  1. Just to complete the whole ugly business...when these guys corrected their shabby job they hammered in the shaft so I had another crack in the boot!!! Actually took it somewhere else where they got a new cv shaft which was under warranty and showed me the damage these guys had done!
  2. I had the dealership finally change the fuel filler part. Cel light is back...Is this something I should deal with urgently or can I put it on the second burner? Have some other issues of repair that might have to be taken care of first.
  3. I had the front CV axle replaced, actually bought the whole axle at Advance Auto for $160, ( new, not remanufactured ) they then charged me two a hours labor to put them in. The garage I no longer use messed up the ABS sensor in the process, which eventually was corrected but that is another story. But to tell the whole sordid story, I now have a small crack in one outer front boot again, this is only 3 wks later! A friend told me to silicone the small crack this time. Is that advisable, or should we put a split boot on this time?
  4. Thank you for that info. Will have a friend check this out.. How did you establish the loose charcoal/canister connection? This is not something I should wait too long to have fixed right? Got an appointment with the dealer for the recall, but will not have them fix the CEL light, too costly.
  5. THANK YOU. I just called Nissan and they told me they are replacing the fuel filler tube in all the Pathfinders in the recall you told me bout. I did not even had to give them my VIN #. The Nissan garage guy did not think it was related to the check engine light though. Probably better to use another garage for that problem, have heard how expensive the dealership can be.
  6. Yeah, my confidence in this shop has eroded fast after a lot of BS, but they did not charge me for the ABS repair. Thanks to you guys I could seem to know what I was talking about.
  7. My Pathy came back from the shop today. The mechanic told me the sensor end rod was eroded and hanging on with just a few threads and that it had been disconnected when doing the shafts... Well, the ABS light is off for now... Thank you all!!!
  8. what I have seen nothing looks split but will keep looking...one cap to a hose was not screwed on tightly enough. How would I know if it is the gas filler tube w/o going under the big scan?
  9. Yes, you are right, of course it is by the left wheel. Thanks very much for the info!!
  10. It was a small leak I believe.
  11. It seems to be right by the back right wheel. The mechanic throw out the possibility of the bad canister and valve, evap- valve? He would also do a smoke test. I am tempted to have a friend put them in and buy Nissan parts on line. The shop would charge $300 for the parts.
  12. Have the same problem, got the Autozone scan that read emissions problems, think it was 1440. I replaced the aftermarket gas cap with a a Nissan one. This is 230 miles later....The CEL light came back on after a bumpy road..Also got a gas smell side end of car. Please advise...
  13. Have that problem too. Had it scanned, the handheld type and the guy told me the code read emissions problem. Was told to get a Nissan gas cap instead of after market and that the light would go out after some 100 miles. It has not, CEL came back.... I can also smell gas at the left back end side. Just had my car inspected so I guess no heavy emission leak...got a quote for $400 for this job. Was also told that if it is a valve job that it was not urgent-
  14. Have also been told that because it was a shaft replacement job that I should have the Pathy realigned. Probably not a bad idea also since I just bought this car. Thanks all again, am on my way to the shop.
