  1. Yup, I've got a Firestik II thats 4 feet and it serves me very well. Just like Dan mentioned, I've got it tuned to just about 1:1 across all the channels. I've chatted with people on the freeway that were 50 miles away.
  2. Yes I agree about the winters. They were great through the snow and pretty decent on ice. I've always praised these tires. Its just one of those unfortunate situations.
  3. I agree with you somewhat but the gaps that are between the treads are particularly larger than the average AT tire IMO, especially after 30k miles. Like I said, I was kind of expecting that something was going to happen soon after all these tires have been through.
  4. LOL...the other side of the sidewalls, where the white letters are, are also pretty thrashed as well. I doubt that would have made a difference. I've been praising these tires since day one. This is the only time I've ever said anything negative about them. But for what its worth, these tires have gone through quite a lot and to have to replace one after all that, I guess I saw it coming but again, I would never have thought a little pebble would lead to the demise of this tire.
  5. So after about 30k miles I have a good overall feeling of how these tires have treated me these past few years. My final consensus on these tires is that I will probably try the Geolander's as my next AT tire. Today, after driving about 20 miles on washboard gravel roads up to the Boulder River, I realized that one of the rocks found its way in between one of the tread marks and the rest is history. The worst part is that I was driving about 10 miles with it mostly flat before realizing anything was wrong. By then the sidewalls were pretty much paper thin and I could hear the air hissing from the pebble. When I finally pulled over, my lug wrench did not fit my lug nuts. The wrench was too big. We're in the middle of the no where, no cell service. Luckily, less than 1/4 mile up the road, there were a whole bunch of fire crews that had a road block set up and they happened to have a lug wrench that worked. IMO the gaps between the treads are too wide and encourage rocks to get wedged up there and with the rubber in those gaps are MUCH thinner than the rubber that makes up the tread, its only a matter of time before this would happen. I noticed as the wear increased on the tire, so did the gaps between the tread. Managed to find a used AT tire at the tire shop in town and $25 later, I was on my way. I thought my REVO's were tougher than this... You can see how my alignment/camber was off after getting it aligned initially after the lift. The tread wear on the inside edge was very uneven. I had it realigned not even 2 weeks ago after getting my CV replaced. Bad angle but you can really see the bulging sidewall right in the middle of the pic and the whole sidewall is toast.
  6. Yeah I've hit about 40k on my Revo's and the tread is still holding up. I am pretty sure that I will buy another set since this winter will probably be their last one, but I've got the Geolanders right at the top of my list too from all the good things I've heard over the years.
  7. I love the AC lift. Except that I just had to replace passenger cv today cause boot was torn, and new brake pads. The OME lift is definitely a step up from stock and definitely a nice setup but for the $$$ don't you want a car that actually looks lifted?
  8. Wow that is a great deal! Boy I wish I could take part in this!
  9. Bummer! I was looking forward to some sort of dip. Gas prices have not moved from $2.99 out here for at least a month!
  10. IIRC he paid close to 3x that for his pair in Australia.
  11. I know exactly what you're saying man...I tried looking a few years back and did not find any luck. The pic you are showing, the headlights look just like ours. I think some of it has to do with the fact that the ones in that picture are brand spankin new and you are comparing it to yours which probably are dirty like the rest of us. The 99-04 headlights are not the same shape as the 96-99's. Dean has some nice HID's which I recall ending up costing him quite a pretty penny and good luck on finding a pair. But they look sick. Here are a couple of them.
  12. But your stock wheels were 16's weren't they? When I swapped in my brembo drilled rotors a few years back, I didn't run into any issues since I stayed with 15's. Edit: on a side note, I recall reading that drilled rotors are not supposed to be turned...can someone verify this?
  13. Yeah I didn't realize how close you were either after I looked up where Parker was. Damn you're in a sweet spot with all of that so close around. I noted where I'm at on the map. I spend most of my weekends in Gardiner and in the Park since the in-laws work for NPS.
  14. Yeah thats awesome! I fly fish the Yellowstone River about 3x-4x a week. The Salmonfly hatch earlier this month was incredible! Did you manage to catch any of that?
  15. Hey just saw this post. I'm over in Montana only 30 minutes north of the North entrance of Yellowstone Park. If you decide to go check out Yellowstone, you should let me know as we can do a meet in the park or something like that and drive the "loop." You really ought to check out the Park since you're out here!
  16. Only pics I have of her bone stock. Only one I could find POST lift. But I have plenty of pics of the journey in between.
  17. You didn't tell me it was your B-day. I just talked to you like 2 days ago! Well hope you had a great one man!
  18. Pshhh! Yeah i knew about that too...Damn you for finding it out! j/k Yeah that would be nice...
  19. I believe thats for the 99.5+ models that you can turn on the horn on and off. Mine's always just been the flashers. I know myself along with some 96-99 owners have tried this before in the past with out any luck.
  20. What kind of roof rack do you have? Unless its the newer style SE rack with the airdam, I can't imagine getting any mileage improvement from removing the crossbars. I get about 16-17 on the freeway usually loaded up. Thats with lift and bigger tires.
  21. That is pretty cool! I just hit 108k miles too...
  22. LOL, too bad the season is over. If it wasn't, I'd think twice. :tonguefinger:
  23. All the stuff you've mentioned seem cosmetic and superficial aside from the alarm. I imagine that can be annoying. You didn't mention anything bad mechanically about the car. For what its worth, seems like you have a mechanically sound car with no problems. That to me would be worth keeping and fixing the minor nuances.
