well you might want to disconnect the tranny, unless you plan on taking it all out at once. one more thing about he heater core. I have seen a plethera of people screw up there heater core on high milage vehicles when removing the hoses, cause the get rough with them. The connections are brazed and if you get too rough with them, you can crack them, then the inside passengers side floor gets wet and the cab smells like antifreeze

Mr. pickles, Your right about the every other year thing. I recently went through a recheck with my Expedition when it wouldnt pass emisions. They will recheck for free 1 time then it costs money again. i wonder if i should just put it together as i think it might pass, then if it doesn't go the long way, it wouldn't cost me but another 15 bucks for each check after the first free be. My pathy does not burn oil, and runs excelent for the milage it has. The last time i had it checked, i was WELL below the legal limit.

I do agree with the statement of a higher idle. HOWEVER, i remember the last time i got my pathy emissions tested it almost didn't pass because my idle was at like 810. The guy made a comment about it and told me bla bla bla bla bla about the idle. They even put a tac on the hood to check it. (washington state pierce county). it turned out ok, cause at that time.. several years ago.. and 225k on the motor.. she passed with flying colors. and i'm horibble about maintanance.

Hell, for those people who live in areas where the roads are salted, or get severe weather, all models have this problem. I personally don't have this problem but i know lots of people have had the same problem are we in agreement with this

Ya, i think thats the way i'm pointed. I only have 3" between my upper links and the body,so i can't get a muffler in there, and yes it gets better as it goes back but then the springs are in the way. putting a muffler under the gas tank is out of the question. I want all the space i can get. If you guys didn't know, i am building this for EXTREME off road. to take to places like Moab, Tellico.. and litterally beat the @!*% out of it.

oh ya, its a BONE STOCK NISSAN VG30. wouldn't have it any other way... BTW.. i changed the plugs for the first time in 11 years last weekend. Got rid of all the old gas, put new gas in the tank....new battery....crrrraaaaank,,,, craaaannk.. started in less than 5 seconds.. after sitting unstarted for 2.5 years. NOW THATS A NISSAN!

Ok, well my first is a laugh. my name is 87pathy and my avatar is a 2 door... so i certainly hope i'm driving a 87 2 door... i thougt about going to an H pipe as noted by l&p performance in there SCV G30I. The mounting problems are such.... when i get back past the CAT, my upper control arm links are at the top of the frame and even with the body lift, i just don't have space for the muffler. I would crush it with any articulation. so i have that problem on either side of the vehicle. Washington, pierce county 25 years on emisions....suck ass. does anybody here think i could pass emisions with no muffler or using a cherry bomb or class pack.. only saying this cause they are much smaller than the stock pathy muffler wich is.. too big.. Idea number 1..... jerry rig total exaust to pass emisions then take it home and put in straight pipes. (have to do this on a yearly basis) idea number 2..... pay someboy out the ass to write it off and don't have to pay emisions, just the robber who is doing the paper work... idea number 3.. paysomebody out the ass to do a custom exahust job.. what do you guys think?

I would wait a few before i kicked over the engine. This will help if you are hydrolocked. Give a few minutes to help drain the oil out before you bend a rod!

Ok, well some of you might know i'm almost done with a 2.5 year build. I have come to a predicament. Becasue of my height, and custom rear suspension, i am having a hard time getting my Cat and my muffler to fit in the aloted space. If i could do away with the mufler all togeter, this would solve my problems. BUT, i live in washington where i must have emisions done to get it registered. Anybody know what minimums i could get buy with and still pass emisions here in the evergreen state? I'm running a straight pipe at the moment and love the throttle responce but that is not going to get me registered. ideas?

In the event of a Flop or a rollover.. Hunker down towards the middle of the vehicle. This is the instructions i have always given and always heard.

backed up to a ledge i had been doing all day. stepped on the brakes, nothing. Baried the blade.... to late.... out the door i went and let it go on its own. That was bout 13 years ago..

My first GUESS, would be O2 sensor. its one of the few items that will cause it to run differently at different temperatures. That and the MAFS

i rolled a cat skider 518 3 times once it was cool

No, they are not the same. Think of MSD as the wannabe baby brother of jacobs. MSD is pretty good but nothing like jacobs
-
Without peding money, you could pull your caliper off, and check the diameter of the piston. If they are ANY difference in the diameter you get an increased area and therefore more "pinch" on the rotor. Even if they are different brand, as long as they the EXACT same diameter i don't see it causing a problem. Is a simple matter of pressure VS area.

Everybody knows that the 2 doors are the best.. (waiting for reporcusions of my statement)

i'd say worn bushings.
-
the tbi was only done for a couple of years, i think it stopped in 89 or 90 then they went to EFI. Thats the difference between a VTG30I and a VG30E
-
i'd say its probably easier. Since the 3.3L engine is the same block and its been done from teh factory. setting up a carb or TBI on top of a super charger takes up alot of space and the EFI engins have the throttle body on the side not up on top.
-
You can get different setups, some that increase milage, some that give more power, some that do both. To my knowledge they don't bother any other electronics. Everybody i know that has put a jacobs ignition in there rig absolutely loves it
-
If the vehicle is carburated then you would see a dramatic change in fuel consumpsion adding a turbo or a supercharger, with a fuel injected vehicle you wouldn't see much change unless you change your injectors and/or reprogram the computer. You can get a trememdous power increase by changing to a jacobs ignition.

Did Calmini say it was going to be a leaf sprung suspension? Just asking cause the pic they show is of a D21. i thought i saw one on coils before but maybe i was wrong.
-
I agree that its most likely a waste of money. but you can get more power without more fuel. turbo chargers, super chargers, better ignition systems, better flowing exaust etc, its not MORE fuel, its better fuel USAGE that gets more power. Now i am not saying that you don't get more power from more fuel. Just that its not the only way.

Really? what did i mension thats not involved in an SAS? if they are using leaf springs then i would be wrong but using coil springs, you will need nearly, if not everything i mensioned. If I was going to sell a SAS kit for a pathfiner, it would cost 6-700 bucks without the axle. Tack on another 400 1600 bucks for that and its about right. Problem is, there is only a couple axles that you could use on a pathfinder.. I have done a solid axle swap on a pathfinder and alot of custom suspension work. Anyway.. just trying to help the community stay informed

wow,,, how mis informed you are. ok, dom tubing.. 1.5" 1/4" wall = approx 8.75 per foot, gonna need about 14 feet. Ball joints.. approx 30 dollars each! that is for a mid grade, not cheap not expensive.. oh did i mension you will need 8? and they dont come with jam nuts.. thats another 2 bucks a piece. oh weldable inserts for your dom tube.. 8-10 bucks a piece.. again 8 of them. one more thing,,, got a welder, a lathe? oh crap.. back to springs.. about 150 bucks.. .. did you buy that steel yet? square tubing, and plate to fabricate your custom frame mounts? damn shocks too! 35-50 bucks each. and last but not least.. with a live axle in the front, you will have to have some custom exhaust work done. not to mension a new drive line.. and then there is the factor that you may have to build a custom cross member for the tranny, depending on how much lift you want. its not so cheap. take it from me.. i know how much a SAS costs on a pathfinder, using coil springs.
