  1. Check the plate in the engine bay on the passenger side. Should say something like HG 46 or HG 43... I know my 87 d21 says CA 43 (anyone know what ca means?) and my 95 wd21 xe is HG 46
  2. I like that idea, it looks like everything should bolt up the same it's just got the bigger pitman arm, that could work out nicely, cheaper than customizing something else to fit. Didn't think of that, would help it leak less, next time it gets low ill fill it up with that stuff. Prestone? Is it a type of ATF? Just a bit confused on what to look for
  3. It just kind of sweats ATF I did a quick search on rockauto to see if they were the same part number for that whole unit and they are different, didn't say what's different but atlease I know they are now. I think I'm going to investigate what people have done for their sas. Did a quick search and something about a bronco steering box? Maybe someone who has done it could chime in? Anyways I got myself some threads to read through. Thanks precise1!
  4. So been thinking about my power steering leak. Just looks like it's on it's last leg but perfectly smooth if you keep fluid in it. I know the saying don't fix it if it ain't broken, I just want to be prepared for it. Just have a few questions and routes I can take. First thing is can I swap my 95 wd21 power steering unit to my 87 d21? Is that something that would be bolt on? On first glance they look the same but could be different, could always find out the part numbers and compare. Also how are these to swap out? Has anyone done it? I am doing a sas in the spring summer ish, and I have heard people converting there steering system to the 2wd version, can someone explain to me the advantage to this? And or do you think this would be a better route with the solid axle? Maybe I don't even have too, I know it helps with lifted ifs. Anyways just a thought. I have been talking about going for hydrolic steering, would be nice, but at first ill only be running 33's at the largest just seems unnecessary. And I know steering is one of those things you want to get right lol if anything else breaks down atlease you can steer out anyways just debating on what to do, thinking what route you guys would take? thanks for your inputs and advice in advance!
  5. Same issue in my old wd21, big puddle lights came on a minute later, searched it right away on my fancy mans iphone found it to be an alternator issue looked under the hood it was mud brown everywhere. cleaned the compartment out in the morning, no issues since. could also be a grounding issue in the system (most likely something faulty in the alternator) measure the output voltage on the alternator to make sure that's the issue before, if you don't known a meter a shop can do it for 20$ sometimes free if you sweet talk em. It's a little bit scary when all those lights go off at you, at the moment I also had my check engine, window washer, and tire carrier lights on my dash was lit up more than a Christmas tree
  6. The price difference on the filters were surprising, Fram is usually 6-8$ and the Mobil 1 was 14$ at Canadian Tire What would you recommend for air filter?
  7. They have 89' in there, could be close I'm pretty sure it was 86.5-89 they ran the same model if I'm not mistaken, just looking for something to reference to when I do an engine swap. You strike again ahardb0dy, thanks man! (Good thing you didn't leave eh? )
  8. Service manuals for hardbody? Hanes only goes so far.. And to note they only have owners manual for pathfinder 95 and up (weird they start at 95?) and no hardbody manuals
  9. Honestly got it by accident, just grabbed it and went, got home and realized it was 5w20 but I don't seem the harm? That's why I never returned it.
  10. ^thats what I used 2' 1/2" breaker bar but I didn't have to push it with my feet then again, I blasted them with penetrant (orange can from princess auto) the night before, 2-3 hours before, and right before I did it. Only one rusted in but with some love with a rubber mallet it came out. I highly recommend (if you have 10$ and want the job to go by 3 times quicker) is a RATCHETING 15/16th wrench!! I was only able to turn it 1/6th of a turn every time... Pita
  11. Washed the truck today got all the sand and mud off, also did an oil change. Changed oil from 5w 30 to 5w 20 (of course always synthetic) and changed oil filter brand from Fram to mobile 1 and holy look at the size difference The new one it giant compared to Fram, maybe this will be better? I dunno I just swapped to a synthetic filter, Fram doesn't make one for the z24 engine, just a conventional filter but really, is their a difference?
  12. Hmm a quick easy thing you could do is change the fuel filter? When's the last time that was changed? That would be my first test. Air filter would be second. Is it during start up, like when it's warm it runs fine? Or is it all the time? Could be an injector issue with lack of power? Any codes popping up, check engine?
  13. it's touches me too. I have completely gone away from doing a cummins swap to my d21 and now I have been keeping an eye on Craigslist, checking weekly for any nissan terrano or patrols up for grabs in BC not getting my hopes up yet since I'm not planning the swap for some time but when something does come up I can jump on it. If I can find a patrol I'm pretty sure they come with a td42 and a front h233b which I could use for my sas. That would be ideal situation but chances are that won't happen lol I just been doing a lot of thought between a td27 and a td42. I want power and I know I can build up a td27 to give my 200hp+ 300ft/p+ but I feel that's asking for trouble with a little motor like that, and do I want to spend that on upgrades when a td42 would have the power and torque I'm looking for with minimal upgrades. I joined a patrol forum a while back before I found out about npora, might pick their brains ask them some questions about the motors to give me more information (ill be sure to post them on here) lol their is so many options but which one is ideal? I think by the end of this project ill be on the verge of insanity
  14. Hmm in that case I might go for the 3000's instead of the 1000's might be a little softer but it will have a lot more life, I ended up paying 45$ a shock and I think the 1000's were 35$ a shock. I hope my advice helps
  15. I was going to go with the es1000's for my truck (d21) but ended up spending a bit extra and getting the es3000 and so far loving them, stiffer but that's the ride I am looking for, I heard that the es1000 are even stiffer but that's looking at reviews. I used them as stock replacements, not too concerned about extra length and collapse length. I can't say too much for DJM never used them never looked them up. Personally I would go for the pro comps reason being, less collapse length. But that's my opinion.
  16. I can answer atlease one of your questions, and that is to do with the shock hitting the UCA, I installed es3000 on the weekend, and they were defiantly hitting but with some love from a grinder I took out about 1/4" deep and 1" - 1 1/2" right where it was hitting, shouldn't cause any structural issues. I hope you can find answers to the rest of your questions
  17. Man that's a steal! Good find. I think I might follow you, I am going to be doing an sas to my hardbody and I know I'm going to have a lot of questions, this might help me out a great deal, personally I am going to run hydro steering, I know it's going to cost a pretty penny but for the direction I want to go in, it will help in the long run. Looking forward to seeing this come together!
  18. Just wondering what you ended up paying for that? It looks like it came with all the suspension and steering components.
  19. Now that's how you transform a 2 door pathy very cool and a bit inspiring, thanks for the posting the information!
  20. Although I don't know who has this, I must say that's a sexy rig, love the rear end chop looks like the first that touches is the wheels, can't say too much more without more details but it looks good. would be heavily interested in the build thread as well, currious to see how it was done.
  21. As an electrician I have an overwhelming desire to smack the po of your truck Anyways Excellent find! This is a nightmare waiting to happen especially if I connection came loose and shorted out causing an ark, bad news near your gas tank.
  22. Oh excellent, thanks for the information! Looking forward to seeing the finish product, good luck guys!
  23. I am heavily interested in this... I have a parts 95 xe standard, I know that is a tx-10 but what about my hardbody, is that a tx-10 as well (87 z24 standard)
  24. My guess would be to check the resistance, their might be a bit of a high resistance on one but when you put your foot down it might not have enough resistance to indicate it? But then it should be on during idle... Strange issue, hope this helps
  25. Yeah, I guess your right, would be the cheapest route, I'm also going to look into the spacer as well, might be a good idea to replace
