts of the peach, post a few more. Believe it or not, I have been touch with the Aussie immigration service, looking into perhaps relocating down under... B
  18. Welcome t0ast !! I'm just a few miles north of you in Petaluma; we get some fog here but not like SF... I hate it !! There is another thread right here that should give you a good starting point for your lift/shock/strut information search. GL !! B
  19. Sometimes with a pin hole, the metal on the mating pieces can be deformed around the hole, binding it fairly tight. This can happen from installation of the pin, use/wear or removing the pin. It doesn't take much really. Have you soaked it with penetrant ? Can you try to rotate the arm radially about the shaft to try to loosen it up a little ? I think you will have to go with 'lightly tapping' to get it to start to budge. I HIGHLY recommend using a deadblow hammer, maybe 16-32 ounce, to start with. Otherwise, use a piece of aluminum or brass as a drift pin and a hand sledge. Maybe scribe marks so you can see if you get any movement. Start working it back and forth, both directions to try to free it up. Just use patience and judgement, and I'm sure you will be fine. Before reassembly, be sure to examine around the pin hole, you may ned to do a little filing or chase the hole with a drill or reamer. Hope this helps !! B
  20. Welcome back V6 !! That looks like a beautiful area. I like the critters also, although the dead ones arent nearly as much fun... What are you fooling around with copperheads for ? Best just to leave them and the other 64 poisonous ones alone is my motto... B
  21. Good job, it looks 'factory'. Nice clean pathy also, congrats on finally having it in the driveway !!! B
  22. Hmm, I'd guess the motor mounts... The one on the left if I had to guess. The tranny mount is in the center... Easiest way to see them is pull the front tire(s) and the splash shield inside the wheel well, then you are looking straight at them. My stick jerks a little but forward and back, not bad though. I know one of the stud holes in the tranny is broken out with no good way to fix it so I have 1 bolt holding it back there... I'll probably fab a tranny strap to compensate. B
  23. I afraid I'm out of ideas for now... Hard to trouble shoot when you are not at the truck. I'd say run the codes again and see what it says. Maybe it is time to limp her to a mechanic, Just make sure they know Nissans (hopefully pathfinders). Sorry Bud. B
  24. Hmm, I have no information... I could speculate, but thats just a waste of time in my book. We'll find out soon enough. B
  25. LOL Red, the plot thickens... Well, at this point I'll refrain from giving advice or making comments as thats just too muddy of water to swim in... Good luck and hope it works out best for YOU. B
