Yeah 88, having a dependable front end will be nice !! I figure SAS'ing it will add a few inches of height... Good points both you and Mookie, maybe I should find one locally pull it myself and rebuild it, it certainly would be a lot cheaper. Unfortunately, I have no garage, but maybe I can borrow a buddies... Thanks for the tip Earth1, thats exactly the kind of thing I'm fishing for !! Hopefully I can get it togeher by summer. B

As it says... Calmini came through with some long promised help but not a complete kit. Thats fine, but I think I can use what they offer. http://www.purenissan.com/new_page_2.htm The goal here is not to build a monster Pathy, but regain a front end with integrity as my geometry is bad since I mashed the front end, and even if it could be fixed, the price for a stock front end would be 50-75% at least of SAS, so here we go. I'm still leaning towards the leaf spring option as it seems the most simple and this will remain a daily driver, not a rock crawler. $ does matter... I'm currently looking for a local shop that can do the work and that I can work with, at least fabbing parts and monitoring the progress. I'll update things when it happens. I think I have found a good source for the front axle thats relatively local (2 hours away), but I haven't priced things yet; that kind of scares me, but I'd rather go with a new one than a junker. Again, updates when aplicable. http://home.foothilloffroad.com/fod44faxle.jsp Information is appreciated, be it personal experience or links as I'm a newbie to the whole SAS thing and would like to learn as much as possible before laying out the money !! Damn Bud, that story makes me cringe !! I just hope you heal up fine, thats all that really matters. Do what the doc's say and follow up on PT if it is required ! That said, if there are and bills, I'd look into what really happened. Regardless if it was a shop oversight or due to some dumbass, negligence is not on your part so it should not cost you a dime. Thats assuming your arm is ok. I'm not a sue happy person, but it is clear that this was visited upon you so you may want to persue that to some degree. Again, I just hope your body is ok as no sum of $ can take the place of physical well being. I have a bad shoulder due to someone in a hurry for the last 15 years, and till the day I die. I can't even go into what it has prohibited me from doing over the years. I just wish you well. B

That sucks Slick. I'm sorry to hear that you are having all these problems. Good news I guess is that you have identified the problem and are on the way to fixing it... B

Thats because the Forum is scrunching/stretching it as MZ pointed out. If Mr P was smart enough to resize it appropriately before uploading it, the clarity would match the origional. Unfortunately, he is FAR too busy making weisenheimer remarks to ever consider such a thing... B

No crap !! If it is a rust bucket, ok, say it like it is. Post picts, don't be shy... It's not like the buyer wont look... Don't waste peoples time. If you hope for an extra $100, try to get over it and not be an arse... That said, good luck Mr P, bring a flashlight, and a picture of me in bunny ears. If the owner doesn't want to answer a question, just flash it and say "he'll be comming next". That should work... B

Sand or bead blast it k9sar, then degrease it well and prime it. NO problems after that... B

Ok fair enough... I forgot you were a Can-nad-dan and pay large numbers of funny $ for things. I only hope you make large numbers at the same time. I get what you are saying about the CO2. I was thinking about initial price and refill costs (not to mention I have an aluminum tank sitting a few feet away ) Yes, you are right, the SCUBA fittings are for air only. Yes, definitely do it right, 1/2 arsing it will only lead to sorrow. Make sure to give us feedback/suggestions about your set up. B

Dammit ? Have you never fished ? As in trying to catch a fish... The things that swim in the water and don't breathe air ? Ever use bait ? Or a lure ? *lights the dynamite* RUN !!! To me, links are links... Click at your own risk, but no, we don't want NPORA to become a Spam terminal for people, so.... Please check your PM's Pathfinder-jay... Thanks. B

So I did, on THIS forum.... Maybe I'll try the link, but thats not following directions... B

Sheesh... Ok, pay attention... SCUBA tanks !! Even an old school plain jane steel one is rated to 1800psi, and you can get them up to 4000+... Some used hardware, an adaptor or two and a regulator from Grangers, MSC, Airgas Co, etc and you are set. Just a regulator with an air line fitting for $125 is a friggin RIP OFF !!! You are filling a tire, not supplying life support !! Do NOT buy this stuff from an off road supplier. Piece it together for less than 1/2 the cost yourself ! Oh, the scuba tank can be filled for about $5 with filtered air at any dive shop... B

Congrats about the birthday, and sorry about the accident and ticket. The good part is it seems like you are taking it in the right spirit and learning from it rather than just whining. Guess you ARE a man now... B
-
Ditto to trying autoparts stores. I know MSC Industrial carries some so Grangers probably also does... B
-
Its around here somewhere... I'm not sure it is the same thing, but I figure there's no harm in checking out. As it is, it seems like nothing is going to happen anyway. B

Ok, so it's an R50... (1996-2004?) Yours is a 1997 with 175K... I can't help you much as I have a 95, a totally different animal. These are a bit different than the US made stuff, but many prefer them. I'm moving this to the R50 section... Welcome and good luck !! B

Yes, your tranny is probably hosed. Yes, you could save much $ by finding a used one and installing it, adding an aftermarket tranny cooler (bypassing the stock one) and having it flushed. Try to find one with a warranty, etc. B

I'm assuming these are FSM's in electronic form ?? Ok I would please like... Nissan Pathfinder 95 Nissan Pathfinder 88 Volkswagen Superbeetle Cabriolet 78 Honda Civic 95 Thanks much ! B

Ok, back off... Go to his site if you want, join/sign in if you want, etc. If you don't want to, no biggie either. He can PM from there, or he can do it from here... He can archive anyway he wants. He can solicit help rather than look it up.... That probably describes 10-20% of the members here, and I don't see you ragging them... He's a member of the site, treat him like one (that you like). Nothing to look at here, move along... (friggin rubberneckers !!!) B
-
Where's the off road rice police when you need them ? I think Luker has been subverted !! B
-
Sheesh, go to a junk year and get what you need and sell the two for more... Either that or go out with a tire star, floor jack and cinder block and boost one !! B

I'll assume you have a clue then. To check for warpage, a cheat method is to put it on a granite plate face down, and tap around the rim and use feeler gauges to check the gap. That works poorly. The right way is to turn or grind (carefully) the locating surface flat removing as little material as possible. Mike the thickness and map out any deviations. Then place the flywheel on it's 'back', resting on 3 points (preferably balls) on a granite plate. Now use a skate and indicator and indicate the top surface and map out any plane deviations from the same clocking point of the previous map. Compare the two and you know how warped and/or out of parallel the FACE is. Put a plate in the lathe with the bolt hole circle of the flywheel tapped into it. Face it until full clean up. Bolt on the flywheel and face that to full clean up. Congrats, you now have a flat, parallel flywheel ! Ok, I know there are different ways to approach it., but most any other way either does not take into account a major factor, or requires specific machinery. I do happen to do this stuff for a living (again). Then again, you can just pay someone to do it (but check their work) or buy a remanufactured one. All depends what your time and interest is... B

:X Now, was that "vasoline is only to be used in a pinch" or "vasoline is only to by used when it pinches" ??? B
-
Well, hopefully since it went away, it'll stay away !! Cant hurt to keep an automotive fire extinguisher and 10mm wrench for the battery terminal handy though... Yeah, the insane cat cracked me up, but I like the kitty sniper also so I decided to do a change up... B
-
You saved almost $400 !! COOL !! :cool2: I bet it was suprising to see what the stealer wanted to charge you $265 to do, uh ? I HATE paying people to work on my vehicles, but sometimes it is necessary... I saved about $800+ replacing my own clutch. B

Thats so weak it is laughable... Why in the world would anyone post someone elses photos and lay claim to the content ? SO many damn posers and wannabe's out there these days. It's pretty pathetic !! I can't even get into the cardomain thing partially for this reason. A website for your vehicle; from the few I have seen, 90-95% should just be erased... B
