Ok, thanks for backing off a level people. Opinions are fine, and emotions always run high with things like this, but lets keep it clean and civil, shall we ? B

Damn that place looks ghetto !!! B

I agree Trainman... Around here it is impossible to use cruise control due to the traffic and tremendous %age of idiots, but when I'm on the 'open road' I always use it. Light foot is #1 for me... Then of course driving as little as possible and avoiding traffic times/areas when possible are also big factors. Gas is just going to keep going up so it is best to start making habit/lifestyle changes now. Or buy a scooter. NEVER !! Small motorcycle... B
-
Cool that your roomie fixed up the bike for you !! He never did call me about making parts for him... Pull one of your rear bolts and get some measurements... B
-
To someone, yes. The diesel motor has some significant advantages... I'd consider one if they were readily available here. Not for $10K though... B
-
Yes and no k9sar. What I do blame Bush for is That devalues our currency, makes the already expensive oil cost that much more and threatens to destablize our weak ecomony. I think that is enough damage for 1 man. We won't even mention the other things he has done... B

No idiot light, just a gauge. While I have run it down to the E line I have never been able to put in more than 17 gallons. which must mean there is 2-3 gallons left. I never plan to test that thoery, but it might make a difference some day... B

That SHOULD be the case, but who knows... There was a thread that discussed the bolt size and length but I cant remember it. 10m sounds kinda weenie for a chassis to frame bolt, but I very well could be wrong. Better search for it Bud. Once you have the size and pitch, if you have trouble locating a supplier, let me know. You always have the rat bike to ride for a few days, right ? B
-
Geezerpower !! I have used kill switches before, and they can do wonders, especially on older cars that are simpler to 'hotwire'. B
-
You could dig up Al Capone's molds, syphilitic cascass and prop him up in the chair for all I care. He'd still probably do a better job, and thats all I care about !! B
-
Just make sure he doesn't pay you in penguin feathers or dried fish or something... B
-
Cool !! Try not to show off for the camera too much and wind up breaking something lest we get a video of your truck floating around cyberspace... Have fun ! B

If you have torn mounts and the engine is lifting or torquing to 1 side, yes, it can give you a bouncy feeling especially if it is pulling the throttle... I assume Steeev0 has determined that the mounts are bad so they need replacing regardless. I'm not there to check it... Lets see if that fixes or lessens the problem; I think it very well could. B
-
Good article MZ. No suprise here though... B
-
So it was binding or frozen ? Glad the problem is a simple fix, those are the ones I like !! You are welcome. B
-
Well, thats kind of my point MZ... There are many different ways to overcome our over reliance on antiquated technology. Problem is that if the major companies don't produce the products (vehicles) there isn't very much we can do. Too many stupid people get in the way. Hell, the big companies actually lobby against changes, all for their profit. This worsening gas situation has me concerned for the economy, not the republicans (to hell with them). This could very well trash our flat line economy, which will hurt the have nots far more than the haves... B

LOL DSM... Yes to everything... Oil Co's have record profits yet they artificially inflate prices for oil they haven't even purchased yet and refuse to build refinerys... Normally you'd turn to the government to curtail such gross excess, but this batch is in it with them. Better get used to it, the prediction is $5/gal by end of next year !! Prepare for a depression !! B
-
The difference is.... 1 year ! Yeah, a picture or two would help. I'll compare it to my 95XE... B
-
Hmm, ok... Depending on the type of driving, 100k miles might mean the clutch is shot... The fact that it only does it in first is a little odd... What condition are the motor/tranny mounts in ? Have you checked the bolts that hold the motor/tranny together to make sure they are tight ? Do you have slop in the trivetrain (drive shaft and rear end) ? B
-
IF it is oil on the clutch, the rear main seal of the motor is most likely although if you have significant leaks towards the rear of the motor (heads or valve covers probably), that could also drip down into the bell housing. The rear main seal is right behind the flywheel and is held in by a retainer. You basically just remove the retainer, pry the old seal out, put the new one in and replace the retainer. You are basically right there when replacing the clutch anyway... Can you guesstinate how many miles of this clutch ? B
-
I replaced mine with OEM, so I'm no help with aftermarket info. The way I could tell my clutch was going was accelerating hard on an uphill onramp, when I shifted to third at 4000 rpm it didn't bite, rather the rpm slip down to 2500, then the truck surged and accelerated again... Clutch slippage. Yours almost sounds like there may be oil on it ? Just for kicks, have you tried bleeding the hydraulics and adjust the petal engagement ? I don't think that is your problem, but it couldn't hurt. How many miles on the truck, is it the original clutch ? B
-
Yep, same here. I had to try 3 times just to get into the site !! You on dial up also MZ, or is it a universal issue ? B
-
If you have to ask, I agree with V6... I wouldn't do it myself, but then I know myself better... B
-
Cripes !! I thought it was in there... Thanks for catching that V6 !! I hate misdirecting; thats one of the probs with being a mod/trying to help, you can't remember where everything is all the time. Here is the context... and snosnk mentions using a tap of the right size (he says 3/4" so 19mm) to grab it and pull it out, both excellent methods... Measure the id of the bushing for the right tap size obviously if you go that route... here is the link to the thread. http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=5207&hl=dowel Sorry about the confusion !! B
