Well, it is odd that the truck won't compression start. You should at least have gotten a rotation or two out of the motor. But other than hydrolock, nothing you did should keep the motor from cranking over. Your battery is fully charged, the connections are good and power is getting to the starter ? Does that mean it cranks over, but will not start ? I'm getting confused here... B

I'm assuming you are talking about turning the steering wheel all the way ? Those would be your steering stops. The plastic piece is probably gone so now you have metal to metal contact... B

Yes.... Make sure no one is in the engine compartment, and there is no flame source near by. My guess is you will geyser 6 fountains of flamable mist several times... Do you have a fire extinguisher ? If not have a garden hose ready. Not that you should need it, but lets just not ignore safety... Crank it till the cylinders are not spraying out mist, clean the plugs with brake cleaner, reinstall and hopefully she'll fire right up. That being the case, you'll want to change the oil soon... B

I've said it before... While wheelman's set up is convenient, I view it as a liability and would not do the same thing. B

Absolutely stupid if you ask me. No car should be made without voltmeter, oil pressure and temp guage !! B
-
What I'm trying to say is that I wouldn't use it for cars or anything else that had a 'normal' drain plug for engine oil... I'd drive the car on 2x4's, etc to gitrrrr done. If someone else wants to, thats their business. \ B

The best way to change your oil is to drain is hot, just after running. (Yes, I do this as much as possible) This is to remove as much sludge and sediment as you can. I cant see this device doing it as well as just removing the oil filler cap, and then the drain plug. As for getting underneath, it's a 4x4 !! Drop on your back and slide under, it takes 30 seconds ! I can never remember if it is 14 or 17mm so I just grab the entire socket bar... B

Gears... Sorry, couldn't help it. The front diff is an open diff, ie. Only one wheel turns... B

I'm thinking that the issue could be everything from bad ground/battery contacts, failing voltage regulator in the alternator to wiring shorts. Honestly, I think all you can do is start with the basics and keep checking/troubleshooting from there. Keep us informed though, at some point you may mention a known issue symptom... B

Kind of like what I told you already... As for the others, all have been covered (again and again) recently. "Search" is your friend... B

I can see where it makes sense for boat motors and other applications as well, but to promote them for car oil purposes seems silly other than pure marketing... Some people's children !!! B

There was a recent post on different sized oil filters, the consensus was that if it threads on and seals, it's all good. The issue is the room on the Pathy. Read the bottom of this... http://npora.ipbhost.com//index.php?showto...il+filter" B

No, no difference, doesn't matter, who cares, FUGGEDABOWDIT !!! B

Where's Filthy Luker when you need him ?? CALLING ALL OFF ROAD RICE POLICE !!! B

AHAHAHAHAHA !!! My guess is that you are pissing in the wind... If it's anything like around here, hardly any X's get farther than the mall parking lot. I have only seen 2 around that have been set up for offroad, but they were done well. The vast majority are driven by overly well groomed men with "I *heart* Subaru" and discreet rainbow stickers on the back... Good luck with your plan, sounds like at least Simon will go play with you... B

I've found double clutching it when shifting, and sometimes moving the shifter back and forth inbetween seems to help, especially when downshifting or while at a stop... B

What RPM does it idle at warm, in D ? Cold in D ? Could be your FICD (fast idle control device) or your fast idle cam may be sticking or need adjustment. Your manual should out line those well... Maybe the mixture heater needs replacement ? B
-
I'm glad for you Mr P !! Get that thing installed and you wont look like a 1 legged chicken anymore !!! Good luck with the install. We expect a complete write up and photos you know... B

A locker has gears that engage, a LSD has clutch plates... That makes the locker more effective in more extreme circumstances. B

Depends what grade bolts you get. Grade 8 or higher should be fine. I had mine out a year ago and don't remember anything special about them, but I wasn't looking for that. I'd just call a dealership parts counter, get a price and go from there. Or you can pull the other one and go to a hardware store for a match... B

You have the VG30E (3.0 liter v6). There is no real maintenance for the manifold studs. Fact of the matter is the factory ones are shait. Usually the ticking indicates a broken stud, and if you try to torque them, you are risking breaking one, or having it fail soon. I have the same slight tick only sometimes at start up. I plan to ignore it until I get headers. All that can be done is replace them with the upgraded replacement units (300zx studs I believe) at $3+ a piece. I don't know the part # off hand, but could look it up for you. Also, theorhetically the dealerships will change them before 100k, but people have reported mixed results in getting this done. It's worth a try. Otherwise, yes PB blaster, a torch, and maybe bolt extractors will be needed. If you have to extract broken studs, DO NOT use the left hand taperd spiral "ezy out" style, they are too weak and brittle, use the square style as manufactured by Proto. B

That couldn't possibly hurt ! But if you do that, you may as well drain it and put in 5 qts of fresh oil (doesn't cost that much). Consider it a flush until you put in the synthetic and who knows, it may quiet the whine some... Courtesy of Dowser... No, the tranny cooler does not apply to manuals, only automagic trannys... This does apply to your manual tranny though. http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=2621 As for the lack of zerk fittings, um yes, it's not a good design. Some aftermarket ball joints have grease fittings, and some people install them if they put in aftermarket control arms, etc... B
