  1. Thanks for the heads up (I'm close to Charlotte). I'm just blowing my savings on new windows for the house, a new tv, and a new riding mower .. "weeee!"
  2. Well said. I would not hold this against your mechanic at all. In fact, I'd probably trust him more after this.
  3. I don't really know after reading these posts. I'd just say hop on one leg while rubbing your tummy and patting your head with the key 1/4 turn and then do the "Humpty dance". I bet your CEL goes away at some point?
  4. It's all good man. Back in the late eighties and early nineties I had, not one but, two lowered Chevy Astro vans. One even had only two seats because I had a wall of sub woofers! Sure my right ear has terrible hearing now but, I understand the lowering mind set. Hugging the ground is cool on the pavement.
  5. It's not the popular choice around the off-road crowd but, at least he loves his Pathy like we love ours. Well, we experience more lift, minimal at best, running larger diameter tires. The same could be gained (or lost, if you will) running a lower profile tire. However, this would be a push if the OP runs a larger diameter wheel which seems to be the direction of choice the low rider guys are looking for.
  6. It looks like the R51 springs have a more drastic taper. I don't recall any taper on my lift springs.
  7. You guys talked me into the Bosch filters a while back. I recall having engine tick on start up for years. Since I've changed filters, the tick has stopped.
  8. I know, I know. I can only vote once .. sheesh! Oh wait, you are encouraging those who haven't voted yet. You heard the man ... only one week to go!
  9. If you paint them you might void any warranty ... just putting that thought in your head. Muhahahaha!
  10. Now that is something I would love to do. I could get rid of my make shift base ball bat "prop rod" for working on the driver side engine bay.
  11. True that. It could be arcing and loosing the spark on a weak wire. Although, that usually just causes a misfire on a single cylinder. Still worth a look though.
  12. The shops insurance (or the shop its self) will take care of any damages, not yours. My friend is a mechanic at a local "moms and pops" garage here in town. They do really good work, are honest, and make mistakes from time to time. Last summer, two of the three mechanics were helping each other out on a simple oil change. One of them drained the oil and changed the filter while the other guys were problem solving another car. Then, when the guy that was changing the oil went over to help diagnose the problem, the garage owner backed the car out and handed the keys to the customer before any one put new oil in the motor. The lady made it half way across town before the motor seized All were embarrassed but, they did replace the motor with out turning it in to their insurance.
  13. Where did I read (probably someone here) that said, "If you can't fix it, you don't own it".
  14. Nice description using your "Swiss Army Knife" of a truck and glad you and the kid are okay.
  15. I like this evil planning that "us" R50 owners have. Our plan will eventually get exposed by those body on frame guys so, lets not hesitate to vote!
  16. Actually, I cut it pretty good with an extra sharp pair of shears. This photo was taken just hours after I got out of the hospital. It was hurting like a biotch. You would think by the size of the gauze that I lobbed it off and had it reattached.
  17. ughh .... double post. It's not me. No. Rather, the lag. Yeah .. that's it .. the lag. The very same excuse I use when someone shoots me on my online FPS games. Stupid Nunya. I mean ... "lag".
  18. Very true as I only lock in my hubs at trail heads .. never on pavement. I just recently started to notice that my treads on the same tires you have (GY Duratracs) are starting to wear in the middle of the tread. I am currently running with 40 psi on all four corners. Who was it that suggested running 35 psi front and 32 psi rear? I'm going to adjust to those pressures and re-check my MPG's. My quest is to look for better wear .. not fuel millage.
  19. I've seen a similar difference in my 1.6L Miata. At least I'll keep telling myself that as it is my "baby". The Pathy is for weekend runs to the dump, trail riding, and multi-peeps hauling around town .. shoot, might as well throw in a tailgate excursion or five during fooseball season. I'll just keep with Town's "don't waste my $" attitude with La Blanca.
  20. Geeeezzz ... I'm starting to feel that I'm lucky with my "no camber problems" after theexbrits and snow's issues. I had my AC springs for a couple of months before I bought my 1" spacers from PAmountainbiker. The only camber adjustments I've made was from using four camber bolts (two per side) that I installed when I put the new strut assembly together on the initial install. I have had zero problems from the lift. I even had crazy front flex going over some rocky trails w/o my cv's "grenading". Maybe when this weather clears I'll go out and take some pics of my front suspension. This pic is with Vajayjay in 4-lo. No funny sounds. No grease splaters. Just shaking up the beer in the cooler in the back!
