  1. sounds like a leak in the heater core. Yes I know you used cold but its the same ducting so odors still cary over from one core to the other.
  2. get that dual box on there with a hoohaa. then you only weak link will be the tie rods. Which, IMO, is the best weak link to have.
  3. 153 is a crank number so if you dynoed and got 120 to the wheels you will have maintained stock numbers
  4. 3.25ish I was higher @ one time but I was getting CV binding so I backed it off a bit. this also made alignments easier. Eventually I will lower my Front Diff (diff drop bushings) and then I will shim the lower BJ to drop the kuckle itslef.
  5. all 1st gen HB and Pathy wheels are interchangeable. (not 720 or earlier pickup) Some require very minor modifacation like the plastic lip on the steering colomn needs shaved back to fit a newer wheel on an older pathy. And rounting of the wire for the horn button varies but is easily done. Obviously If you have cruise ontrol in the wheel you'll want to look for one that has those buttons. There are 2 spoke and multiple 4 spoke designs in all colors. Early 90's sentra wheels also fit if you like the 3 spoke design.... Many other 90's nissan models fit If you feel like doing something differant.
  6. a 1.5 pitch nut will thread onto 1.25 pitch bolt of the same diameter if the nut is 3~4 threads or less.
  7. I think their stock is limited to domestics. Shoot them and email or call them. then send up a $15 JY box and hopefully you can pick it up when your up here.
  8. My not feel lacking but % of potential... My buddy could get over 27mpg on long dirves with his camaro. 6th gear movin allong @ barely above idle. Using 1% of its pontetial power. Now a truck being 2x the weight 3x the wind resistance and same engine can only best about a 1/3rd of that because it needs more % to do the same job. Also If you look @ that chart and look @ the green for stock tires sizes the actually Factoy ratio is still numerically higher than that (closer to the red). running 4.9 with 33's will also but you within range of nissans speedo gear selection for acurate speedometer correction.
  9. You may find allot of similar parts beteween nissan and subaru. I belive they were mutual partiners? Anyway the R200(our front diff) Is found on subies and nissan infinit coupes and sedans. Some 2wd pathinders and 300zx recieved a Borg warner T-5 instead of the nissan 5 spd. The T-5 is found on MANY vehicles to include the ford mustang.
  10. http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=26009&view=findpost&p=477992 Depends on your box year and its needs. Expect 200~300 for most normal nissan boxes. A most remans cost more and they do less making readhead the best choice if you want Like-new-quality from a reaman.
  11. sounds like its time to re-gear. 4.9 sound good to you?
  12. Look for 300zx kits. there should be more results out there. I think the L28(280z late 70's), and KA24 (common 90's nissan 4 cyl) use the same rings.
  13. I thought he was saying 16.5 miles per 1/4~1/2 which is not good... So is it 16.5 miles your using that much gass? or 82.5 miles (16.5x5) your using that much gas? On the highway, you should be getting @ least 80 to 1/4 tank. Lower speeds and stop and go anything less than 60 to 1/4 tank is definte cuase for investigation.
  14. Its not another cat, its in line with the PAIR system. I can't remember exaclty how tho.
  15. http://www.redheadsteeringgears.com/ redheadsteeringgears@yahoo.com Their trade mark is painting the topcap red before assembling the Remanufacutred box I'd prefer them vs and other rebuild any day. Because they go above an beyond with the parts and inspection. They even modify some boxes to perfrom better (ford boxes are up- graded to needle bearings inplace of insufficent ball bearings.
  16. In general Worm gear and reciulating ball-worm gear systems are know for having more play than Rack and pinion systems. And your civic is rack and pinion.
  17. Its the same engine silly. Yes you got one but don't go drivin like a race car once you get it in. Its like old ppl who say they are young becuase they got a heart transplant and the donor was 23 lol.
  18. You'll be so glad once you did.
  19. Just a note, My redhead box feels better than I can ever remeber my pathy feeling.
  20. On stock internals 7000 is the safe limit. after that you need faster springs. Now are 20 year old springs too fatgiged to still handle that? Somone kicked me when downshifting to 4th.... 2nd gear made the enginge jump some where over 8000 (the needle was burried past the 8) before I got the clutch back in. After the adenaline, having my heart leap thru the windshield and realize nothing had seized, I am still driving... I Couldn't help but how it sounded, I wanted to hear it again but didn't dare try. (I was also scoling my passenger). But having a 7000 limit for $#!ts and giggles would be nice.
  21. I upgrded to a newer style used on the MPFI engines So my pic won't help much. but I'll see if I can dig up an older pic later this afternoon.
  22. Thats how you open it to see what your doing, and then set the bearing prealod. All this should be done Off the vehicle.
  23. NO NO NO! that is a misconception, leave that screw alone. I have dissabled these boxes and read the nissan rebuild manual. It is measured when the box is open and then set to the same measurment when the after the box is sealed You need to know what you are doing and what to measure. then you can open it up and crorrectly aujst it (so download the FSM) the screw and nut on top of the box moves the whole shaft up and down. It is a straight tooth pinion and the ajuster centers it on the 'piston gear' which is also straight toothed. So turning this is not the way to tighten the steering and if over tightend the clip on the top of the saft breaks and the depris can eventually cause catistrophic steering failure.(using a pickle fork to remove you pitman will have the same effect) If there is paly in the box it is most likely because the bearings which circulate between the teeth of the worm gear and Piston gear are worn from 20 years of use. (This is called recirculating ball steering). Redhead steering gear is the only remaufacuter in the US that replaces ALL these balls with every re-build Nissan spec for steering wheel play is 1.38" or less measured from the outer radius of the wheel. With fresh TRE's, BJ's a Hooha CL and a good idler play can be brought down to less than 1/2" providing you have a good box.
  24. He's right. Here's the actual break-down. Width/siedwallratio r rimsize So if both are 70 than the wider one is also taller... 255/70r16 255mm wide/ %70 of 255 (178.5mm sidewall) r 16" rim converted to standard thats 7" of sidewall on each side of the rim so a 255/70r16 is 30" tall and 10" wide The other tire (standard) has 7.6" of sidewall on each side of the rim so a 275/70r16 31.2" tall and 10.8"wide
