I would ditto that comment. I was thinking 5:13's or higher. The way the rest of the drivetrain is set up, 4.88's are only a small step above stock gearing, that's good for what...32's? Heh. I realize packie88's choice of gearing isn't due to personal choice, it's what is available at the time. Who wants to spend $500+ on just one axle's worth of gears?

4-6" is a conservative estimate on the body lifts, man. I think I recall seeing 12" lifts being used.

I don't think you'll be able to carry a front axle unless you strip it completely down and take the parts out in a wheelbarrow. Doable, but it'll take a bit of work in the dirt. 83-89? Jeep Wagoneer(Grand Wagoneer) is one, I believe. You want the NON-VACCUUM axle, which has a vacuum line going from it up to the engine compartment. The vac-lock ones were bad. I don't know the exact details, but that's what I remember.

Just Threw My First Code, Heated Oxygen Sensor
88pathoffroad replied to LD50's topic in General Forums
I think you were watching the diagnostic selector mode where it flashes once, twice, three times, four times, five times and then repeats. After it flashes three times you're supposed to turn the screwdriver back all the other way and then release it. Then it will flash any stored codes. This is all written up in the How-To section... :tonguefinger: -
Body lifts are fine in my book. I've had mine installed for more than 5 years now, not one problem. The rear bumper moves up to a different set of holes on the frame and requires two new bolts, that's it. The front bumper gets relocated with the body lift kit brackets. If you don't want to have a see-through look inside the rear fenderwells, get some cheap rubber mat or flooring from Home Depot or a couple of generic mud flaps from a parts store and cut them to size, then screw them on. If you get a 4x4 HB truck next to your Pathy sometime, take a look at how much frame is exposed on those STOCK. It's not that bad, really.

Procomp Shocks - Received The Wrong Ones
88pathoffroad replied to flnl's topic in 90-95 WD21 Pathfinders
Dang, those are really too long for a stock height Pathy. I ran some shocks that long on the rear of mine, but I have about 4.5" of lift in the rear. -
Looks like an Alpine kit to me. Even says so in the pic. *shrug* Stillen makes an SC kit for 05-up VQ40's. Freaking expensive, though. http://www.thenissanpath.com/viewtopic.php?t=153 http://www.stillen.com/product.asp?id=STISUPR06

What exactly are the down sides to having a body lift?

SAFC's are getting cheap and common in fine-tuned vehicles anymore. When you want to get into perfect stoich ratios and deal with everything all at once it's the only way to go. Cool stuff. Interesting. I wonder how much hydrogen an on-board generator can produce.

Checking In, And I Just Spent A Grip Of Money
88pathoffroad replied to lovebunny's topic in General Forums
What, you have top speed problems with a Ranger? Why would you want to go faster than it already does? It's a truck, man. My little brother has a black one exactly like yours. LTNS! -
Oh. Check your ECU error codes. There's a pinned How-To on that in the Garage under the How-To section.
-
When they're full retail price? Heh.
-
That's the mass airflow sensor, and check the wiring plug for bent pins or looseness.
-
On that note, I couldn't pass this deal up and bought some new PIAAs. $189 new? Try $40 instead. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...7601&rd=1,1

Why didn't you just upload the pics on the forum post page? *shrug* The reason for the center vents being cheesily fixed is that the vents screw on from the INSIDE of the dash. You'd have to take the whole shebang off to put new ones in. I checked on the 89 I had. Crazy design...

How To Permanently Disable Alarm?
88pathoffroad replied to pvpathy's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
Why don't you replace the door switch? They don't cost that much. It's a simple on-off switch. -
I don't think you have to move anything...a gas can will fit on the right, won't it?
-
Yeah, give the radiator a good wash-out with some degreaser if possible. That could help.
-
That looks like an old driveline brake, the switch is for the adjustable shocks, and the extra wiring under the seat may be pre-existing wiring for heated seats. The stock alarms tend to crap out and require disconnecting after a while anyway.
-
Dude, you have to be kidding me. You've never seen a SAS'ed Pathy rock crawling or doing hard trails? Check the Pics and Vids section again, there's some good ones out there.

Manual transmission TSB
88pathoffroad replied to madkiwi's topic in Technical Service Bulletins & Recall Information
The 4-cyl transmissions are different and the TSB doesn't apply to them AFAIK. -
I think converting a rear axle to a front would be the last resort if you have NO other options. That's a lot of work.
-
Slip-yoke?
-
Take the spare off while you're working on getting the carrier to swing, that may help reduce the drag on the pins as well.

My home-built AMD PC has been running XP SP2 for over three years without many issues besides an occasional BSOD on bootup. I leave it running fulltime and the only thing I've had to replace was a video card with a bad fan. *shrug* Macs have their good points, so do PC's. I don't care to learn a whole new OS, so the Mac I have is currently being used as a mouse stand beside my chair.
