Damn, what ever happened to performance as opposed to sounds nice ?? Sounds are nice, but when $ is concerned, gimme action and a whisper any day !! It's funny to hear people wanting rumble out of a 150 HP 3.0L V6 !! My superbike puts out 140 and all you hear is engine whine under 6000 RPM... That said, of equal diameter, a glass pack would probably have the same flow, if not better than a Magnaflow, etc... That definitely isn't the restrictive part of the exhaust either !!! B

I think you have just been biting on the front brakes since the first front pad change... 124K miles on brake shoes is unheard of unless it is all highway miles and you never use the brakes. Regardless, don't fuss... If they work fine, so be it. B

Damn Bud, not only is your Dad cool, but he knows what he is saying. Tell him that the next time you see him ! I drove a 83 D720 P/U 4x4 Kingcab for 10 years. The beast would not die, and rarely left me stranded. It finally came down to money invested/cost to fix and I sold it for $1500 after a total of $7500 cost for 80,000 miles. I still miss the thing and see it driving around town. If I had more $ and a place to work on it, I'd hunt it down and buy it back ! Well, thats what sold me on Nissan. I don't need a P/U but wanted another 4x4. I looked at 4runners along with Pathys but the 4 runners cost too much and have some problems them selves. I saw an add for a local pathy with the timing belt/water pump done, new cat back exhaust into a magnaflow and 108K miles for 6k so I went for a look. Great shape inside and out (I needed a truck soon) and the driving feel reminded me of the D720... SOLD for $5700 !! Too bad I smashed the poor thing... I'm not giving up though; it'll cost me less and have better results to SAS it than to try for 'stock' front end. I've been waiting for a good job. When I have it, I'll finish a truck to beat 88's, but probably not Mookies... :bow: B

Nothing personal Bud, but your suggestion is a lot of work for people who already work for the site. YES, the key is to search, properly.. YES, this is a learned skill, and we can help/offer tips for newbies. A helpful guide to NPORA search function would be usefull, but not just as a bunch of posts as people wont read/retain it. I'm willing to try to write a 'manual' but it will take a bit of time. One thing I have done to help things along is have a directory of links for regular asked Q's... Ok people, should I write a "Search Manual" ? B

Yes, yes, no, yes, no, no yes, and no. I disagree with charging for 'premium' membership or having dues. It doesn't seem necessary so far, and it would detract from fresh blood. Lets not go there. Voluntary donations when needed would work just fine. Anyone who saved $2000 by putting in a tranny cooler for their automagic (extreme example), or got the right info for their shocks/lift kit should be ok with dropping $10 for the site when asked. I can see where specific member funds would be different, but then people are already donating parts as is. Thats all it takes... Ok, it seems to me like there should be 2 funds set up. One just to pay for hosting/upgrade costs for the site, and a second one as a slush fund to help/bribe the founder/admin to show up and do their jobs... PUT THE FLAME THROWER DOWN !! I believe that there is a little circut board type deal under the drivers door controls that can crack or come loose. I'll try to dig up the thread I remember. Also (as a safety -read idiot- feature), I can not lock my drivers side door if the door is ajar and the key is in the ignition. All doors will unlock. If you have a symptome like this, it may have to do with either the idnition sensor or drivers door sensor. B

Pretty much what he said... I replaced my clutch 1.5 years ago. It's not really hard, but is labor intensive. The tools he mentioned are needed and breaker bars, 2" extensions and air tools are helpful also... B

Heat, and ringing the nut.. Heat the nut, not just everything. Also, strike it squarely (with a BFH a few times)so as not to damage the threads or hex. The impacts can often break free corrosion... If it's still stuck, cut them off or use a nut splitter, DO NOT bust a knuckle, it's not worth it !! Good luck B

I suppose it could be the fuel pump, but it sounds more like you are grounding out somewhere. Time to start chasing wires I think. Odd that washing it caused the issue, these trucks are usually tougher then that... B

Damn, I just gave away an older (but functional) 17" Sony Trinitron monitor... It was sitting in a corner for a year ! I run 2 17" NEC flat screen CRT's (one way to optomize dial up, work on one screen while the other loads... ) They can be purchased reconditioned for like $80 delivered... B
