  1. Hi everyone, Based upon the tests that I have done counting the green and red lights under the pass seat, I think the O2 sensor is bad on my 1995 SE-V6. The strange thing is that the check engine light does not remain lit, and most of the time the truck runs fine. Usually the only way to trip the CEL is on a long highway trip. When the CEl does light up, the truck will run like crap and buck, when the light turns off it is fine again. There is no rhyme or reason as to when the light will go on or off. I am at my wits end with this issue, that I have been chasing for some time now. I had a shop even check the truck for this issue, and they changed the O2 sensor. But I must assume that it has gone bad again, and they ripped me off so I will never go back there. So what brand O2 sensor should I purchase? What should I expect to pay? If yuo go online, there seem to be three major brands, NGK/NTK, Bosch, and Walker. Who should I use? What is the OEM NIssan brand? Thanks, Zack
  2. I think the alternator is on it's way out on my 1995 SE-V6, but the strange thing is that it works when it wants to at this point. I did have the tell tale dash lights go on once or twice, but that is not a constant. The bigger issue is that the dash lights get brighter and dim at random times, is that indicitave of the alternator as well? Thanks, Zack
  3. HI everyone, Well the 5spd transmission in my 1995 SE-V6 4x4 died yesterday after 181,000 miles on it. I am the original owner, and I always drove it gently. I got 155,000 miles out of the original clutch, however when it was replaced I think the trans was run low on oil as a result of the NIssan trans case flaw (see the TSB). A few local trans shops say that 180,000 is a great life for the trans, is it? It had been making noise in all the gears except 4th, but the noise was not that bad. Well yesterday all hell broke loose, and now it is very loud and almost does not move in any gear. How bad is this trans to rebuild? Any ideas on sources for a good used trans? Are there JDM transmissions available? I was actually thinking of trading in the Path for a Titan, but now I have no choice except to fix it. Any ideas? Thanks, Zack
  4. When I had the drivers side done, I paid $250.00 at a local shop. Zack
  5. So how do I deal with the elec suspension? Do I just pull the plugs? Zack
  6. HI everyone, After 180,000 miles, I think the shocks on my 1995 SE-V6 Path have hit the end of the road. I have the adj/elec suspension, can I just unhook the wire on the OEM shock and install the new shock? Is there anything else that I need to disconnect? I was thinking about going with the Bilstein shocks, has anyone ever used them? If so how did you like them? Any other good brands that you like? Thanks, Zack
  7. I have never ever had any mechanical gripes about my Pathfinder! Simply put that part of the truck is 100% perfect! My only gripe is the frame rust. Go to www.carsurvey.org, and find the 1995 Pathfinder section, all rotted frames. Zack
  8. Very true, if you are happy with your rust buckets then so be it. I for one am not! Zack PS: The actual Pathfinder is great, except for the rust
  9. You are a riot! If you are happy with your repaired frame so be it! Again I am the original owner of my Pathfinder, and it is a great truck EXCEPT for the rust! As far as a Toyota v Nissan debate, sad to say Toyota wins! Don't get me wrong I am a strong NIssan fan as well, but............ At the moment I have three NIssans (1996 Maxima, 1995 Pathfinder, 1995 SE-V6 King Cab 4x4). and the rust monster is taking it's toll! And my frame is repaired as well, but that is not the point. IMHO they stole my money! Zack
  10. GREAT they have corrected it since! But what do I do with my rotted frame 95? I spent over $1,000 for the frame to be repaired! Zack
  11. What many of you don't seem to understand is that the major frame rust issue only seems to be related to the 1994's and 1995's. The older Path's such as your 92 seem to be ok when it comes to frame rust. In fact I looked at an 1988 Path yesterday that has spent its entire life in the salt of NJ, and not well washed, etc it has NO frame rust at all! They did something different with the 94's and 95's, and it is not good. I am dumbfounded that anyone who dropped almost $30,000 on the Pathfinder new should see this much rust! It is a major safety issue. Nissan is to blame, and they should pay up! Zack
  12. Not true, they are doing it on 95 and up Tacomas. And yes the hardbodies rust the exact same way. Zack
  13. Hey everyone, Some time ago I posted a thread about the lack of support from Nissan as related to the significant rust issues on the Pathfinders, esp the frame. Some people here felt I was correct while others said it was our faults for not washing out trucks in the winter. I beg to differ as I am the original of my 1995 SE and I always washed it! But the frame had to be basically rebuilt due to the horrible rusting.. Many people here said oh well it's an old truck, it should rust, I say BS! Well Toyota stepped up to the plate with the Tacoma! They will buy back ANY Tacoma with frame rust for the kbb value, in excellent condition (no matter the actual condition!). My local Toyota dealer has taken in 4 already. That is qualiy service IMHO! What Nissan did to us is steal our hard earned money, but will do nothing to fix the problem! I say class action law suit! Anyone want to join? Zack
  14. Have you done this job before? ANy idea as to what usually needs to be done? Zack
  15. Hi everyone, Well after 176,000 miles the 5spd trans in my 95 is starting to get loud in all gears except 4th. I assume that it was damaged back at 155,000 miles when the clutch was replaced and it was filled with fresh oil, however low on oil because of the trans case issue. The oil was filled to the proper height, but not before driving almost 10,000 miles! So now I guess I have to get the job done, but what will it cost? What is involved in the job? Any personal experience? Thanks, Zack
  16. Yes, that is what happend the last time the alt went out, now it's just one light. So I guess the belts then. It is my fault for letting the fan clutch go. I have the new fan clutch, but the shop is super busy. Zack
  17. So the general feeling is that the alt is ok? Thanks, Zack
  18. Yes, I am sure they are cheaper however I usually only use OEM parts. I have always had great luck with the Nissan belts (I think they are made by Bando). Zack
  19. Hmmm The fan clutch went bad and it sprayed the fan clutch oil on the engine. Iwonder if that fawked up the belts? I will go to the dealer on MOnday and buy new belts. Thanks, Zack
  20. Hey everyone, I think the alternator in my 1995 SE-V6 is on it's way out. The part has a lifetime warr on it, and it was replaced about two years ago. The reason that I say that it is dying is because the battery light on the dash has come on a few times the last few times that I drove it. The light only comes on for a second or two, and then shuts right off. It has never stayed on for longer than a few seconds. It does not do it often at all. The last time my alt went out, the lights were going dim on occassion, and more dash lights would come on. But now only the battery light? Any ideas? Thanks, Zack
  21. Ok well I looked close and there is a body seam just below the upper door hinge. Well the seam has some rust and it looks as if the seam sealer is starting to pull away. I guess that is the problem, however how do I get in there with the door and fender in the way? Must I remove the both the door and fender to do this job? Zack
  22. Hi everyone, I was just outside in my 1995 Pathfinder and I noticed that the plastic piece that is screwed to the footwell on the pass side is wet. It has been raining here all day long and the carpet is a bit wet as well. The water is comming in from somewhere on the side of the truck. The exact area that was wet was the actual light housing on the pass side for the floor, there were drips of water there. HAs this happened to anyone else here? The windshield has never been replaced, and the truck has never been in an accident. I am the orig owner and I have never ever had any water leaks in the Pathy! Please help. I hate dealing with water leaks! Zack
  23. My 1995 Path had a new short block put in by the dealer when it had 20,000 miles on it (my 1995 SE-V6 King Cab also got a new short block). It was NOT a recall, they only changed it if you complained about the tapping noise when it was first started when cold as I did. I guess they figured that if they didn't say much they would only have to deal with the people that opened their mouth. Zack
  24. Hey everyone, My other post is here about the ghost CEL, and I was in the garage section doing some CEL searching and I came up on this quote below: "My 95 started doing that the last time I was back east...I didn't get time to look into it but I assume its what 88 said full of carbon...and with my EGR function SES light it only comes on periodically but goes off a couple of mins later and will be off for a while and then come back on so I assume the valve is sticking b/c of buildup" That seems like what my truck is doing? CAn I clean my EGR? If so how? Thanks, Zack
