So as some of you know I manaed to get ahold of some Xterra S/C wheels. The tire size on them is 265/65R17, and the tires are much much cheaper and a larger selection in 265/70R17. I measure my clearance and I have bout 3/8" from the top of my current tire to the strut tower and the tire is about an inch under the strut tower, so my thinking is if I can get a wheel spacer that is an inch or an inch and a hald that would clear the strut tower.... So her come the questions... Where can I get wheel spacers for our trucks? Will the less than half inch clearance accomodate a larger size tire? Thanks for all your help

Thanks for all the kind words guys, it was a lot of getting stuck on stupid little things that made it a long process...I know I talked about starting it a bunch of time but luckily remember I didn't have everything necessary and stopped before I got too far. Now that its all done I have a lot of pride in having a pathfinder where only one other R50 in the state of MD looks as unique. I personally love the wheels I got, and they really push out to the edge of the fenders a lot more then the stock wheels to really fill up the wheel wells. My obsession to modify will be on hold until winter break, so I had to do something big. Thanks again for all the help you guys have presented and putting up with my lack of knowledge on some things.

To be honest, the ride is amazing over the worn out 120k original suspension...I have yet to have trouble topping out over speed bumps...I sure am glad I could pick them up, thanks again for your help

All four wheels plus the four tires with a little less then half tread was $550. I figured if the tires last me until next winter I will probably get a new set then.

First I would like ot thank everybody on this forum for their support while I have been building up my R50. So here are the stats for now: Mile Marker manual hubs. AC Springs and KYB GR2 struts (thanks Max) One inch strut spacer (thanks Rod) Westin bull bar with KC Daylighters 17" wheels from an Xterra S/C with the stock BFG Rugged Trails Lots of random things like roof rack bars from Isaac. Things I still have planned are: Mirror tint to match rear windows for front windows. weaponR SRI Ranco shocks (the longer ones) And more as I find things I want to do. So heres the pick I have for right now, I am going to post an evolution group of photos in the users rides section.

started my lift...have some questions

Thats what I am doing as well... in regards to your breaker bar comment, that was my last try if the 3/4" drive impact gun did not work, but it made short work of those...So I have the new strut/spring combo ready to go in, I am just waiting until after my Dr. appointment today and then I will be good to take out the top nuts and the lower bolt and remove the old struts and put in the new. Then onto the rear. BTW: for the nut I had stripped up in the engine bay I just drilled right through the middle of the bolt, starting with a small drill bit and working my way up to one just as large as the bolt itself and it came right off. -

the steering knuckle i refer to is where the lower strut mount attaches... and damn these springs are hard to compress....I have the spring compressed as far as it will go with thise spring compressor and its stilll not short enough...I think Im going to rent another set to try and grab the rest of the coil... -

So I assume this means there is nothing special about the lower strut mount bolts? They just look different but there is no key? -

Well my uncle has a 3/4" drive impact gun. I will pick up a 22 mm socket to fit that tomorrow, and if that doesn't work I dont think my lift will happen. I am not messing with cutting those nuts and bolts... -

Also, is there anything special about the nuts on the steering knuckle? I got a 22mm socket in the half inch drive size, and with the impact gun its not even moving... -

I knew my question would be confusing. The angle of the new bolt going in is too sharp and I cannot just push it in, it seems like I need to take off the strut mount bolt to fit it. Look at the pic to see the angle I am talking about. -

Thanks for the help guys... Dean: when I went to remove the old studs that were in the strut with the AC spring, those bolts didnt even fit through the hole past the top of the spring, they got stuck and I had to cut them in half to get them out. Since the new bolts I am using are longer I thought that I would have some trouble getting those in...if there is some easier way let me know since I am trying to get the front done tonight... Chris: thanks for the support bud, if I get really frustrated I might just have to give you a call -

So I had Jeep rear coils from Max that I was going to try to put in, but I decided to just order the rear springs from AC. The front setup I bought is GR-2 struts with the springs already on them but the studs were the factory ones. I just hammered them out and had to cut some to get them off, but I think to fit the longer studs for the strut spacer I am going to have to take the big nut under the rubber cap off (sorry for the lack of accurate terms, I'm not sure exactly what it is called) in order to fit the longer studs. Now here is where the question comes in: Do I need to compress the spring before I take off this nut or will I be fine removing the nut without the spring compressed? And lastly, one of the nuts on the existing strut tower was stripped when trying to remove it before. How the hell do I get that nut/stud off of there in order to remove the sturt assembly. I was thinking the easiest way is to use an angle grinder to remove the head of the stud, then take an impact hammer to the bottom where I just grinded the head off and try to push the stud through the other side. Or try to hammer the strut assembly down after grinding the head off... Sorry for the long set of questions, but I am just trying to get some advice from the pros since this is my first serious suspension work. Thanks guys, Mike -

I think 02silverpathy has a heat shield...when I get my weaponR intake I'm going to fabricate a heat shield as well...let us know how it turns out... -
Ive never heard of any problems with changing over, I did mine at 118k. I just used the Lucas Oil additive to help condition the gaskets just in case there is some leakage. Go for it, mine runs like the engine is brand new.

The guy I spoke to told me they were in stock and he would ship them later that day and he would get me a tracking number after they were shipped...since then I have received no updates...I was just trying to get them by today so I could lift tomorrow while im off...

People are unsatisfied with products all the time, and most of the time what consumers are upset about doesn't affect the overall performance of the product. That is why any company needs good customer service people to reach a compromise with the consumer. I am glad everything worked out for you ronin, I am waiting on a set of rear springs to put on my lift. BTW: how long did it take them to ship your item? I am going on 4 days since I placed my order, and I feel like it is not hard at all to grab a pair of springs, print off a label, and tape a box shut...

weaponR has an SRI available...camshaft, exhaust, throttle body spacer, better plugs and wires...custom job of putting the supercharger from an Xterra or Frontier S/C on yours... Basically not a whole lot, just your basic better breathing
-
great. thanks for the info guys. i think they will look nice on my r50.
-
Can you tell me how big the center hole is after the cap is off? I can measure mine and compare the sizes to make sure it would fit. Thanks in advance
-
additionally, does anyone know if the center caps are removable and if they will fit over manual hubs? http://baltimore.craigslist.org/pts/755231697.html

Will the 17" wheels off of a Xterra supercharged model fit on our R50s? The offset is 40.
