So as I sit here bored out of my mind, I messed around a bit with a primitive image editing program and your picture.... I dont have access to my FTP, so I used photobucket. Hopefully it will work out... Anyways, the basic principle I was talking about is sort of shown in the edited image... Basically depending on what size the light is, will determine how many can be mounted...
-
I cannot confirm or deny this, as all I have to look at is some terrible angle pictures of my pathfinder with the X rack, and no measurements to go by. On mine I still have the hardware from the plastic deflector, so I may be able to fab something to span the two outside bars, with tabs welded in place to mount the lights... As for light size... I guess ultimately my goal is to protect them. The bigger the light the taller the truck, and for me and the places I generally go it wouldnt be wise... Will check measurements and such when I get back home.
-
LOL that is a good point... Although my 2 yoa son calls my pathfinder a truck... so I will agree with him!! Windows opening or not, doesnt matter to me.... The first aid kit is actually pretty cool, I like the strange way the body curves, like a WD21 but on steroids. Thus a WD22. Not trying to start a war here by any means, to each his own...
-
So I wonder if SL is making uca's for Fab Tech as well...
-
Yep most parts houses will have what you need. A local exhaust shop may weld it back up for you for little to no cost... Worth a shot.
-
As I sit here and go nuts... I recall that the above answer has been served on another forum... I believe it is correct, that the FT UCA's are similiar to the RC design... Of course there is a huge price difference for the name... I guess in theory you could paint the RC ones and then put some vinyl lettering on them to match the FT logo... and voila you have FT UCA's... Sigh...

Repairing hole below driver-side passenger seat
tmoore4512 replied to AlphaGeek's topic in General Forums
So how is it holding up since the repair? Any pictures? -
Did you get it fixed bro? I would have injected some input but everyone else has given the solutions I would have...

That site has some pretty cool looking stuff on it. Looks to be pretty simple though, and I couldnt justify spending that kind of money for something that I would just as easy make myself. I am actually thinking of doing something similiar to mine now that you have my curiosity up... I like the low profile look of this, and if the lights were halfway decent you could get some good coverage with them. I am thinking about doing something similiar but instead of the light housing being on top of the mount, putting them below it. So the mount would span across the roof rack bars, and the lights would mount underneath it, in between the top of the truck and the roof rack, providing a little more protection for them. Of course I have entirely too much time to think about these things, as I sit bored out of my mind in NC on "vacation." Not a vacation for me, I am going crazy. Dont tell my spousal unit... Oh well.

I agree with nunya. I have had no issues getting to and removing my starter... This is probably why I have no issues with mine.... I have big hands too!! At AZ we sell primarily remanufactured starters, but occasionally we stock brand new units, Duralast Gold branded starters. Some of the remans have bosch markins and stickers, but who knows how well they hold up. On days I work I see a pretty steady flow of reman parts coming back in for swap outs.

Dont get me wrong, I love my WD21, but I have a soft spot for the Xterra's as well. Just looking at some of the SAS jobs that Ryan and his fellow Coloradians have done to some of the X's over in their neck of the woods makes me want to grab one... And the rumor that they get better fuel mileage sweetens the pot... Not to mention that the wife might actually want to drive it...
-
For me I have always had excellent results running coil springs. Never had enough "permission" from the spousal unit to acquire coil overs.... Those guys are high.

The only issue I have been seeing lately is that it will say "updated posts" and then when I go and look at them I can only view one, and literally cannot go back to view another... probably operator error....
-
As has been already said... preference is key! Just take plenty of pictures... I mean take your time and do it right...!!

Yea that is awesome man... I have limited experience with warn, lol never had any issue at all with my 8274!!! Unfortunately I sold it...years ago... sigh, to have one of those again would be sweet.

These are some great resources for those who have not yet experienced first hand the not so fun side of winching... http://milemarker.com/team-orange/school-of-recovery http://www.4wheeloffroad.com/techarticles/trail/131_0904_4x4_truck_winch_tips_tricks/index.html

That was me! I actually have a 9000 lb Ramsey torn apart right now... Thought that since it was a free winch I would try it out... After mounting and wiring it... the motor locked up. I have since removed the said motor and plan on trying my hand at rebuilding it. Everyhing checks out like it should, just a lot of rust and corrosion inside the motor that may have caused some form of a short... I need to take pictures I guess. As for the hydraulic Ramsey products, never seen one in action in person. But there are some cool videos available on youtube of them doing amazing things. Back on the HF/CE winches... I have one of the 8K winches in my car port. Old as hades, and worked fine until I damaged a brush when I pulled the motor off to clean and lubricate. $24 later I ordered some new ones and they should already be at my house...(I am in NC now.) Gotta say that the HF customer service department is a real help. Of course they are all undoubtedly in India, but they will do what it takes to take care of you. BTW the CE winches are permanent magnet, not series wound. That is part of the reason why they are soe cheap... The new Badland winches that HF is selling are series wound according to their site. The difference is that a PM motor will get hot and lose torque, where a SW motor will get hot but will retain most of its torque. HF no longer sells the CE winches. They carry Badland winches which are VERY similiar (probably the same with different markins) to a Mile Marker. Neighbors jeep has a 12K Mile Marker and I am telling you it looks JUST LIKE the Badland 12K. Yes, an old thread... but I am so freaking bored just sitting here that I have been reading through the oldies...

VH45 Swap & SAS Update (Merged Threads)
tmoore4512 replied to tmorgan4's topic in Solid Axle Swaps, Hardcore Custom Fab
Yes, for those who do not know exactly what they are getting into... and why they would even want to... I did not mean for it to sound like I regretted my decision. Simply put, with every project I under take I end up changing plans at some point to either "improve" or "fix" something along the way... I assume it is this way with anyone who is a DIY'er. On another note as you have already made clear... if I had all of the parts either behind the shop, or readily available it would certainly be that much easier and cost effective... -
Awesome. This is a good idea... The reason I started my WD21 swap is because of all of the carnage to the factory IFS, as well as the limited flex that the front end provided. This is my DD, and I intend on keeping it for some time... However I do a lot of camping and other "off road" adventures... I have yet to take it to any major rocks, and dont really know if I will. But if I wanted to, she will be ready... As for the factory IFS steering... Even after completely upgrading it with every thing I could, (HooHaa, Dummy box, 1 ton TRE's, UCA's, longer UCA bolts) I still had alignment and excessive wear issues. Not to mention it rode like a haywagon with the torsion bars cranked up. At least with the other two SAS projects I have completed they rode BETTER than they did before... I have some video of my front end messing up...as well as some pictures... The video, for some reason couldnt get it to embed... There she is.

Have you got a metal place where you live? Most of the time you can score "drop" steel for cheap. I know tractor supply has steel but its not cheap... Don't have a home depot around here.... Close anyway.

Parted it out and scrapped the body according to his latest posts on Ronin. Sigh, I know the feeling... with mine in "mid build" its easy to get frustrated.... and the way the spousal unit despises it.... scrap yard might bring some peace.... but I refuse!!! NOO!!! Anyway, good build thread to follow, I learned a bunch. -
No wasn't trying to be anyway... Haha. Get your lights mounted yet?

Come on B... Your on the TOP of the list.... need to borrow some $??
