  1. They're the same wheel, just the cop ones are black. They do this around here too.
  2. Exhaust won't make it run bad. Being a tooth of on the distributor will though. Did you put the distributor in like this - right arrow: (orange dot is alignment dimple) Or like this - left arrow:
  3. Do a compression test. What kind of head gasket was used? If it's a Fail-Pro that might be the issue. They're known to blow out on VGs really quickly.
  4. Yep, it's actually a somewhat common performance mod for us Z31 people - using a Pathfinder intake.
  5. You can get a Z31 lower intake manifold and turbo injector rails. That opens up a whole new ballpark of injector options.
  6. 23 Idle Switch is in the Throttle Position Sensor. Essentially, it does nothing. Theoretically it tells the ECU when the throttle plate is closed so the IACV can adjust idle accordingly. Knock sensor... don't worry about it yet. That code pops up whenever there's another code for the most part. Check the pins on the MAF plug for corrosion and make sure they'll have a good fit to the prongs on the MAF sensor. Check the wires for cracks or frays. Wobbling harmonic balancer can be an issue if it gets really bad (like splitting in two). Most wobble a little bit at idle. Generally it sounds like your ECU is just really, really confused.
  7. You don't have to have a full gasket, but it's generally a good idea.
  8. If the belt is tight enough to make a loud whine, there's a risk of it snapping off the passenger side cam sprocket. There should be about 1/2" of deflection up and down in the belt, or you should be able to twist the belt 90 degrees.
  9. Tried to flex it out in a tree stump right in front of my mom's bedroom window. She pulled in the driveway just as the back tires started spinning. She was pissed.
  10. Any hydraulic fluid can be cooled, but what's the reason behind this? I've never even thought of cooling the power steering fluid and even after a hard day of wheeling it's still fairly cool to the touch in the reservoir. I can see the purpose on a high performance track car... do you track your Pathfinder? It wouldn't affect the pressure in the system, but given the extra volume you would need more fluid (obviously).
  11. Well the van is front wheel drive so basically everything is different right there and it doesn't have the differential in the way.
  12. M\\\ swap then boost that biitch and rape tits
  13. Check out some RX7 550cc injectors. Might be cheap? I dunno. They work though.
  14. Why do you say that a stock cat will always clean better than an aftermarket?
  15. 2WDs have an interlock switch also. I don't think the starters are the same, at least from what I've seen looking at a Z24. Besides, your VG starter lasted what, 250K? I don't see the point BUT if it does bolt right in and it's cheaper it might be worth a shot.
  16. Seems just a tad bit high, my '87 would shift around there if I had my foot a little bit in to it. Light throttle and it would shift around 2500RPM. I suggest doing a good fluid flush and installing an aftermarket transmission cooler. The '87s aren't as prone to cooler clogging as the '88+ with the 4-speeds are, but it's a good safety precaution. The 3-speeds usually shift a little weird to begin with. 1-2 is pretty harsh, 2-3 is slow and lazy, and the torque converter lockup is barely noticed.
  17. Should cut two square holes in the hood and put vents in with particle screens to keep most of the sand out and force air through the coolers.
  18. No, but in this case at least they're protecting their customers from potential injury. Chevrolet is recalling a few new Cruzes because one girl said her steering wheel came off while driving. There hasn't been any other reports if the same problem...
  19. Valve dish? Any time you take away material from the surface of the piston without changing anything else you gain cylinder volume, lowering the compression ratio - not raising it. Very good point about auto vs. manual.
  20. Sounds pretty solid. If you can get your hands on an older Ford F100 York AC compressor, those work awesome and pump a lot of air. Vancouver, WA or B.C.?
  21. 25+ PSI at sea level with a good sized turbo as long as the tuning is spot on to prevent detonation. VGs have "glass" pistons, detonation with any kind of major force to it usually blows piston skirts/ring lands right off. Can't wait to see videos of this thing running around.
  22. I believe the 22MM oxygen sensor is the Titania type, and the 17MM is Zirconium. Nissan has been switching sizes/types around since they first made the Z31 depending on the year and engine type. There's really no rhyme or reason to it. I do know that each computer is designed to run a certain type of sensor, and mixing them around can cause some damage. The sensor on my '88 is 17MM.
  23. They're a little more touchy, a good thwack with a socket usually bumps the pressure by around 3PSI. Did it to one car a little hard and the pressure went up from 38 base PSI to 54. Oops! Any my God, how much power are you planning on making? Stock 270cc VG30ET injectors will support 250HP, and DETT injectors can be ran to almost 400HP.
