  1. It has a check engine light. It is supposed to turn on with key on engine off. Also it is normal for it to turn on in the event of a DTC being set with the California Emissions. If it does not turn on with key on engine off chances are the bulb is burnt out. Other possible causes are faulty ECM or open in a harness.

    New Engine?

As mentioned the only thing that would have to change for the AC is the suction hose. I suspect one from an xterra will work. Also the xterra power steering pump will work with the wd21 hoses. Its been done. As for the alternator, the quest will bolt on just fine and the belt will handle it just fine.
  3. Unfortunate to hear they quit making them. I was starting to get a little excited.does my 93 need them? Dont believe so but it wouldnt hurt since im planning a nice OffRoad build!!
  4. By chance is your 91 a Sport package(rear tire carrier, factory roof rack and original adjustable shocks?

Why get a crank adapter when you can run the Xterra accessories? If anything you just need to get a different low side hose(probably the Xterra hose) for the AC and you are set. You can even put the early Quest Alternator on just by swaping the pulley and push 125 AMPS.

    New Engine?

Cant speak for what is local but the VG33E out of a 1st Gen Xterra will bolt in. The VG33E is rated(depending on year and only because of tuning) 170-180HP and 196-202FT LBS. The belt drive in the Xterra is a little different but closest to the Pathfinder. It has higher flowing heads and a not so agressive cam compared to the VG30E. There are a few thing you have to swap from one to the other to make it work, but overall many have been happy with the swap. I already have a donor engine for my 93 that I nees to go through.
  8. Honestly o would think to look at the Clutch switch if you have a manual. You also habe the inhibit bypass switch on the dash as long as you keep it in neutral(unless you want to move on startup). Those are what i would check.
  9. Sound like you need to take the Speedometer out and clean it. Blow some conpressed air(from a small can) and as a guess some white lithium grease. If lucky that will take care of your issue.
  10. The check valve is built into the fuel pump.
  11. There are definitely two different types of AC for the WD21 and it was trim spacific. During the earlier years there were two trims, the XE and SE. Later on Nissan Added the LE. Cant say if the XE was deleted or not. The two differences was manual and Auto air. I have Auto in my 1993 and i can say its ok. Can you swap from one to another? Dont think so as I feel there are quite a few differences. My suggestion? Just stick with what it came with
  12. Definitely wrong sir. No vacuum the fuel pressue will be about 43 PSI. With full vacuum it will be around 32 PSI. The only way it would exceed that is if it was boosted and the boost causing a little more pressure(my 1983 280zx did that). Personal recommendation, find out what the code is first. After that it will be easier to go to the right place.
  13. You definitely have a problem of sorts. Also the fuel pressue you are seeing is normal. Plenty of things to check.
  14. I know it's been a while but by chance do you remember what the part number was over at napa?
  15. Sorry to resurect this but out of curiosity how well has this been working? Any problems over the last 7 years?
  16. Good to know about this. I have considered the idea of tuning the ECM after doing a VG33E swap on my Pathfinder
  17. So for those of us with the Factory roof rack we can leave it as it is or go to Garvin or Smittybilt for a basket rack that will bolt on. Obviously the Garvin rack is a bit more expensive but there may he a good reason to this. I'm curious as to you preference between the two and why? And if you are wondering I would prefer to go basket rack and im just having to debate bewteen the two.
  18. As nice as they look they would o ly benefit if you are lifting 2 or more inches. Just understand that no matter what the WD21 only has so Mich travel avalible in the front with the independent suspension.
  19. Hello there to many of you still on here!! New to this Forum but not to Nissan. I have been a Mechanic for 9 years(4 years Nissan, 1 year Ford, 1 year Scaterpillar stuff, 1 year independent shop and a little over 1.5 years with Forklifts) and like to stay with good old Nissan's. I have my old 1993 SE Sport that I got a little over a year ago and I plan to make it the adventure vehicle. It's got its own problems but slowly but surely(dont call me Shirley) it is making progress. At one point I did own a 1983 280ZX 2+2 Turbo and a 2016 Frontier. Now i have the 93 Pathfinder and my Grandpa's 1994 Ford F-150 XL that he bough new(not so new anymore and needs an overhaul). I hope to get a lot of information from others here and help others along the way as well!!
