  1. A solid answer indeed for differences in body/cab height. Not something I could figure out easily myself even when looking at the factory service manual for my 93. As for the body mounts I guess it will technically depend on where you get them. I spoke with FlatOut OffRoad in New Zealand where I got my OEM replacement mounts. They also have body lift components in 25 and 50mm kits. Both are simply metal puck kits that rest in-between the body and body mounts. Perhaps other companies are a bit different. As for welding, yeah not up my alley since I do know have the know-how, but I know some individuals.
  2. You are not wrong about me not necessarily wanting to do a body lift. With that said it also seems like no one has a definitive answer on how much higher the body is on the D21. Is it 1 inch? Is it 2 inches? Is it 1.5 inches? Who knows(and the search function sucks). Also I was kinda against the body lift mainly for the fact I thought it replaced the body mounts. Since the factory mounts are retained it may not be a bad idea to consider, I would just need to figure out the rear bumper adjustment since I have yet to see anything about that
  3. Let me get this straight, if I want the ARB bull bar, simply order the one for the D21 and trim the Pathfinder as needed for fitment? As in I probably just need the grille and lights and should be good? If so I like this already
  4. That doesn't mean I can't make an effort to improve the ride. I already installed some Dobinsons shocks on all four corners while already having the Sway-A-Way torsions and Old Man EMU coils. Compared to what was on there and the Old Man EMU Nitrocharger shocks, it was a big improvement. They shine OffRoad and on the street it's not too bad. I'm sure taking care of the body mounts and all my suspension bushings all together will make a big impact overall. It may not be like a Rolls Royce, but it will still be nice
  5. Yes and no. The VG33E fan clutch is a direct bolt on and operates in the same temp range. The one from O'Reilly's is working well for now, so I may just leave it be
  6. U joints are fine as I did check that. I was able to find a bushing for the tailshaft housing of the transfer case(just a question of when I can get it replaced). As for the vibration I got it narrowed down to the engine area and might have just found the problem without knowing it. Was about to start the New Mexico Back Country Discovery Route tomorrow and on my way to Alamosa tonight the Fan Clutch decided to fail in the locked up position with 20-25 miles to go. Thankfully a local auto parts store has one in stock that I'm getting in the morning. Yes it is aftermarket but it is better than nothing.
  7. So recently I started to notice my 93 Pathfinder to have a vibration on Deceleration (slowdown) between 50-60 MPH. I did a little bit of looking underneath and couldn't see any obvious issues. I decided to take a peak at the rear drive shaft and notice an odd bit of play with the slip yoke to the output shaft in the transfer case. The way to describe the play was like the back and forth movement used to check for a bad wheel bearing. Has anyone else run into this before? I won't argue that with almost 300,000 miles it that the slip yoke could have some play as it should be a somewhat softer metal(not by much) that the output shaft of the transfer case.
  8. If they are collapsed it is hard to tell. My thought is simple, the Pathfinder is 32 years old with almost 300,000 miles and I'm sure the mounts are past done to say the least. Because of this I'm sure it does attribute to the rough ride it has. In general the shocks I have now have made a difference, but I'm sure the body mounts and the suspension bushings will help all together when you get down too it.
  9. So I recently got my hands on a complete set of OEM Type Body Mounts. Looking at them it looks like an interesting job to say the least. Who has experience to state on how much of a "fun" job this is? Is it worth taking it to a local body shop so I don't have to deal with the headache? And if you are wondering why I went with OEM type Body Mounts, that is due to wanting to restore comfort of the vehicle and not wanting to do a silly body lift(and it may restore the body height on the frame)
  10. Not sure what makes you think that, but it does monitor the Air Fuel ration at idle with no problems. Depending on what is going on it may go into a fail safe mode and use a preset value for said issue(like the engine coolant temp for example). Now when in open loop the Air Fuel Ratio may not be monitored due to the programming trying to warm the engine up to get to closed loop operation.
  11. This was most likely a combination of the fuel pressure and vacuum leak when you get down to it
  12. So you are aware that particular vacuum line goes straight to the fuel pressure regulator. Besides the vacuum leak it was also causing high fuel pressure at idle. Glad you were able to fix it
  13. Just trying to rule a few things out if anything. I doubt a suspension lift would bother with it. My biggest suggestion is to get ahold of the factory service manual. I know that Nico Club has the available to use. I would utilize it as it will give you all the information you need.
  14. Regardless of gear it should want to idle around 700(+-50) RPM's. Out of curiosity have you done any modifications to the vehicle recently? Also what alternator do you have?
  15. There is a check for the Idle Air Control Valve that would be good to preform. To give you a general idea the idle air control valve does get help from the secondary air valve when cold start happens. The colder it is the higher the idle RPM for starting before going down to specifications(700 +/-50). The idle air can be adjusted with a Phillips screwdriver. Before adjusting it you should perform the check specified in the book.
  16. Along with the new gas struts it may be in your best interest to replace the coil springs in the rear. Assuming you are not interested in lifting the vehicle by a good bit I would suggest going with what's available on Rock Auto or consider the Old Man EMU 2920 springs. The Old Man EMU springs will lift it about 1 inch above factory and technically give a little more.load capacity in a way. Factory spring rate is 160 lbs/inch and the Old Man EMU is 190 lbs/inch.
  17. How old is the fuel? Regardless of Gas or Diesel it does go bad after a period of time. After 9 years I would not want to have old fuel going through the lines. As for Diesel in general I'm not too knowledgeable on what basic stuff to check.
  18. Question for those running the 3 inch suspension lifts. Understanding you may not know the exact specifications of the shocks what shocks(brand and models number) are you running? Im trying to figure some possibilities out for the 93 after this trip I just did over the weekend. Also if anyone might have an idea of the ideal maximum length front shocks is when fully compressed that would be awesome.
  19. Totally understandable, but sometimes the price is a bit steep compared to the Manufacturer price. I understand markup and all, but we all get hesitant from time to time
  20. I had a feeling it was that. Unfortunately they don't have the part numbers for the shocks themselves. If you have a way of finding out that would be great
  21. As a thought as well if you haven't thought about it yet, do the D21 Headlight Swap. All you need is the Headlight Buckets, D21 Grill and H4 Plugs. With that you can run some H4 type 5x7 Headlights. They will still look factory and you will have way more light output compared to what you have now.
  22. So as long as you have a load in them you have no problems? Do you happen to have the part numbers for them? I can already tell you have it lifted and I'm curious if they are specific for the light ft or not.
  23. How is the ride with the Bilstein's?
  24. Might I suggest getting another wheel so you can have a matched spare? That way if you get a flat you are not SOL
  25. In a way you are not wrong, but after looking at the lovely garbage that Toyota has I would still buy Nissan instead..... well in the states at least. If I was Down Under I probably would consider since the 70 series Land Cruiser's are pretty sweet looking. But I would still find myself in a Patrol.
