  1. Yup the last shop that had the truck did swap in a new ECU. My truck is a 5spd. The dealer thinks that there "might" be a bad ground somewhere? Zack
  2. Well the dealer has no clue except to say that they believe that it is in the wire harness (electric issue), and they no idea how to fix the truck. They only option they gave me was to have them start opening up the various wire harnesses to attaempt to find a needle in a hay stack......They don't feel it is worth it. It is still showing them the two codes, and they checked both the O2 sensor and the knock sensor and they check out fine. This issue is making me nuts! Zack
  3. Well the only two codes that it was throwing were 33 and 34, the O2 sensor and a knock sensor? It is at the dealer as I type this, so we will see what they find...................... Zack
  4. Not that I know of? The cat is original. How would or could the cat effect this situtaion? Thanks, Zack
  5. Well the shop gave up, and threw in the towel. They checked everything they could possibly think of, including the temp sensors, and everything checks out perfectly. The computer is still giving an O2 sensor code.....The truck still has all of the originally noted issues. At this point I am going to drop it off at the Nissan dealer. They are going to charge 1 hour of labor ($100.00) to determine the issue, then I may or may not have them fix the truck, depending on the price. This is so annoying. Zack
  6. Well the light only came on after the attempted Check engine light fixes. I am not ruling out that an ABS part that could be broken, it is just strange that the light is now on. When they attempted to fix the CEL, they even tried a new computer, and that did not help, so that is what made me think of resetting the system in some way? If I pulled the battery cable for a moment, would that reset the system? Thanks, Zack
  7. HI everyone, After the long saga of attempting to figure out the check engine light issues, now the ABS light is on. At this point two seperate shops have given up on attempting to fix my truck (the code comes up as an O2 sensor, and it has a new one, and they have even tried other new ones.) But that aside, now the ABS brake light is lit. Any ideas for causes for an ABS light? Are there sensors to the ABS system? IS there a reset procedure for the ABS light? When you first start the truck, the light is off, then it comes on after about 5 seconds or so. Any ideas? Thanks, Zack
  8. Do you mean "EGR TEMP SENSOR"? That is the only part that I can find on www.rockauto.com You are not speaking about the coolant temp sensor right?
  9. UPDATE: Well the Path is still broken after $260.00 at the shop. When they checked the codes they came up with the O2 sensor code, so they replaced the O2 sensor. Well ten minutes after picking up the truck, the CEL was flashing again. Back to the shop it went. They pulled the code, and again it came up as an O2 sensor. At that point a vac hose also was off, so they cleared the code and fixed the hose and away I went. Well the light flased on again. I had to use the Path to tow my sleds, so I have not taken it back yet. But on the 6 hour road trip the light came on again, and it was bucking as usual when the light was on. Now the light has been on for over 400 miles, and the truck seems to be running ok, however the MPG's still suck. I think I am only getting about 10MPG (the odo is busted so I don't know for sure). I will mention the coolant temp sensor to them, or perhaps not? Should I let them figure it out, so that I don't get stuck with them replacing parts that are not bad? Zack
  10. I gave up......I dropped it at the shop today they will check it on Monday. I am sure they will charge me a huge bill, but I don't have the time and energy to deal with this. I will let everyone know what they come up with. Zack
  11. Hi everyone, I am the original owner of my 1995 Pathfinder 5spd. The truck has about 190,000 on the odo (the odo stopped working at 182,000). I have two issues with the truck, and I assume that they are related. First, when you drive the truck for long distances over an hour or so, at random times the "cel" will light up, when it does light up the truck will buck and stumble. However it never lasts for more than a few minutes at a time, when the light is off it runs fine. It will ususally cycle on and off at random times. There aeems to be no codes stored, and a shop has attempted to fix this twice to no avail. The other issue is that currently the truck gets HORRIBLE mpg's! I don't know the exact mpg's because the odo is broken, but I can tell you that it is bad. A ride of about 30 miles or so drops a full tank to 3/4 of a tank. The exhaust does not smell bad, and it does not burn a drop of oil. I also just did a full tune up, with all OEM Nissan parts (cap, rotor, plugs, pcv, air filter, gas filter, oil and filer (Mobil 1 5w30 since new). I don't drive the Path much, but now it is snowmobile season, so she will be doing towing duties, and I can't afford to drive it six + hours the way it is. Any ideas? One year ago it did pass inspection without any problems. The truck is totally original. Thanks, Zack
  12. The info tab is not correct. I do have a 1995 5spd Pathfinder, not a 96. I guess the bottom line is I wonder if there is truly a difference between a 2wd and a 4wd trans, because the TSB does not mention 2wd vs 4wd? Zack
  13. Well that's the thing, the TSB says 5.1, but when you go on the Amsoil site (the link is in the op) they say 5.1 for a 2wd and 7.7 for a 4wd, however the TSB does not show a difference between 2wd and 4wd. Zack
  14. I did look there, of course that is where I found the TSB. But that does not answer the question of exactly how much oil. Zack
  15. Hi everyone, I want to change the oil in the 5spd trans in my 1995 Pathfinder, and I want the correct amount of oil in it. I already lost one trans because the oil was too low. The problem is that I am finding conflicting oil amounts... On the TSB the "new" oil level shows to be 5.1 pints however when I use the Amsoil vehicle chart it shows the correct level for a 4wd Pathfinder to be 7.7 pints? http://www.amsoil.com/mygarage/vehiclelookup.aspx?url2=1995+NISSAN/DATSUN+PATHFINDER+G Any idea how much oil should be in my trans? And is the best way to get the extra oil in from the shifter? Thanks, Zack
  16. Is there a fix for this other than getting a new cluster? How would one go about fixing the geras? Thanks, Zack
  17. The weired thing is that the exact same thing happened to my 96 Maxima, in the exact same fashion. On the Maxima the odo is mechanical not electric, I am assuming the Path is the same way? On the Max it was dead for about two weeks then it just started working again. On the Max it works until the trip odo gets to about 700 miles, then it stops again. Now in order to get it working again, all you need to do is reset the trip odo. Zack
  18. Hi everyone, My 1995 SE-V6 has 182,500 miles on, and the odometer just stopped working last night. I filled up the gas tank, and I reset the trip odometer as I usually do, and I drove off. The trip odometer worked for 1.9 miles and then stopped working. When the trip odometer stopped working, so did the regular odometer. I attempted to reset the trip odometer, and it did go back to zero, however neither odometer works now. Any ideas on a fix? Is this a common issue with the Pathfinders? I would rather not swap out an odometer from another truck. Thanks, Zack
  19. Uh stick or not the transfer case gets ATF fluid!! Zack
  20. I agree with everyone else above, sounds like the fan clutch is bad. The fan clutch went bad in my 95 last year after almost 180,000 miles. When you are on the gas, does the engine sound different, like it is sucking in large amounts of air? You can tell very simply if the fan clutch is stuck based upon the sound that the engine makes. Zack
  21. The tach on my 95 has been bad for at least 6 or 7 years, it is not a big deal at all. However I might look for a used part. Zack
  22. Hi everyone, The mechanic just called about my 95 SE-V6 and informed me that the pass side exhaust manifold is cracked, it is not just the studs. Where is the best place to source a quality replacement manifold? Napa hjas the manifold for $114.00, is that a good price? Is their quality good? Any other ideas as to where to get the manifold? What is the dealer charging? I don't want headers, I just want a quality replacement. Thanks, Zack
  23. Hi everyone, I checked in the "garage" how to section, and the timing belt replacenment is not for the WD21 Path's. Is there a specific "how to" for up t0 1995 Pathfinders? If none exists, how much different is the job on the newer vs older Path? Thanks, Zack
  24. Based upon the issues that I described above, does it sound as if my O2 sensor is dead? Thanks, Zack
  25. Ok well I called a few shops, and the price range is great. The first shop found a used trans with 75,000 miles on it for $750, and his labor would be $400, the second shop has a used trans with 140,000 miles on it and his labor is a bit higher so his out the door cost would be $1400. The second shop also indicated that just because the bearings let go, does not mean that it took the remainder of the trans with it. He indicated that he would remove my trans and open it up to check it out, and if it was JUST the bearings, he would rebuild mine as opposed to the used trans. I have never used the first shop, but I have used the second shop, and they have been honest and good to deal with. Should I go with the cheaper option and have shop one put the 75,000 mile used trans in? Any ideas? Zack
