ohh yea i forgot to mention that if u check the oil and its milky then you've got a problem...be it head gasket or a cracked block/head most likely a head gasket
-
yea that ear on the block breaks off...i took a hammer and beat the cover back over the block and RTV'd it closed so no water or dirt got in there...that block has since gone to the scrap yard and i have a good 1
-
run a compression check...you could have a bad water pump i think esp if there isnt any water in the fuel and you dont see residue on the heads where the coolant would have leaked out...
-
its a PITA and yea its a couple to 300 or so $ and yes its a common problem with the v6's...I have had 2 pathy's that both had leaks on the pass side

from my experience...advance has crappy parts and the reason is their remanufactured parts (from a manager at an advance after I told him his alts sucked so bad after going thru 3 in less than a year) are actually all old parts (they send cores to like china and have the people test the different parts whats good gets cleaned and put in a box whats bad gets chunked...then they take from these boxes of good parts and make "good" parts I got to where I use NAPA only parts but some things I will get at advance if I have to I went through 4 sets of pads (the shims were glued on instead of rivets and kept on slipping out of the caliper and hitting my spindle hub at which i took the last set back in a box and got my refund... I then went through 3 alts in less than a year by various things going bad (wasn't running anything extra than stock besides an aftermarket stereo that was just 2 6x9's. They are good for getting parts when u are in a jam and need them right away...esp with their 24 hr stores...I just try to steer clear of the "advanced" brand stuff
-
i cant remember right off the top of my head but I pulled 1 out and took it with me to the store...and with my stand i think i got 120mm long bolts they may be like an m12 x 1.5 or m8 x 1.25 but i'm not really sure

I have been told with brake fluid that you can go up to dot 4 but once you do dont go back to dot 3...
-
yea what I did was pull the maxima engine apart (pulled off all the mtg hardware and all that crap then took 1 bracket off at a time and swapped it over to give it the pathy mounting...although some holes were not used b4 I had to spray them with PB and clean the threads B4 attaching the brackets... good luck shouldnt be too terrible

heres a 95 frame if that helps out...maybe some1 has pix of a 2 dr frame (possibly 88 from his strip job)
-
Changing the oil pan gasket is still a lot of work...and if its a manual i would recommend a clutch and all of that jazz at the same time if its anywhere near needing to be done...
-
doesn't the dipstick needs to be swapped as well and change location...form the pic it looks like its on the correct side but maybe up a port or something...I know on that maxima conversion I had to switch sides completly...

I have a set of mud rovers and I love them...mine are the 31 10.5 R15's...my neighbor thought they were junk (based upon the BFG M/Ts) then I took him out for a ride on pavement and offroad and his opinion changed and bought a set for his cherokee (i think he got 32's) but they are quiet on the highway for mud tires and the clear really well and the price is good i got mine for 555 with full replacement warranty and rotations and balancing for the life of the tire... The are a softer compound and grab great on pavement in all kinds of weather (havent tested out the snow yet tho) They dont really have that bad of a knobby start and stop, its there but its not as bad as i remember in some of my buddies trucks with coopers and BFG M/Ts

on my drive out here the wash's look like they could be fun places to go play and on the radio yest i heard where a father daughter got stuck in a wash (in a 2wd) and then lost in the middle of the desert but didn't say anything about them being in trouble for being places they shouldnt be... I would assume the washes would be off limits...but what else I see lots of trails everywhere and i know lots of folks go down them in atv's and dirt bikes but I was curious is to the legality in all of this...i know back home (NC) I went whereever it wasnt posted (although I could have gotten in trouble) but i figured if its not posted then i'm not aware that i shouldnt be there... I know there are also a good couple of OHV parks out here which I would like to explore sometime.... Thanks

do you actually get the magazine or just read online? They had a nice big fold out with the top 10 on there...im mad that i lost it somewhere in my disastrous packing...i think it was in the magazine like 4 months ago or so...i was curious of the online portion matched up with the magazine timeline

some other silly things to check...it still in fact does have fuel...check all the plug wires to make sure they're all still connected good..and before pulling the entire TB cover off i would pull the top off to make sure the belt is tight (just to verify that the tensioner didnt break or wasnt tightened down) and then if you dont locate anything else i would pull the cover off and verify everything
-
damn on that bent valve....whats the piston look like? i bet its got a nice mark on it
-
WTF u didnt stop gut it and throw it on top? glad u werent hurt...but if a deer messes up my ride im gonna at least eat it...
-
ok i lied...just went back through and it let me do it...i must have accidently picked something wrong earlier edit:i put the 95 earlier and just did it now and it says no...but the 87 is good to go...i guess that confirms that the 95 is a fat ass...(it always gets stuck and i swear its weight related and the tirecarrier)
-
when i put in the pathy it said i couldnt tow it
-
i thought about trying to rent a "tractor trailer trailer" and loading both my pathys inside with all of my junk and let them come and pick it up and fly out...then gf kill me when i unloaded it
-
hmmm this is getting very tricky...i can get the penske cheap but no trailer...or i can spend a lot more money on a uhaul and spend more on gas and tow with a trailer... but slick u r saying that i can tow my 87 on a uhaul trailer with 31's correct? and you could possibly match the penske price with the AAA discount and online discount? if u could do that i would owe u big time...but no way to get a diesel? i will assume that the gas will get a lot less mileage than the diesel under a load but could be wrong...i've gotta figure something out before the 6th of June b/c thats my last day and i plan to leave the 7th or 8th... if the @!*% breaks down on me will they come fix it or change my stuff from truck to truck? i have the worst luck ever and making the drive in 3 days and i dont need a couple days for a busted truck... Mich when do you leave on your move? if its b4 me i'd like to know if it all works out for u...with the ratings of the trailers they should be able to withstand at least 2x its rating as a factor of safety...my 87 is pretty light i think...it has a lot of stuff missing and not really plalnning on packing anything in it...i will need a 22'er with my toolbox, air compressor, weightbench, engine hoist, engine stand, engine and prob a spare set of rims...i'd hate to run up short on space... i also want a bench seat...b/c i dont plan on using $ for hotels...truck stops it is...and a bench will make a good enough bed...
-
hmm im going to have to register for an account at AAA i believe...what size tires are you running...i dont feel like doing the conversions for 31 10.5 r15s but i think they will be ok can you pull a uhaul trailer behind that truck? its about a $300 savings to go up to a 22' truck for me and i bet the gas mileage is better with the diesel...maybe not the $500 they say but i would feel better diesel than the gas for that haul...
-
good luck with that...hope u find something cheap and easy

Strange Noise Coming From The Rear

if its on the drivers side and you have a 3rd tail light or wiper it could be the harness/plumbing for the washer fluid
