Nissan Pathfinder $1.85 million lawsuit verdict will stand
MikeV replied to Pezzy's topic in General Forums
The issue up here is how do you wash your truck when it is 10 below? More of an issue is getting in after it freezes. (I used a torpedo heater and a tarp to get in after she froze... running) Salt water is only about 3.5% salt, salt slush is much more salt than anything else, and it isn't quite a liquid so it doesn't just drip out until spring. But the first pathy frame was 1/2 full of sand/rocks and neat colored layers of sediment that had "petrified" into rock/slate/sandstone & took a screwdriver to loosen it up. -
attn 90-95 WD21 users: what kind of gas do you use?
MikeV replied to ajspath's topic in 90-95 WD21 Pathfinders
trucks are happy with 87, I just add sea-foam a couple times a year to keep her clean. -
Buy a new one (under $100) most auto parts stores have them on hand (I about died when they I went to O'reilly and they pulled it out from the back/ I thought I was going to have to order one here in Jeep Country)
-
I did mine when I did the lift/steering, PB Blaster then MAPP then PB again when it is hot. they came off like I buttered them and were thinner than a pencil under the bushings. welded bearing races also. Crazy how they looked new but under the bushing it was eaten away.
-
my 33x12.5's run fine pushed with the lil 3.0 and a slushbox (auto) You should have zero issues running 32's.

Sorry to here about the loss and hope to see pics of a new Pathy. Glad to see you were wearing seat belts (no imprints in your windshield!-) Hope you guys heal up quick. Funny; was that goat painted in Viking Colors with a shaved #4 in it's coat duct taped in a trunk?

Nissan Pathfinder $1.85 million lawsuit verdict will stand

If you lived in the midwest you would understand why I have owned 3 95 pathfinders (Rust sucks) Being in the backwoods they don't salt; but when you go to the "Big City" where 500,000 people are driving like they never have seen snow or ice; Salt actually saves lives and destroys truck frames. washing your truck every night when you get home is insane. ((Someone needs to retest for their G.E.D.) or get a larger "helmet" as yours is way 2 tight!-) And if you ever really looked into the frame it isn't possible to get all the "crap" out. (after chopping 3 pathy frames open I can vouch that the setup will not allow all the crap to come out; for instance the rear frame where the bumper and hitch connect has a middle piece to beef up the tow portion of the frame; holds ALOT of crap! I use water then air to clean my frame (I have a 6' brass tube i jam into the frame to get the "cement" out at 140psi. Be glad you guys aren't in the rust belt for that reason alone; salt sucks, love winter. But it isn't just a Nissan issue; and I would much rather weld my frame together than constantly wrench on a Jeep. Besides alternators (sand eats 'em and upgrades I never have to work on my Pathy) And if it seems like I was being a Jag, nope, just coverin' my midwest rust belt familia & 'splainin' to the lumberjacks that there is another world outside of the woods with people that have never seen real forests or even roads without street lights! scary but true... -
Nice setup adding it to the to do list...

Thanks SteeevO

Isn't the trailmaster the lift that the torsion bars crossmember is "dragging on the ground" Not bashing it as I never used one or touched one (and slick might break my legs since I think she has 1)
-
Only issues I have had were torn half shaft boots; and that seems to be from "sticks" and crap piercing them, I would have skipped the rear sway bar quick-disconnects and just recycled my rear sway bar. other than that (and midwest rust) 33" 3SL+3BL works for me. (adjustable shocks replace the sway bar pretty well to stop swaying at turns)
-
Timing belt/water pump is due also; that would be a party spoiler if it goes (I need to do it myself also;-)

Lowers are the devil

My first 95 was a 5 speed, my current is a slushbox (auto) and I prefer the auto. easier to 1 finger salute when passing gear kicks in and I never need to shift in the mud. Not a big difference in MPG either. Wrong vehicle to worry about MPG's anyhow!-) Just fix the leaky seal and put some good tranny fluid in there, (Lucas, Amsoil or Purple...)
-
Mine is the same (odometer reads double that) my temp is there unless towing toys then it is a bit over half way. In winter I need to add a cover or she would never heat up (below zero) Never have to worry about overheating!-)

Rust worth repairing? & Death Wobble question
MikeV replied to ChaosSaint's topic in 90-95 WD21 Pathfinders
Yep, I feel your pain, I cleaned mine out and boxed the frame with 3/16th. Welding rust is an art!-) (I used a grinder, Marine Clean, Metal Ready, then POR-15) POR-15 works well IF you prepare the surface, if not it peels of in a year. Metal Ready helped maintain my arc on rusty/porous metal instead of the constant sparkler effect -
I run 33's with a 3"BL and 3"SL and no rear sway bar never tip, 3 wheels once or twice but that just shakes off the mud/sand and rust when the wheel comes back down (no more hairpin turn on-ramps at 75 and all 4 wheels stay on the ground) 3+3 werks fer me!-) (I switch to my 31's on stock rims if there are alot of rocks as the 10.5 vs. 12.5 width makes a huge difference also 12.5's slip a bit more on muddy rocks (ask my rockers;-)

Looking for the best lift kit, any recomendations?
MikeV replied to Astroc2002's topic in 90-95 WD21 Pathfinders
Happy with my Calmini setup, and cut the UCA's to fit rancho 9000's. TM has that torsion bar drop which looks like a mudplow... Not hating; it just seems more for the mall:-) -
One of the Ronin guys cut out the rockers and replaced with sliders I believe (theking) on ronin but don't remember as I have been out a while.
-
I cut mine off, air grinder with cutting disc and it just fell off (I tried cooking, hammering, heat vision, F-bomb) finally just 30 seconds of zzzzing and done. carefully of course
-
Por15 rocks if you prepare the metal right Marine clean and Metal Ready should be purchased at same time. a few hours after por15 is used it is ready for bedliner, don't wait a day or 3 as it will not stick very well to por15 once it fully cures. Worth every penny!
-
Love my Calmini lift, I didn't index the torsion bars right the first time (off by an inch)
-
peanut butter, or peanut oil Bears will love it also
-
yep, tranny coola and you'll be happy till ya hate it in 20 more years....

If your close to WI I have one in my spare 95 (new main bearings, clutch, and pressure plate) (frame broke from rust after having the 5sp rebuilt and I bought a 95 auto)
