  1. 120,000 miles EGR yes Heads have never been off, so bolts / studs are original No programming, it did have Banks at one time but it's been removed. Can you tell me why it stalls out when trying to climb up a small 3" ledge but can go through mud and ruts in 4 hi just fine? I hate the traction distribution on this when in 4 wheel. I don't understand if I put the tires up against a curb, it cannot will not walk up it from a stand still...it's like the auto trans or the turbo holds up the torque.
  2. I'm clearly missing something here, nunya can you please share with the rest of the class? I haven't watched the vid yet, I'm on my phone in a gas station, but I'm not doing a damn thing more on that friggin heap o Ford. It's running great, fine not touching it until it needs it again. To take the lift off is more money, and a different config Pittman arm. And yes the truck does now have a lift gate on the back for loading.
  3. Nope, not an Aggie, why? What you got against Aggies? Hell man that's what makes America strong and the guys who'll probably save all our asses, that would be the Agricultural and Military communtity. I'd be proud if my son got accepted to A&M.
  4. Well, when this truck was lifted it was the bosses daily driver and I guess he just wanted it to look cool, and he could look all tough and macho when pulling onto a job site, I don't know. It just like us wanting to lift our personal vehicles...but it turns out on this truck to destroy the front end, I guess it puts too much stress on it. Did I mention this is a young truck? 120,000 miles. And those 13.50" wide tires don't handle so well either.
  5. Yes, I know the "35" (they're not) tires are too small for the lift that 4 wheel-stick it up your culo-Parts performed on this..worst thing ever..I hate that company and I hate what they do to people, the lift on this truck was a horrible idea.
  6. It seems I may have mentioned briefly in the past that we had two shop trucks in our business, of course you're all familiar with my Silverado and the other is an 05 F250 6.0 Power Stroke, PS (Piece of Shinola). That truck used to be the boss' daily driver until he got his over priced 4 runner.. So the truck sat..and I would drive it occasionally just to get it running and sometimes use it for heavy hauls across town. Driving it takes getting used to, especially because of the 5 or 6" lift and 35" tires...it's impossible to turn the wheel unless you're moving and then there's the dreaded ford steering gear box which on a good day has about an inch or so of play in it.... Well, a few months ago we got a new guy to drive and I finally have help...he's driving the F250 now...well it didn't take long until it was damn near un drivable, front end was real squirrely and we ended up spending about 3800 getting the front end rebuilt and straightening out the steering, everything except the pitman arm. 1 month later, guess what..back in the shop...replace the pitman arm. And then the turbo intercooler tube is cracked, now the turbo can't boost...sigh, there's another $250.... I get the truck out of the shop and it's got no power...! I do a little research, watch about ten videos on you tube....go get a bottle of Kleen diesel fuel conditioner and Sunday morning I drive the flagging beast up to my shop to remove and clean the EGR valve. Truck had no power off idle until boost would finally build about 3 or 4 seconds later and then whoooosh off it would almost go...with a limp. So I got the EGR out and holy carbon-constipation! I couldn't see through the damn thing! I sprayed it with PB blaster and Bug and Tar remover and took a flathead screw driver to it, and then a good strong scrub brush and cleaned it up nice, got the valve opening and closing and put it back in and voila! Truck ran a lot better. I forgot to mention I'd put about half a bottle of that Kleen diesel fuel conditioner in the tank and then filled up, changed the egr the next day, returned the truck back to Danny, he took it out on deliveries the next morning and it ran great....until he climbed one our giant toll bridges, then all Holy Hell broke loose. He called me up "Truck has lost power, it's blowing plumes of black gray smoke!" I met up with him on the road and began to escort him back to our shop so we could work on it...during the drive, he was able to "blow it out" I'm sure we rivaled a volcanic eruption for the amount of pollution emitted but it was able to clear itself up...we got back to the shop and all was well. Truck ran fine again. That happened again on his way home, he powered through it. Next day, he calls me "Dude! The truck is running great! Better than it ever did!" Even now, up to this point now, it's got soo much more power now than it did before. We guessed all the drama was due to the Kleen purging through the dirty injectors and opening them up and now they are flowing, combined with my egr clean. That damn truck has cost us an arm and a leg and now were just hoping it'll stay unbroken long enough to get some work out of it. It makes me feel good that Danny's driving in a reasonable vehicle now, steering safely and running like a top. I wish we could just get rid of it and get him in a more practical vehicle but we're too upside down on it...it's gotta work for about a year or so now, no repairs. No more money on this heap, cuz no one is going to pay 10 grand for it. So If you have one of these GEMS and you've got steering or power issues with it, I might be able to help you or point in the right direction.
  7. Damn...it must have bed bugs or someone died in it or something. Yeah, I'd be really worried about the other shoe to drop.... Great find Sir. I'm (cough) really happy for you. No death wobble? You need to get it to a mechanic you trust and let him check it out.
  8. Sweet! That's great man Count those, stick it in your back pocket or frame it on a shelf because you don't get very many. Identifying a problem, taking corrective action and then enjoying the reward benefits immediately with not a drop of blood spilled...everything worked out and you're on to your next project. That's fantastic.
  9. Maybe its just going through an initial break in period? Might want to try some high pressure white lithium grease at all the stressed / lubri points. I've seen a spray can of it in the podunk little hardware store in my town.
  10. .....wait...just a minute, you're telling me that the short, fat springs are the REAR JGJ springs? And the tall skinny ones (that closely resemble our rear springs) are from the front? I've got a pair of each and I know which ones I'm going to use...obviously, but I thought those tall skinny ones were from the rear as well...and as far as shocks go, I don't think it's too much of a stretch to stay with the normal shocks, I'm certainly going to try. Hey Rambo I don't mean to hijack your thread, not trying to...just think of me posting here as your lift brother and we're in the same boat. I've already taken one swipe at it, I'm like a blind squirrel, eventually I'm gonna find me a nut ....and pretty soon...once I get a chance and a free weekend unburdened with crap, I'm going to finish mine and I'll be able to share my results with you, here in your thread. And I'm not cutting anything off these babies: 264 KG ? Kilograms? What's that about?
  11. I don't really know much about speakers and amps and stuff myself, but I can already tell you now, everyone is going to say it's the factory amps. There is a lot of info in this forum about bypassing the factory amps, and the consensus that your system will sound much better afterwards. It works in your brother's truck but not in yours, that's why. Don't ask me how , I have no clue how to do the bypass but I'm sure that's it, or atleast a large contributing factor anyway. I had a Sony Xplod 52 watt per channel head unit installed in my ride with four RF Prime 5x7s and that system friggin rocks out man, quite often I tell myself, naaa I don't need an amp at all!!! And then there are other times...but my point is I had the head unit professionally installed at Car Toys...I'm assuming they did the bypass and that's why it sounds good even with no after market amp.
  12. Do R50s have one coil that provides voltage to a distributor? If so, I'd like to tell you a little tale about what happened to me in my wd21. The family and I were headed down the freeway one morning, and I was accelerating hard up to about 90 I guess and then all of a sudden the engine died, we coasted to a stop and I began to diagnose: Engine temp fine, engine turns over when I try to start, have got plenty of juice in the battery, and plenty of gas, there's no oil / water / steam pouring out of it...no mechanical failure to be detected anywhere and timing belt was replaced last year, checked all fuses and relays, all in good shape, nothing fried. Got towed to a mechanic near my house, he goes in there and turns the key...engine starts and runs. Apparently the coil had overheated and just quit. It was an MSD blaster. So naturally I pulled it and stuck the oem factory coil back on and that was it. No further problem. Your deal sounds similar, did you ever try to start again after a couple of hours?
  13. Pure camping genius, I love it. Does it come with the dog too?
  14. I haven't bought one, though I'd like to. What I told you is just my general plan for what I'd like to do to my truck, I wish I had a new exhaust, mine is hanging loose and completely rusted and groaty.. Here, look at this: https://supercoupeperformance.com/partBrowser.aspx?partId=158 I had to go universal because it seems kinda hard to find stuff for that year model pathfinder and also, if you use the year make and model, then you don't get a choice of in/out diameter, so this way you can throw a universal cat in there that has a little larger diameter and will flow a lot more exhaust. I would just really want to avoid a highway drone...that's why I liked how the Thrush Mad hot sounded, here: http://m.thrushexhaust.com/mufflers/thrush-mad-hot-muffler that, right there just does it for me man...I likey..
  15. Well, it's not sexy fun like a lift but I'd have to go with exhaust. I'd put a 2 1/4" high flow cat and Thrush Mad Hot in there, really high flow with hardly any sound. That would improve the driveability of your truck and you would enjoy it again, even without the lift. Anyway, we've got it made, our lifts are dirt cheap.
  16. Well it turns out there wasn't much to see as both spacers had already cracked and fallen apart and were mostly gone having fallen to the road while driving. Here are a couple of pics for what they are worth. <a href="http://s195.photobucket.com/user/gv280z/media/Mobile%20Uploads/20140807_082505_zps3b07e9px.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z29/gv280z/Mobile%20Uploads/20140807_082505_zps3b07e9px.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20140807_082505_zps3b07e9px.jpg"/></a> <a href="http://s195.photobucket.com/user/gv280z/media/Mobile%20Uploads/20140807_082833_zpsjumx8wuw.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z29/gv280z/Mobile%20Uploads/20140807_082833_zpsjumx8wuw.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20140807_082833_zpsjumx8wuw.jpg"/></a> <a href="http://s195.photobucket.com/user/gv280z/media/Mobile%20Uploads/20140807_083110_zpsr3urtomi.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z29/gv280z/Mobile%20Uploads/20140807_083110_zpsr3urtomi.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20140807_083110_zpsr3urtomi.jpg"/></a>
  17. *I don't have pics YET* -BUT- I do have a little bit of new information regarding this subject: About two weeks ago Tx4x4Path helped me (he did all the work in his garage... ) install my rubber coil spacers under the rear coils which were a little over an inch in thickness. I got those spacers from O'Reilly auto parts for about 5 bucks a piece. They are complete crap. They have already cracked and splayed out under the weight of the vehicle sitting on them under the coils. As far as I can see, the WD21 has two lift options for the rear: A - (Most popular) Jeep Grand Cherokee springs B - Fleurys HDPE scalable spacers *Only spacer option I would recommend after my experience with these shown in the links below* I have since already procured myself a set of JGJ rear springs off craigslist but have yet to install them. Don't use these : Don't use them like this nor under the coil spring...these things suck. Fleurys spacers are the only spacer. I will have pics soon of my cracked and splayed spacers as they sit under my coils before removing them and installing the JGJ lift, and Tx4x4Path and I are going to re-index my bars at the same time to provide my front lift.
  18. Why not go ahead and try it, it may provide some water shed.
  19. I think it's your starter, I've experienced something very similar, if not this exact scenario before and it was a bad starter. You could probably try turning the key back and forth trying to start ten times over and it may catch a time or two. If not the starter, then Ignition relay maybe? That's easier to check, start there with the relay.
  20. That's just dry rot, those are old tires...yep, you are due some new tires. Why not check out the TBC private brands eh? Actually, I think the treadwrights are in the same price category as the TBC and Hercules as well, if you want budget tires. Check this out, Cooper Cobra radial gt in a 255 70 15 for $90 a tire at Discount tire: http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/findTireDetail.do?ra=searchTiresBySize.do&fl=&tc=COPPA1&c=2&rcz=77598&pc=27887&ar=70&rf=true&rd=15&rc=TSEINT&cs=255 http://www.tbcprivatebrands.com/ they are all pretty much the same, I kinda like the look of the Wild Country XTX and the Trail Cutter rt, as those seem to be the most aggressive all terrains offered. Txpath4x4 has a set of the Hi-flys if you want an opinion of those, I wheeled with him once and he didn't get stuck...so they seemed to do okay. Also, don't count out your local used tire shop, you can find some great deals on a set of used tires in some of those places. I've got a full set of Nitto Terra grapplers (3 actually, one is a Toyo Open country A/T2 but it's pretty close!) on my work truck with lots of tread, really good meat left on them, 4 tires 265 75 17s mounted and balanced for $200 dude, can't beat it. I'm sorry, I forgot your link you posted showing those all tracs, those look good man, I liked a couple of those Herc tires, they look like they'd be good in wet weather and ride good, here you go, I found a link for these. http://www.offroaders.com/reviewbox/showproduct.php?product=661
  21. That's exactly where my rust was! Middle and drivers side, exactly. Infact the middle was really bad, the guy had to do a little paint work after he fixed it, meaning that's how much he had to dig into it to get all the cancer, clean it up and then I'm guessing bondo, dry and paint. Damn, 600 man..that's rough, sorry to hear that, after all it's not like you were just walking around one day, having 600 bucks burning a hole in your pocket, looking for something useful to do with itself.
  22. I didn't even see the wobble, and I was looking for it. I think it's something like a compressor pulley bearing going out, or the alternator belt needs tightening
  23. yes please use all the parts that come with your shocks in those little baggies, there are no extra parts meaning when your done, every rubber bushing and every washer will have been utilized. You may want to check your torsion bars, you could put Bilsteins on there but if your front end has no or very little spring pre-load tension, the shocks won't work very well.
  24. I rode a Yamaha XT350 for about 3 years and it was great, I loved it until I got bored with it, but I never was able to do any stunts or anything crazy on it, I could barely wheelie it. Thing I always wonder about these guys is I'd like to know how much carnage all their previous bikes and their human bodies themselves had to recover from, all the wrecks and bad spills they must have had to get to be as good as they are now, riding stand up wheelies sitting backwards on the gas tank while doing a 100 mph down the highway...I mean..wtf? Like, how do you practice that without dying a few times in between? Worst thing I ever did on a motorcycle was rent a Honda Hornet 600 (naked, no fairing, no wind protection, nothing except my full face helmet and visor) and try to find my way around Rome, Italy. That was sad.
  25. Oh my God I had no idea there was so much great information in this thread, my first time in this one. I'm going to come back here for ideas often! I've got a really simple hit and a miss for you guys. Last night we were cooking ready to bake ribs in the oven for an hour and a half at 375, well around the 25 minutes left mark I just layed about 5 strips of bacon cross-wise on the rack of ribs, it came out good, bacon was nicely cooked and a great garnish for the ribs. Here's my miss: I've been wanting to try this for a long time, well, I finally did it: Deep Fried Bacon tossed in seasoned flour and dredged in two well beaten eggs and fried up in a skillet with medium hot oil. Believe me, it sounds so much cooler than it really is. It wasn't terrible, my son and I ate all 6 pieces I fried up but it just wasn't that great and not worth the effort, time, mess and ingredients. So, it's the first and last time and I can close that little leaflet and throw it away, and done.
