  1. I would love to get my hands on an old Firebird (67-68?) with the HO I6 motor that the Camaro didn't have...
  2. I tried to search but didnt find anything. For the VQ35 equipped Pathfinder, the manual is rated to tow 3500lbs and the automatic is rated to tow 5000 lbs. What gives?
  3. A lot of interesting points made but I don't think BMW or Volvo will be getting rid of the I6 anytime soon...
  4. Installed mine today, did not notice any difference on my local roads, but on the highway where it gets pretty choppy I was not getting as much side to side motion or shuddering, so for me it was well worth the money... BTW: you need a 22mm socket for the bolts your removing, and on my 01 with 117k they were pretty much a pain in the ass to get out, so expect a good workout even with a breaker bar.
  5. Thanks for the great input guys! And on the note of I5's, GARBAGE!. I was test driving a Volvo C30 with the T5 motor and the dealer told me they use a 5 cylinder to get the mileage of a 4 cylinder and the performance of a 6 cylinder. Idiot, it's more like performance of a 4 cylinder with the mileage of a 6 cylinder.
  6. Goddamn I would love to, but don't have funds or time...
  7. I was thinking about this but I don't think its entirely true with todays technology. Case in point would be Volvo using a transverse I6 in some smaller cars and SUVs and BMW using the I6 in the 1 series. I was hoping the answer wouldn't be that simple so I created this topic to see what ideas came up.
  8. As the topic states. Why is it dieing? Much smoother motor than a V6 not to mention the heavenly sound it makes, and we know that power is no issue with them just by looking at examples of NA and turbo models. Just something I have wondered about.
  9. I understand what he is saying, I want to know what factors specifically.
  10. Can you elaborate on that? I have installed strut tower bars on multiple vehicles and aside from clearance over the engine I don't see an issue? Thanks.
  11. On the topic of structural rigidity, I would like to see a strut tower bar for the Pathfinder...
  12. I am running Nissan wheels off of a Xterra Supercharged model. Size is 17x8. First pic had 265/65R17 which fit perfectly, second pic had 265/70R17 which rubbed almost bald. Now I am running 255/70R17 which look a bit narrow for my taste but fill the wheel wells pretty well.
  13. Ordered mine to give my Pathfinder a little treat since it has been a while...will post when I get it...
  14. This is the only other grill on the newer Pathfinders, I believe only 99.5-01 SE models had this grill.
  15. I bought the truck with Revos on stock wheels and replaced the BFG Rugged Trails that came with my summer wheels with the Revo 2. My intention is to replace the Revos on the stock wheels (if they ever wear out) with a more aggressive tire and make them winter/off road tires and keep my spotless Xterra S/C wheels on more of a street tire. I can't help if I gave into temptation and made Revo 2's my street tire.
  16. I am pretty sure the hood and front fenders are different because the headlights are shaped differently...check for confirmation though, I just remember comparing mine to a parked QX4...
  17. As an owner of both the Revos (winter wheels 255/70R16) and the Revo 2 (summer wheels 255/70R17) I would have to say I love both of them. They are both wearing evenly like little rolls of steel rather than rubber. They both offer great traction in rain, more traction in dry weather than a lifted truck can handle, respectable traction in the slippery stuff, etc. I honestly don't notice much a difference between the two but I would say that the tread on the original Revos has a more aggressive tread design, but I don't know if the looks translate into actual performance here. Bottom line, I have had great experiences with both, but it sounds like some people have had bad experiences with the original (which I was NOT aware of with years of reading/researching about tires until this thread) so it might be a good idea just to drop the extra dough on the Revo 2's. Or go with Michelin LTX A/T 2's like I wish I could afford for the winter wheels at some point.
  18. I am mostly looking for mpg improvements, and everything I read about them makes them sound like a worthwhile improvement for that...
  19. 20% is factory SUV tint. I fought for a deal so I have the in house brand for the local tinting company but I still have a lifetime warranty. Seems to be really good quality so far...
  20. Get some pics up! We need more R51 members here!
  21. Dean, thank you very much for your insight...I still want to know, did you feel the power benefits and see any fuel consumption benefits? Most of your issues were related to your fantastic off roading, which I have never done and will never do to your amazing degree (at least with this pathfinder while I don't have funds to fix issues that come up). Based on this, I think I still want to give this mod a try... My biggest question now is: Do I go with: 1 - 2 small fans having them come on at different temps or A/C coming on, NO shroud. 2 - The black magic fan which has a shroud to cover most of the radiator. 3 - Try to find a fan to fit the existing shroud for the mechanical fan. Any input is greatly appreciated.
  22. You should let Rockford know about this in case they were cutting back or stopping production, and so they can market them for the R50...
  23. Again, I apologize for myself being retarded. I knew I was talking about 265 width tires on 16" rims but I didn't let anyone else know. Ok, so 265/70R16 is about 30.6" and 265/75R16 is about 31.6" tall. I have read about members not needing to trim with 70 series tires but needing to trim with 75 series tires. I really do NOT want to trim so I am looking at slightly smaller tires. Hope this clears everything up.
  24. I haven't had much sleep. 70 is approximately 31" and 75 is approximately 32". You can figure out what I meant now.
  25. I freely admit boosting gives insane power but I would rather have a high revving mad acting all motor engine...just personal preference...btw i have determined i WILL design and build individual throttle bodies for something at some point, I am in love with them...
