  1. Thanks for the update on that one! Nice pics of the pulley assembly.
  2. That could be the anti-sway bar links/ bushings... they make a lot of noise when they are dry. Just a thought!
  3. AND a boogered tie rod... damn... I hate wear.

    1. Pav

      Pav

ouch...time waits for no man or truck...

  4. Aww really!?? Ball Joints? I hate doing ball joints.

  5. There is also the possibility that the idle adjustment screw was backed off at some point. Something else to check on after you verify that the base timing is good!
  6. I have been shopping around and what I've found is that with some common flat ground stock in 0.190" it's possible to make a piece of angle that you can slide into place and weld on. I am in the process of working up sections of a complete box welded section from the axle back to the bumper for both sides. Someone before me has already been at it with .250"...
  7. Did you perform the Idle re-learn procedure according to the FSM? In consequence of the distributor movement I would start there before the Idle re-learn and borrow/ rent /steal a timing light. The answer is ~15 degrees Before Top Dead Center...
  8. You may want to try this: http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/pathfinder/TSB/NTB00-056b%20-%201988%20AND%20LATER%20NISSAN%20VEHICLES%20AUTOMATIC%20TRANSMISSION%20OIL%20COOLER%20CLEANING.pdf to start. Next I would suggest as a more reliable replacement something like this from somewhere like here: http://www.summitracing.com/int/search/year/1990/make/nissan/model/pathfinder/department/cooling-heating?N=4294950040%2B4294942485%2B4294935854%2B4294950709&gnview=Horizontal&PageSize=100&SortBy=Default&SortOrder=Ascending
  9. Now in theory could we also have one the is a rear lifting hood also? Ideas on that anyone?
  10. Geez... that's gotta be annoying for everyone else.
  11. And we are all in the same boat.... the question is how do you fix it?
  12. I would drill it out a bit since the sleeve does appear to move in an up-down arc with the suspension ( along the length of the tension rod). Although the correct torque is listed at 100lbs-ft for the bushings and I can't see how that could move much.
  13. May I just recommend that last photo for Photo of the Month, That is a nice photo.
  14. Nope... 05/90 on the door jamb! But it does have 4 wheel disc brakes!
  15. mechanicalbaron..... good handle! Say you don't perchance feel like making your way to Montreal to fix my rear wiper do you?
  16. Has anyone checked the condition of the Fuel Pressure Regulator on the back of the intake? Is the vacuum line into it new? Are all the vacuum lines new? The only other things I can think of is a leaking intake gasket or intake boot. Anyone else?
  17. Repaired the drivers' power window issue ( disconnected blue/orange wire from the power amp. connector). Repaired the inoperable speedo ( disconnected plastic thingy from the cable was stuck in the back of the cluster and not clipped to the cable) and marvelled at the sheer amount of frame welding I am going to be doing this summer. Oy. Vay. Shmears.
  18. Hahay guess what problem I have! I get no clicks from the relay!
  19. Old Skool it is then! I was just really looking for better performance from the rear brakes so maybe I'll install an adjustable brake bias valve so I can get a bit more out of the rears. I can't say I mind not having the ABS from back in the day, I recall that they were lauded as the NEXT BIG THING but really never worked as well as they were supposed to except under a fairly strict set of parameters. I guess it didn't help that common braking techniques were either threshold for car guys and pump-and-release for the other 80% of drivers.
  20. I will go and take a look for that 'cause DAMN it don't work now!
  21. Might I request that this post be "sticky-ed" this is good info!
  22. Soooo.... no ABS either... hmmmm.... that would explain the lockup of all four wheels yesterday on the highway. Oh Well, that just means less stuff to break! Thanks boys!
  23. I did watch the first two episodes last night. I do like the BMW moto.... that guy is c-A-rrrazy doing that stuff with the stock tires! I think I'll watch the rest of the episodes though, I did like the first two.
  24. I was looking for the load-sensing brake valve under the pathfinder on the weekend and I cannot seem to locate it. Where exactly is that creature supposed to be? 1990 4x4 auto with disc brakes at all 4 wheels. It would seem to me that it would be under the truck near the rear axle but I have nothing but an exhaust, spring perches and a fuel tank.
