  1. well after this past weekend what i accomplished: Removed old motor Installed new hooked up vaccum lines and coolant lines plans for weds & thrus: remove both fenders and run 95 harness and hook up to engine install pilot bushing and clutch install tranny (time permitting) swap gas and brake pedals plans for the following weekend (i have to go be in a wedding this weekend): if i get the remainder of my harnesses and clutch pedal install those swap fuel filter change steering columns hook up new dash hopefully give it a crank
  2. i run 31 10.5's on both of my trucks...but the rims that are on my 95 have a different back spacing and rub like a SOB on any kind of flex... this can be seen below...this was on wolfden at URE and i had no clue that i was flexed near the max until i hear the tires rubbing on the inside of my fenderwells when i promptly stopped got out and was very disappointed...i ran the same trail in my 87 and never got any sort of tire rub except when i turn to the max b/c i never adjusted my bumpstops... so if ure still on stocker rims i'd prob stick with the 31's unless u plan to give her a lift
  3. that and that nice lil leak his tank had...hopefully here in about 3-4 weeks i'll be able to tell yall what kinda gas milage i'm getting out of his ole motor... my 95 gets 19-20 with mostly highway milage and i've got a hellatious exhaust leak to the point if i lay off the gas and let it coast it kinda whistles along with a dirty cheap air filter so i think if i fix the exhaust and a new air filter i'll be getting about 22 on the highway...thats what i avged in my 87 on the highway and it got 16-18 in the city with a small exhaust leak
  4. yea mine is a really loud howl on cool/humid mornings drive it till the wheels fall off well hopefully it'll last for a while longer
  5. ok maybe i messed this up with my 1st motor it being a maxima motor...but the insde of the crank looks the same on both of those and i know the pilot bushing went in just fine on the maxima motor... does any 1 have a pic of this adaptor b/c the only thing i see in the back of the crank is something that resembles a freeze plug...
  6. no im going auto harness to manual...but im going from 95 to 87 but doing everything except for the ABS b/c it sucks IMO... well that seems to be promising...i got the old motor yanked today it'll prob be 2 weeks B4 i get the other 1 in... and yea i think its 4 wires all of which are minor detail...4wd light, reverse light, speedo and something else...and i think i could use the clutch assembly i have in there right now im just not sure on the connectors from 87 to 95 i know theres an extra sensor but i think thats b/c i have cruise in my 95 and my 87 doesnt...but this gives me a lil more confidence in my operation... if all goes well i think it'll be friggin sweet with the 95 dash and a lil more power in the 2 dr...esp so i can move onto some lift then lockers, and some more serious trails but im gonna keep my fingers crossed and hope this all works out before dec...and i still have to put the drivetrain out of my 75 trailduster into my 64 scout before then too...too much with no time
  7. ok now i need more details..... so u went from auto to manual...from ure profile thats a 91...and ure saying u didnt change anything else? did u pull the shift box or anything like that or switch wiring harnesses anywhere? my project is: putting a 95's (auto) harness with all of its components into my 87(manual)... so i was thinking i'd have to swap the ECU's add the clutch and tranny harnessa and possibly the harness to the gages and fuse block but it seems like u did not have to do that?... does any1 know the differences in the 91 and 95s...
  8. wow that waterpump seems high...i think i paid like 60 for mine and it wasnt a reman...from napa and i believe i'd get the belts at a parts store for ure ac fan and pws no idea what that is...assuming its that 3/8 by 3/8 steel stock that fits in the keyway of the crank and harmonic balancer?
  9. well IMO just b/c ure on the same forum doesnt mean nething...if there was something i wanted/needed and me and a buddy were bidding on it i'd bid until it hit a price that wasnt worth it to me...so in saying that its an auction if u were only willing to pay $50 then thats all it was worth to u...if it was worth more u should have bid more but i agree it pisses u off when u get outbid by $1.00...the most i got pissed off was when i was going to try to put a SC on my 87 b4 i broke it and it was a town away and the buy it now was $350.00 and i had bid $100 and with about 2 mins left somebody did the buy it now instead of outbidding me...so i guess they wanted/needed it that much to pay 250 over the current bid or just didnt want the headache of dealing with bidding
  10. boooo disappointed...i figured that'd be perfect for Europe neways b/c they dont seem to have the sex sells mentality like America
  11. very true...my 87 doesnt have any rust my 95 had some from the fender flares but i sanded it up and painted it...after wheeling in either of trucks or if i go out in the snow i always wash the underside...including flushing the inside of the frame rails with the hose...its amazing how much mud/sand/muck comes out of there and i'd hate for the rails to rust from the inside out
  12. believe fj is toyota... how many of yall try to see how much u're trucks can handle in 2wd?...i always like to see what she can do in 2wd...last week when i was at cape hatteras i left her in 2wd to see how far i could get B4 she started bogging in the sand...we made it all the way out and there werent many people on the beach so i put it in 4wd b4 going cross ruts b/c i didnt wanna push my luck...but i've had it burried to the frame in 2wd and locked her in 4h and pulled right out... i have always been impressed with their 4x4 and those who have been with me were impressed esp for stock
  13. its not hard to change...u might have to pull some carpet up to get to it...u unhook it from the drums...then back it out of the supports and unbolt it from the floor and pull it up thru the floor... i have an extra 1 if u want to work that into the payment of the things i requested
  14. i donno if NOAS is running anytime soon but once i have my 87 project done and the temp cools off i plan on going up for a weekend and camping..i'll shoot u a PM it'll prob be a good month or 2... well theres still some good trails back there but those are the 1's that are rutted out too bad and if you dont have some1 with u u have a good chance of being screwed... if u go past it and go across 29 pull a Uie at the 1st spot u can theres a trail cut back in the woods there...i havent checked it out but thats 1 of the 3 places i want to check out in the area...i have a feeling its going to be really swampy
  15. yea the clutch switch was another thing i was going to have to add on
  16. those will prob last a lil more but i didnt want to take the time to figure out how to get the rest of that stuff to plug up... for the hole in the fender for the battery tray...can u run a couple of strips of angle from the front cross supports to the fender and set a piece of pressure treated plywood or sheetmetal across it to mount it to?...u gotta pic?
  17. im actually in the process of putting a auto wiring harness in my manual truck and from what i guathered at least...the part #'s on an auto ecu is MECM-v277 and an manual is MECM-v260 (it might be vice versa) also when going from auto to manual on the wiring harness u need to change out the harness that goes from the main to the tranny...i think disconnect the shift box thats located in the rear of the truck and change out the cruise control stuff (it goes to the fuseblock up to the vent on the drivers side and to the gages) and theres some other things im sure i disconnected but i looked at the harness to the diagram to see the diff between the manual and auto harnesses and thats what i found...once i have obtained all the pieces im going to give it a whirl and hope it works....
  18. pics...the sliver is the new and the other color is the old on the 1st pic where the new meets the old is where i clipped the old loop off....
  19. well sorta...im working on it...my dad wouldnt ever take me hunting b/c he didnt hunt and wouldnt pick it up...so i've been learning a lil bit here and there with my buddies from school (which now moved away cuze of jobs grrr) but hopefully someday i'll make a decent hunter... i could go for some deer jerkey or burgers right now
  20. Glad to see u got it out of the car and installed without any issues
  21. on my 87 and 95...i went and got a terminal from napa that has the bolt going thru it to tighten it up and cut off the OEM ring so i had the connector for all the plugs still and ran the original bolt thru both of them (to keep the same size on pos and neg) and it works like a champ on both...if i remeber i can take a pic when i get home from work if u'd like
  22. when i started school here there was nothing here just woods all around and now charlotte has moved outwards like most big city's and is pretty much growing rapidly towards harrisburg....yea i need to get my 87 runnin so i can go rompin and stompin to discover new trials
  23. so about a month ago they started cutting what i thought was more fire breaks in the woods near the house i use for wheeling...today i went out to dinner with the roomate and over 50% of it now is cleared flat getting ready for an apmt complex to go in... y did they have to go and ruin my trails and the very small remaining woods that the family of deer had left to live in...they were suppossed to be growing up so we could go bow hunting sssh :sniff: now i have to go investigate more trails that i've been needing to do for the past 4 years and they'll prob develop those next
  24. when i worked (or was borrowing their garage to change the timing belt after breaking it and discovering my damages while pulling parts for them when they needed them) at a junkyard i saw this happen...it would run like a champ off of ether but nothing and i was like swap the fuel lines and they swore they were right and i'll be damned if it didnt crank up after they swapped them... so def worth a check and i'd also check fuses and make sure u hear the fuel pump priming up...how long did the gas sit? did u use stabil? but i'd go back and recheck everything...
  25. i bought a corded ryobi for like $60 at home depot...the only problem i had with it was they didnt lock tite the studs for the guide and they vibrated out so i put some on them tightened it up and if u've seen the pix it let me cut up wheelmans pathy into 3'x3' squares in less than 2 hrs...those blades are awsome i went thru 2 of them but thats b/c i should have gotten a 6" instead of the 9 and bent it a couple of times which lead it to break b4 too long...
