    Steering Disc

This is called a Rag joint. extreme off roaders, generally replace these with a solid joint, typically a small ujoint. This actually connects the two parts of the steering shaft, in order to help reduce front end vibrations to be transmitted to the driver. Aslo, to allow a flex point in the shaft cheaply These do fail, hosever its extremly rare. It should only be 2 bolts to change it,if you have it why not?
  2. OK, i've about had enough of listening to these gear oil debates. Gl 4,5,6 etc is such a loose spec. It does not matter, as long as its compatible with soft metals. I could run Mobile gear 630 (which is ISO 220 Sae 90)in my transmission wich is GL 6 and it would work fine (a little thick) But its compatible with soft metals. However, If i was to use shell Omala 220 HD (whic is the same visosity index and is also GL 6) I would have major problems because of the Sulfer phosfurous additives. GL designation is buch of BS and must be interpreted very loosly. I run Castrol Hypoid 75-90 in my tranny and t-case and have no issues, been running it for a long time and its GL 5. However, i do know that its compatible with soft metals. If you are really worried, call Shell, call mobile or any other oil distributor and ask them what oil they have with a GL 4 rating that is soft metal compatible. just my 2 cents
  3. www.mcmaster.com you can find anything there
  4. 17 bucks at autozone. just changed mine last week. took all of 3 hours
  5. eh.. i found a picture of my pathy on a web site in CHILE
  6. your all wrong Its a metric equivalent of a machine bolt. its not a grade 5 though, not as good. a metric 8.8 is equivalent to our grade 5. grade 10.9 metric is the equivalent of our grade 8. cheers
  7. i vote bent housing or bad bearing

    3.0 heads

There is no tolerance. its an interferance engine! this was stated at least twice just in different terms

    3.0 heads

There is no clearance between exhaust or intake valves. Don't ask me how i know.. trust me. broken timing belt = 3 bent exhaust and 3 bent intake at least on mine it did
  11. Well personally i would never buy coopers. ran them, had them, and every day a flat

    engine power

since you just did a body lift, did you pull any vacuum lines off by accident?
  13. Good explanation. But just to add, It works on a basic cam theory and just has to ramp the other way. If they do not lock at all in reverse, then somebody put them to gether wrong The suck gutter monkey's! 100 bucks new life time warrenty manual hubs, problems solved.
  14. sounds to me that you may have leakage.. as in power leakage to ground. Generally DC power circuits do funny stuff with bad grounds. Some times it works, some times it doesn't Just something else to check
  15. Come up to BC, i live in puyallup and travel to my house in BC and it takes 3.5 hours. There are alot of places to go. as long as you had 1 locker you could go most places in a pathy. (just not the one that ate my axle!)
  16. MR. JIM? I've been a member for a couple years and i havn't heard from him in almost as long. where have you been?
  17. Thanks Red, I get home about every other weekend if things go right. we'll have to get out and go wheeling this summer. I'll be in BC till september as long as i don't quit before then.
  18. Hey fellas, I've been stuck away up in Vancouver BC for some time.. not too much time for anything. But i have been wheeling up here a few times. Lots of sick trails. so the pathy is back in the shop for some more upgrades. The list consists of. Yukon axles and super joints for the front D44. (2 busted short side shafts.. and i'm sick of it) AC 3.7:1 T-case gears. Calmini SYE True HI 9. - full spooled high pinion ford 9" to go in the existing housing New rear drive shaft ( my old one was beat to Snit). so hows everybody.. hey Mike (aka mr pickle) read what you said about my truck in truck of the year. Thanks for the props and that was funny, watching that jeep trying to get over the rock pile with 2 spoters and getting stuck. Then i just drove over the top of all of it!!!!
  19. I stand corrected. I'd still go with the xterra
  20. Ok, i'm gonna throw a wrench in all of this. WD21 VS R50 is the debate. Why not go with a WD22? They have more power than the WD21, are newer therefore more reliable, have better aftermarket than both WD21 and R50. They just renamed the "real pathfinder" xterra (wd22) more power, crawler gears, factory lockers, good ride, good safety rating This is what i'd personnally
  21. mine has them but i've never had an issue
  22. I'd say 88 was on the right track.. However I have the perfrect pathy. The ony thing i'd like to do to mine to pic up some power is transplant a new 4.0L V6 from a new frontier! and a set of 4.1 transfer case gears...
  23. Mr. P. if and when you solve this problem, let me know. my reverse lights have never worked since i bought it. i have gone through all the same BS you did but still no lights. Keep us posted
