There's nothing to really tune up, actually. Find out about boosting the turbo output a bit, that'll help. That's about all you can do with the Nissan TD...

I'd say a small spacer (up to 5mm or so) wouldn't hurt as long as your wheel studs are long enough. If they're not, you'll need to install new studs to accomodate the spacers, which is a PITA.

Mine scrapes on everything when I get angular off-road. And it's not even a reciever hitch, it's a crappy 3/4" thick ball-bolt-on hitch.

Yeah, there's a bulb or two in there. Must be popped. You can get to them fairly easily by taking off the stereo surround trim and the ashtray. Then the A/C and heater face control plate pops off so you can get to the light bulbs.

Shxt, my first car was a $300 Datsun 210 hatchback I bought from a buddy at work by myself. Replaced the head gasket twice, did the clutch, the brakes, worked on anything that broke when it happened on my own dollar. My next car was a $50 Plymouth Sapporo that just needed a clutch cable, mwuahahaha. Good deal on that one, the new clutch cable was only about $15. I drove that thing around until I sold it for $800 to a couple of semi-friends with a rich mom. Finally got my Laguna for $1100, then my dad gave me his very-dented and rusty old '83 Chevy work van(worth about $100 in trade-in value) and I sold the Datsun to some Mexican guy living in Boardman, Oregon. Shortly thereafter the van's water pump went out and stranded me on the side of I-5. You know how it goes... No such parent-payments or help for me(besides my dad giving me the van), they all have their own bills to pay. I've never been in a situation where anyone gave me anything like that. ...which is not to say that it's a bad thing that your parents are able to and do help you and your brother keep your cars running, that must be a nice thing for you. Savor it until you don't have it anymore, I guess...

Would've been nice to see some of that enthusiasm come out when I was heating my house with a goddamn propane stove and lighting it with candles, but hey, I guess I just wasn't around to talk about it. I only just a couple of weeks ago got my power, gas and water all turned back on. They were all off for almost a month because I lost my last job and they screwed me on unemployment. Don't pity Jim for having to pay a lot for hosting. The only one he can blame for costing him extra $$ is himself. I told him he needed to switch hosting companies a long time ago. There are a MILLION hosting companies that can do the exact same thing for $9 a month, just like my forums.

Having Admin priveleges has nothing to do with upgrading or updating the forum software. I'd LOVE to upgrade the forum software. You need access to the hosted webspace this forum occupies on a server somewhere so that you can upload new updates, configure access permissions and back up the existing forum as a whole. The only person who can do that no longer has a computer or internet at home to use...MrJim. His Pathy is broken down right now too. The clutch went out on it. He's also going through a divorce. I spoke to him a week or so ago. I can try to give him a call and see what we can do...and allright, Filthy Luker, I'll increase the PM box sizes. Good idea.

Yup. I'd check the tie rods, UCA bushings, BJ's, tension rod bushings and cups, and the idler arm bushings...just go over the whole front end and check tightness, wiggle, etc. I can't see any real way to screw up the CL geometry by modding it like Lee does because he uses a jig to weld them up so it goes on the same way and angle every time...and the tie rods both bolt on the same as they used to.

Do a search for the online FSM link...it has EVERY wiring diagram in it.

Personally, I see no reason whatsoever for the ignition system to have spontaneously failed when it ran out of gas. I'd pull the output hose from the fuel filter, stick on a longer piece of hose, put a bucket under it and make sure there's fuel pressure still. If not, you know where to look next. Fuel pumps have a bad habit of dying if you run your tank out of gas. Since fuel cools the pump as it runs (because it's running 100% of the time the engine is running), without any fuel the pump overheats...and it's been running for over 100,000 miles already, hasn't it?

I believe the switch that makes the shift indicator lights work is on the transmission.

I got mine used from Ebay, they came from a Japanese Terrano. You guys leave the kid alone, he hasn't even had the chance to try them on yet. Maybe the differences in the lights won't make that much difference in overall look from a distance.

Simply take your time and get the little wiring issues and such taken care of before worrying about the new tires and alignment. You probably want to wait until you can do both at the same time anyway, right? The problems you're describing are really very minor things that can be taken care of by an average Joe with some guidance and information. Just ask and we can help you.

Common problem, worn-out rear axle control arm bushings. Do a search on it and you'll find all the info you need.

Have someone that knows what they're looking at inspect your steering components and front suspension. A lot of things can make a scraping vibration or noise if worn or damaged. It's hard to diagnose any "noise" or "feels like" problems without being able to see it for yourself, you know?

I still have no idea what year Pathy we're trying to fix over the internet here. AS USUAL.

The door plate has the build date on it, open your driver's side door and look. Maybe the previous owner just got the year wrong.

ARB is the only company that makes a front diff locker. Look it up.

You could warm up the gear oil indoors first, that'd thin it out and speed up the drain time. "Honey, what's this in my new pot on the stove? It smells TERRIBLE!" "Um, oops, um, ah, let me just take that outside..." *runs*

That's only with a welded differential. Tire wear is near-normal for me so far and I've had my locker in for three years now. Tires aren't meant to last forever, you know. By the way, nobody makes a spool or minispool for the H233B, all available lockers are "automatic" lockers which free-wheel around corners...EXCEPT the ARB (when locked) of course. Just so you know.

As a simple check, double-check your plug wires to make sure one of the tips didn't pull off or something when you changed the plugs...look for cracks in the insulation on each plug wire also.
