  1. my exhaust under $100 CAN. flowmaster 40 off ebay. BNIB. 4 f/t of strait 2.5" pipe. and the most expensive part was the tail pipe. $45 for mandrel bent 2.5". I just welded it up at home.
  2. do a 3.3 long. machine the crank. use your VG30I heads (slightly better cams then the E series) and keep it TBI. if you have the money, get cams. but I would first start looking into a SC kit. there was a company making one. but who knows what ever happened to that.
  3. 1) sticker on diff. LSD or LSD OIL ONLY 2) spin check. if both rear wheels spin the same way, LSD. if one spins opposite, open diff or worn out LSD the only oil to change that is a PITA is the trans. unless you have a drain plug. otherwise you have to undo the bolts holding the pan on.

    there was a company from austrailia IIRC that had a supercharger kit for the VG30E. I saw it about 1.5-2 years ago. just two pics of it. ill try and remember the name of the company.

  6. I just mounted my trany cooler between the rad and the E-fans. easy easy. not all A/T's have drain plugs. none of our paths had them (89, 94,95) but my 97 trans had one. unno
  7. I tried and tried to get the speedo outa my 97 trans, but no go. so I just simply unbolted the 12 or so bolts on the rear Tcase casing, and swap my 89 casing onto it. very quick and easy. also a good time to change the rear ouput seel on the case when you dont have that splined shaft running threw it. onbolt the 12 bolts, get a rubber malted and "tap" the case, side to side, up or down untill you can get a screwdriver into the seem. then pry a bit and get a prybar into it and it will pop right off. I WILL fell like thers somthing internaly holding it on, but I just pryed a bit harder and it poped right off.

  9. oh, so I was dinkin around with the old trans, slid the TC out for the 1000'th time, and the input shaft of the trans slide out with it. Im guessing that shouldnt happen, should it? if not, any clue on what went wrong?
  10. TC slid out a bit yesterday. thats why it wouldnt go on. MAKE sure that your TC is in the full 1". I slid the TC into the trans and everything went pretty smothly. BUT, the TC was too far back, so the bollts for fly-TC were to short. no worries, found 2 bolts just a hair longer and put them on eather side of the fly. that sucked the TC to the fly and the original bolt fit fine. PUT THE TC IN THE TRANS FIRST!!!!
  11. ya, got the TC on. then a though occured. the TC, its filled with ATF. does it get filled via the trans, or do I have to fill it? theres fluid in there, just not sure how much.
  12. manual says to mount the torque convertor to the oil pump then mount the trans to the motor. then bolt the torque convertor to the fly wheel. well, I did that. and have been fighting for hours with it. has anyone tried to mount the convertor to the fly, then slide the trans over the splines? help ASAP. thanks
  13. I too have removed both sways and have had no problems. I drive Hiway everyday aswell as alot of city too, and no wobbles or anythign unexpected.
  14. So, after 275 xxx km my idle arm is showing its age. theres much play in it and it spins freely. I gressed it up, but still nobetter. can you rebuild this things? is it just a bushing that is gone? if nto, how much for a new one?thanks.
  15. anyways to make the diff slid out of the housing easier? I have yet to try, but Ive heard that it can really be stuck in there. and how much weigh am I looking at? 75lbs? and, there was just a few months ago(if that) where a guy was "pulling into the garage" and he welded his LSD. where are the pics, or that thread. I swear search functions hate me. Thanks, Dallas
  16. havent seen one terreno that wasnt right hand. theres a guy around my town that has a deisel terreno, and its right hand.
  17. ya, there was nothing im my pan. got 97 trans here now. everything is the same. side by side, I put the 97 into 4hi, and spin the front output, the shaft to the motor turns. but so does my 89. so any possiblity my oil pump quit on my and thats why I have "no" gears on the 89? I am going to swap the 97 in, so I can get on the road quickly, then ill rebuild my trans as money allows.
  18. well got it out today. found a trans from a pathy that was just rebuilt for $500 with the tcase. only problem is that they know it came from a 2 door(VG30I motor still attached). but they dont know what year it was. so how do I tell if its a 3speed(87) or a 4 speed (O/D)? and, should you be able to change gears with your hand? like on the side of the trans theres the lever that the cable attaches to. one of the JY trans I was unable to change gears. on mine, it changes very easily.

  20. is a manual swap a complete bolt in? are teh ECU's different for manuals?
  21. yes, but on the Tcase of both, they both have the same thingy(sry, im tired) the 89 has a cable screwed in, and the 95 has a electroning thing screwed in. there must be a way to convert the electo to mech. isnt there?
  22. hey 88, did you have to pull your exhaust to get your trans out? how will I tell if it is the convertor? was told that it is probly my plant gears. anytruth?
  23. whats the difference between a 95 and an 89 auto trans? what would have to be done to get a 95 trans into my 89? as far as I know the mechnical side of things, everything is the same. but what about the elevtronic side? only thing I could see that would screw things up is the 95 has a switch for the O/D. my 89 didnt.
  24. copy/paste from the AC board. blew my trans that was giving me NO, absolutly no problems. sitting at the end of my street at a stop sign. I start to go. all goes well. trans trys to shift to second, bang then the tach redlines. got no gears. reverse lights come on. have park and neutral(and neutral in all gears) any clue what happened? school starts on wed. so help asap... and a trans from a 93 HB. what all is different? Thanks
