Dude thats like someone saying their truck wont start and asking them if they tried turning the key... When a car has an onboard diagnostic unit that you can check at any time with complete instructions posted, thats where you start naturally. I did kind of hint at it. B

You have a leak... Sounds like nasty oil gear oil, does it stink ? Did you hit something with the diff ?? Where exactly is it leaking from ? B

Some people have removed theirs completely or just the belt without any ill effect. If you really want to be slick, convert the system over to an onboard air compressor. Search should give you the info... If you do this, depending on the year, I'd like to buy some parts from you. B

EGR=Exhaust Gas Recirculation. Your truck will almost certainly NOT pass smog without it. I highly recommend you have the mechanic purchase and install a new unit. If you don't, for whatever reason, best plug all lines and ports. It shouldn't effect the operation of the motor much at all, just polute... Oh, I have no idea about the CEL... I guess there must be a sensor. Cut the wires, see if that does it, or try joining them if not. Do at your own risk. B

DOH !! Bastage !! Between bad front end geometry, rebuilding the CV's, UCA's, LCA's, ball joints, centerlink, tie rod, all the bushings, etc it would make much more sense to SAS it. Thats why I don't wheel much right now. I'd probably cripple the thing and just waste $, which is a bad idea when you don't have a FRIGGIN JOB !!!! Ok, I feel better now... B

As for the windshield, I'd say buy one as sheap as you can and any seals,etc required, then pay someone $30 or whatever to put it in. I'm pretty sure the last of the WD21 models have an electric speedo. 93(4?)-95s. When I pulled my tranny, I just remember electrical connectors, no cables. I could have forgotten 1 but I don't think so. Sounds like the issue is in the instrument cluster... Maybe motor worn out or gear broken ?? I'll see if I can find a good schematic of it. B

I too was looking at 4 runners when I bought my Pathy. Main reason was that they were quite a bit cheaper for just as good of a vehicle in my book. One thing that turned me off was that SOME of the 91-95 4runners have defective head gaskets and SOME will be replaced by SOME dealerships under a 'silent recall' otherwise it's quite expensive. Do a web search and you'll find some info. The Nissans run for a long time if properly maintained. Just check out the VIN and ask if the timing belt has been changed per schedule (88-93 are every 60,000 miles, 94-95 are 110,000 miles). Make sure to test out the 4x4. If you get an automagic and it doesn't have an aftermarket tranny cooler, put one on immediately and bypass the stock one. They are prone to clogging and thats gets ugly... They seem to have gotten cheaper lately due to the gas prices. Good luck ! B

Ok Bud... I found this searching for "shock+length"... Thats what 88 says and since he is the local Guru and has one of the tallest trucks, I'd say it's probably correct. Those are Rancho part numbers, so you can call or web search and verify them and the lengths/travels. From that you should be able to learn what you need to know, yes ? No tire is exceptional in all weather/road (or lack of) conditions including (but not limited to) terrain, debris, detritus, mud, rain, ice, sleet, snow, slush, tile grout, paint, anti-freeze, semi retreads, sticks, stones (gravel, rocks, boulders, etc are generalized under the moniker 'stones'), pine cones (and needles), any other damn cones (including man made), needles in general, fig leaves, leaves not of fig trees, sheetrock, mattresses, 2x4's, shoes, nails, dogs (dead or alive), squirrel entrails or possum tails, (insert your favorite marsupial here), etc. Nor will you find a tire that is exceptional, extraordinary, first-class, first-rate, grind, high, job, marvelous, outstanding, phenomenal, premium, primo, prodigious, remarkable, singular, skull, special, splash, superior, wizard, wonderful, world class, avant-garde, breakthrough, cutting edge, excellent, extreme, far out, first, foremost, forward, higher, leading, radical, finer, fitter, greater, higher quality, more appropriate, more desirable, more fitting, more select, more suitable, more useful, more valuable, preferable, preferred, prominent, sharpened, souped up, superior, surpassing, worthier or 'the bomb' at everything. Does that about cover it ??? That said, I have heard a lot of complaints that the BFG ATs pack with mud easy and don't clear well. Thats also what I have on my Pathy and will have to decide in 15-20k miles what to run next. Maybe the same... B

Well, considered that they are called Baja Claw, that would imply that they are for sand and rock. I've driven the length of Baja twice and I got news for you, there isn't much mud !!! Lets face it, no one tire is good at everything... B

For gas milage, try injector cleaner, clean air filter, healthy spark (rotor, dizzy cap, plugs and wires), clean the MAF sensor, make sure the O2 sensor is functioning correctly, inflate you tires to rock hard and throw the ignition key as far as you can into a lake. B

What he said, but also the power steering belt may squeal also when you crank the wheel while stationary... B
