Yep, the black pipe is awesome. I have a RAM mount in my patrol car, and built a base that is attached to my hump in the pathy. That way I can easily swap the tray between vics. As for another GPS idea, I have used a HP IPAQ with Mapopolis software. It works great, and is portable...so you can take it with you... Here is a picture of the ipaq mounted in a suction cup window mount (ebay) from a while back, its blurry, but hey it was a cell phone pic at highway speeds...lol

Panasonic Toughbook!! It is a chunk of change to buy a new a new one, but they can be scored on ebay for cheap. Most of them have built in GPS and the software is readily available for off road navigation. I have used the same setup in my patrol car for a while now, and it serves well. Another cool thing to use is google earth. Punch in your coordinates, or if you have a GPS puck, it will automatically show your location. With that you get kind of a birds eye view of the terrain, etc. As well as navigation. As for a mount for a laptop, they don't make one for our trucks. The newer ones yes, but not the WD21's and older. I am in the process of making one, but working so much I have not had a chance to finish it.
  4. Thanks for the advice. Don't intend to take it to Moab or anything, lol. I do understand, as I wheeled a few 4wd S10's and ran into the same problems. the ultimate fix...SAS!!!
  5. Diesel! Awesome. I have yet to see one in the states...does anyone in the US have a Terrano?
  6. I agree with B, cant remember the guys name, but he seemed to be pretty knowledgeable. Hook up with him, and maybe together you can take care of business...Are there Autozone stores there?
  7. Could not find them any way I tried on the site listed (ruggedrocks) only the calmini's are there. Going to hit the local off road shop and have a chat with the owner...he is a buddy of mine...maybe he can help.
  8. Been trying to find a set of the RC/SL arms for a while. Nobody has em anymore....discontinued maybe?
  9. Wow interesting stuff man. It seems pretty basic anyway, and people are paying big bucks for it...im in the wrong business...like Phil is or was...pun intended.
  10. But seriously, this has been covered. Use the search function, it is a great tool, although it does have some issues...
  11. You could easily put 31x10.50's on your truck without a body lift, depending on the model and options it had from the factory. A buddy of mine has 33x12.50's on 4.25 backspaced wheels with a 3 inch body lift and cranked t-bars. He did trim the fenders out a bit, but it looks mean. As far as keeping the suspension stock, that is pretty much what we all have, just tweaked since there is no "Real" lift available, other than replacing UCA's and coil springs. Welcome to the forums, and good luck bro.
  12. Hey I can relate. My old K5 trail rig had zero power steering...it was one of those good old military trucks...Long story short converted to a scrap yard system, and shortly after that went to 44 inchers, at which time it went hydraulic. The difference on the trails...was awesome. Power steering alone made it so much more enjoyable, and the hydro setup was freakin sweet. (caused me to have to brace up a bunch of stuff, and get "Real" beadlock wheels though.) Anyway...I am with the others...why would you not want it? If you were racing the truck on on a straight 1/4 mile..sure, remove everything.
  13. I remember reading that post a little while ago, just could not recall the details. My bad. Thanks.
  14. Okay, was under the impression by your avatar that it was a bad experience...but if they have changed their ways....
  15. So factory 6 cylinder XJ springs offer not lift to the rear correct? I have a set or two of those behind my shed...
  16. Man, I used to live in Seattle. I miss WA. I would frequent BC on a regular basis...used to be some great wheeling around the border.

  17. Okay... (yes I have searched.) Where is everyone getting their updated CL's from? I have the equipment and skill to fab a tough CL up if I had the info on what to do. Obviously Red, I wont buy from L & P.
  18. I agree with Grim. I did a Taurus swap, and man it really opened up the room...love the build pics by the way...keep it comin.
  19. Yep. No reply as of yet...will advise.
  20. Was thinking about fabbing one up, but hey if it is not needed for under 4 inches...then word.
  21. Awesome. Am searching junk/scrap yards for XJ springs...just about have all the parts I need to do the suspension lift...anyone have any issues with steering being weaker after doing the lift?
  22. I had an old trailmaster 5 inch lift that I pulled of a 1996 S10 blazer lying around. I shoulda just bolted the stuff on and used blazer A arms...that woulda been different. Well, not exactly bolt on...a lot of custom fab would have to go into play...and more work than it would be worth...a SAS would be far superior... Sorry, am rambling on my lunch.
  23. They make a console insert for mine, waterproof dual cup holder...but man it is high dollar. Dang gov't sales people...geesh. Though about just tap screwing some cheap plastic ones onto the console until I feel like coughing up the coin for the real deal... And your right, the window mount ones whistle...(but my truck leaks air from everywhere anyway.) It would just fill a space like the ones for the radio's...pretty clean and cool looking design, just not in the budget.
  24. I have been seriously considering buying some of the Mastercraft Courser AT/2 tires. The 31/10.50's are a bit more than the P265/75/R15 but you are getting a 6 ply tire over a 4. Same tread pattern, and wear life expectancy. I have also been told that 4 ply tires ride better as well. Whatever that means, not like it matters in a 20 year old truck... I have had great experience with the TSL LTB tires. They offer a 9.50 width, which is great for small vics like ours. ProComp makes AWESOME tires, they are m ore money, but they last forever it seems. The last set of MT's I had were ProComp and they literally had what seemed like the tread from when they were new to the day I sold the vehicle 3.5 years later. I am no expert, so someone chime in...what is the difference in a 4 ply 265 tire, over a 6 ply 31/10.50 tire?
  25. Nothing about price/quantity required for order though. Interesting bit of information however. I emailed them, and inquired...
