  1. Looks nice, as does anything you have done so far... Good job.
  2. While leaving work and walking towards it I noticed that it was sitting funny.... Further investigation revealed that one of my torsion bars had sagged considerably... Sigh... I only wish I knew how to grow money trees... I would have this baby done...
  3. Yep, bad air... smelly things, nasty exhaust fumes from diesel ricers... etc. I am not sure what the car had going on, but it was nice...
  4. Hey I am stoked... Looking forward to having the only A pillar gauge pod in a Nissan in my area! Hahahaha.... Could care less about the tweetage tho... Hows the daughter?
  5. Pushed it harder than I ever have heading to a distress call. Impressed with the leaky old VG30E.... no complaints here... working on getting the new driveline ready to drop in....
  6. Dakota makes excellent digital gauges... I would have more in my gauge set then my whole truck if I put em in my Pathfinder!!
  7. Never heard of this before... I am familiar with the "fresh air" setting on the dash which allows outside air to enter the cabin through the ventilation system...however it also serves to keep "bad" air out... or am I wrong? It seems to me that door seals, and wire grommets are the culprits of leakage into the cabin on mine at least. The only reason I would do the whole interior pull would be because I would want more insulation for keeping cool/hot air inside the cabin during the times of year when you dont want it to leave... After riding in a newer vehicle with the AC on for some time, getting out at the destination and returning to a sealed car...finding it still to be significantly cooler inside than the outside air temperature... it sparked the thought of fixing the leaks and insulating the interior properly. (That car was also ultra quiet by the way.) I guess that is why the commercials say it is the quietest ride...
  8. Welcome bud, look forward to seeing some mods...
  9. Welcome brother... As the others have already said, you will find that the guys and gals here are more than helpful... We do however require pictures...and you meet that criteria as well... You will do just fine here!
  10. Welcome bro, great looking R50... as well as the "past" vehicles... This is a great forum, you will fit right in!
  11. I have heard mixed reviews of the "high flow" filters but have had nothing but good results. Good points accross the board, I agree with Tungsten's view to an extent but I also agree with Nismo's view on the microscopic particles being caught by the oil filter... That is what they are for after all...
  12. Either way, I have had great experience with K&N filters. Oil or not, damage to the MAF or not... they have proven to be a great upgrade over factory!
  13. I had to pull up some carpet the other day while running antenna cables, and found that nearly all the insulation and backing had broken down and was a powdery chunky mess under the "carpet." I have a serious inclination to pull out all the seats, console and carpet and replace it all with either a combination of dynamat style material and insulation or something that covers both ends of the spectrum... especially since these trucks leak air like an old toilet.
  14. I have a salvaged red/clear LED dome from a wrecked cruiser I am going to put in one day. Been meaning to do it for some time... just haven't found THAT TIME... haha
  15. I plan to do something similiar, not for audiophile use... but merely to deaden the terrible road noise that these old trucks have...
  16. Mine did the same as others had mentioned. I simply cleaned out the drain, it fixed it for a while... The second time it happened, I tore down the dash and the box, finding that there was some insulation that had fell down into the bottom of the container and started to clog the drain. Removed the insulation, resealed the box and no problems since... Why was there insulation in there? Dunno. I have seen the inside of plenty of heater core/evaporator boxes and the insulation is always on the outside... Maybe the PO??
  17. I have a picture somewhere of my jeep.... used a Dewalt grinder box to house the K&N on the roof along with some PVC pipe... quite humorous looking but very effective...
  18. I agree with the last post by ahardb0dy. Almost all of my vehicles, including the wife's Altima have had a K&N filter... With that said if you follow directions, and let it sit the recommended time as mentioned you won't have to worry about the MAF getting jacked up. Besides, generally when I am servicing the car I dod the air filter first and let it sit throughout the entire rest of the process... and sometimes even longer depending on what else I have to do... So its ample dry... Sigh... I like the extra throttle response anyway... no more paper filters for me...
  19. Homebrew potting of non weather proof electronics works rather well...
  20. In the long run, when mine is finished (never really finished per se) my main goal is to save on replacing common wear items. Ultimately being more capable but there are other aspects as well... I guess for me as one who continually modifies everything... It's more of a bad habit then anything else...
  21. You check your fluids? Jk Hey I snagged a few at the local yard. When I was leaving, I put em on the counter and the guy was like "uhhhh what are these?" I told him, and he was like...."uhmm just give me a dollar so I can get a coke man." Best deal I've gotten in years. Haha
  22. Sigh. I have to agree man. I work three.... Yes three jobs... Because the primary pays so little and insurance which is going up is more than my house payment every month. The wife can't work because her check would pay daycare for the youngest addition.... Speaking of which.... Guys that like gals.... I'd advise getting your vasectomy some ASAP. Was yourself some heartache and a crapton of money....
  23. I want to move to Canada and enjoy the finer things in life... Ought to stay on topic sorry. I have considered doing the diesel swap since there happens to be a forklift repair shop in the area. Side has several Nissan lift trucks or whatever that are diesel... TD27 motors if my memory serves me correctly. I guess it would depend... It's a trade off. Diesel is like 5 a gallon here, where standard gas is at about 3.55 a gallon. The horsepower to weight ratio and then the coat are all factors....on top of part availability. Besides I'm not looking to smoke out any intersections haha
  24. I said screw it a long time ago and just plain don't run filters.... Just kidding. Been using the cheap stp oil filters and a washable k&n knockoff air filter.
