Since my dads surgery he hasn't be able to do much so I took his truck into the shop for a timing belt change. The harmonic balancer was seized so I couldn't do the job and broke an easy out in one of the 2 little bolt holes. Anyways they changed the crankshaft seal, cam seals, water pump, timing belt, drive belts, and whatever else. They told me when I picked it up that the cats are clogged. I can also hear a minor exhaust leak now :disapprove: (weird) I also had them put a new balancer on (I supplied it) I drove it home and it drives fine (it seems) with a bit of a stumble at the beginning. There is a noise now coming from the engine bay, kinda a whirring noise. It didn't do that before. Also the CEL is on (evap code) but it was blinking when I was driving home. Knowing from our Isuzu that it meant misfire, I checked all the plug wire connections, but I haven't gotten it to do it again. Should I take it back? I want to drive it to an npora members place to check the timing, but the sticker apparently expired sept 3rd. I really hope they didn't fark this truck up. Cost 630 dollars to have it all fixed.

Maybe someone messed with it at the starter. Or maybe when you removed the starter a wire got snagged or something?

Try being completely stopped before changing gears.

The ones that I got from nige (1995) look like they mount up on the body mount bolts. So those are for a 96-99

It should unless someone mess with the torsion bars on your truck. The reason I would replace both is more that both are tight so you don't have a difference in handling on one side.

It won't be that much louder though if you do a lot of highway you might find it annoying.

Beware that many junkyard ones will most likely be worn down in the middle just like yours was. There is a post in the new people section that describes what happens.

You need to remove the hub and snap ring, and push the cv out to make room. That is what I had to do.

Nope, they took it apart, and said there was nothing wrong with it. They filled it with fluid and it has been good ever since. But the point is, they did open up the trans. Maybe take it to Northend Nissan where morpheus is?

My father has a 2000 pathfinder as well with a standard tranny. He has 240,000kms on it and it's the original clutch and trans. When we first got it almost 5 years ago it used to grind going into 4th. Brought it to the dealer and they tore the whole tranny apart to inspect, free of charge. I would insist they inspect the trans rather than just replace.

Depends on the tire/vehicle for me. On the pathy I will be going black side out because I got used tires and the person had whites in and they're all nasty from the dirty winter.

Check / do these things. Air filter Plugs, wires, cap and rotor o2 sensor MAF sensor (clean it) Oil change Tire pressure Adjust Driving habits Should help.

There should be a bolt on the side that is really long, that is the adjusting bolt. It was easier for me to go in through the fender well with the tire turned. Used a long extension too.

Well if your truck was flooding out, it probably burnt all that fuel at some point. Could the sensor just be fouled?

Yeah my dad's friend and colleague at work is a hydraulics engineer and he said they dropped the ball in the early 2000's. He said the fram tough guard is the only decent one they sell.
