  1. Again get the GL4 from Amsoil or Redline, do not use the GL5. Zack
  2. JY TRans? What is that? Thanks, Zack
  3. Well I drove it about 10,000 miles with the GL5 in it and underfilled. I have since put the GL4 Amsoil in as well as overfilled it. So I guess the damage is not getting worse, but the noise is still there. Zack
  4. Well A few things to remember. First of all YOU MUST USE A GL4 gear oil. GL4 is hard to find, as most places only sell GL5. GL5 will damage the trans. To my knowledge Amsoil and Redline make a GL4 spec oil. Also as mentioned before, you must "overfill" the trans! I know the above because my 1995 SE-V6 5spd with 171,000 miles is now damaged, as a result of not following the above advice. When my clutch was changed at 150,000 miles the shop I guess put in GL5, as well as underfilled it. Now I have the "noise" in all gears except 4th as defined in the TSB. Now I am at a crossroads with my truck do I replace the trans or sell it? Zack
  5. I used Amsoil gear oil. They claim that you don't have to use the additive, but Amsoil has an LSD add that I also put in and my rear diff is perfect ! Zack
  6. It is amazing that the locksmith key didn't work. They are by far the best place to get a key made. Keys are just a side job for the dealer. Zack
  7. One thing that I noticed in the 12 years that I have owned my 1995 Pathfinder is that they run cool, at least that's what the temp gauge always said. One time a few years ago, I was having the coolant flushed, so I had the shop throw in a new Thermostat. I always go with OEM Nissan parts, but that day the dealer was out of stock on the thermostat, so I got one from NAPA. With the aftermarket thermostat in place the temp was higher, who knows why, but I went back to an OEM Nissan part and all was fine again. Zack
  8. What I have noticed with my 1995 Path (171,000 miles) is that when it is not driven for long periods of time (2 months or so) the first time or two out it was sporadically run like crap, lose power, and the CEL will light. Then the light will shut off and all will be fine. I have no clue what to atribute this too, but my Path is fine and has been for a while. Zack
  9. Excuse me, it was not a "fly-by-night" shop! I gave the part to the shop, and they swapped it out for me. The shop that I use does high quality work at all times, and I am a regular cust, is there something "fly-by-night" in treating customers right? Zack
  10. I paid $20.00 to have mine put in. Zack
  11. I guess that was my point, that YES it does have flaws as any car/truck would have. But the frame is a VERY important part, so therefore that is a MAJOR flaw! Zack
  12. Yes, but even in an area that salt is used the frames still should not rot the way they are. Zack
  13. I paid $900.00 to have both sides done. I think the quality is great, and this is a safety item. THere is no way that I would mess with this. Zack
  14. Ah for me it was well worth the $700.00 at the dealer. Zack
  15. Sorry but Fawk you! I am the original owner of my 1995 SE-V6. I know how the frame was treated from day one of ownership. I can recall many a day when I feared that I had frost bite on my fingers because I was cleaning my Path in the winter. And YES of course I cleaned the frame as best as possible inside! Many friends consider me "car crazy" due to the constant care that I give my Path! If the body is an example it still shines like new. But I was always dilligent with the frame and undercarriage. And YES there are TONS of 13yr old cars/trucks that have had no care whatsoever and they are not rotted any where near what many Path's are! You are correct that there would most likely be little luck in a law suit against Nissan, but the frames are total garbage. If you think that it is juat lack of owner care, then your head is buried deep in the sand! How could anyone in the right mind say that the quality is good? My 2 cents! Zack
  16. My 2cents is just do the damm belt, you don't know the history! When you do it, do the water pump, thermostat, cam seals, belt tensioner, and the drive belts. I had the dealer do mine about 4 yrs ago, and I paid $700.00. Zack
  17. I have said this MANY times, and no one seems to agree with me. I feel that Nissan should be sued in a class action suit. I don't care how many of you say that it is because you don't clean the frame, that's BS! Cleaning the frame is important but no way in hell should a frame fall apart on so many Pathfinders as they have. They are VERY LOW QUALITY frames, I guess bad metal! I say $#&% Nissan! Zack
  18. Hi everyone, When I had my 1995 SE-V6 at the 4wd shop for the frame repair, I asked him to do a wheel alignment. He told me that he could not do it because the bearings are "loose". He told me that they need to be repacked and checked, to the tune of about $300.00. What does the shop mean? My truck has 170,000 miles on it, and the bearings have never been touched. Any ideas as to what direction that I should go? Thanks, Zack
  19. Hey everyone, Attached are some picures of the HORRIBLE frame rust on my 1995 SE-V6, and the plates that went over the rust. I still can't believe how bad Nissan built these trucks. Zack
