  1. My a/c went to crap about a week ago. I turned the pathy on with the a/c for about 5 min, then got the familiy into the pathy to go shopping and then I saw some mist fly from the driver side of he hood and thought the radiator went to hell. Turned around quickly to inspect and as soon as the I popped the hood open, i smelt the freon. now I don't know if it's a hose or the compressor is screwed up. What could have caused this. Isit possible for the a/c condensor to clog?, if this is even possible? I'm going to have it checked by a guy I know. I really hope it's not the compressor cause it costs $300.00 brand new from checkers. Or i can go the bone yards and hope to find one that works. i really need the a/c cause it really sucks to drive around here with no a/c, it friggin gets to 115 easily here in AZ, Vengeful can vouch for me! I hate taking my family out in this heat too.
  2. Yeah i'm not really worried about that. I thought that they looked pretty cool and use them as step rails would be functional too. Hey Sammy, maybe you can fab them for me :contract:
  3. I'm not too worried about clearence, cause i don't go thru bogs or rocks.... cause all I have around here is sand! plus with the trailmaster lift, it should not be a problem.
  4. For now I have a kill switch, factory alarm doesn't work, will replace as soon as i have some money. What I want is keyless entry and remote start.
  5. I was planning on modding these for the pathy. I drew them in paint, but this is how it's gonna look, more or less. i was planing on buying the type of steel tubing used on sand rails, or maybe even roll cages, or use a smaller diameter tubing. all this will go in as soon as I install the trailmaster susp lift. This isn't my pathy, I got this online since I didn't have a pic of the front for mine.
  6. Yup, and that's where I come in. I installed the thorleys on my pathy and it was all a direct bolt up, no problem what so ever. the egr tubing to the header was a little hard to bend, so i had a shop cut and put in a longer piece of tubing to fit in with out bending. The results: Well I was extremely happy with the out come. I got better throtle response, I guess you can say I got more ft/lbs and hp, since it is noticeable, and I can even hear the exhaust gases pass thru the headers. It's awesome. i would really recommend this mod for any pathfinder owner. As far as the recommendation from thorley about not installing on lifted vehicles, I saw no problem or anything to obstruct the install and may pathy is t-bar cranked and jgc on the rear.
  7. Sorry to hear about your rig man. That really sucks, and I fear things like this happen to my truck everytime it's on the road. You really never know what can happen. I hope you end up buying another pathy, if not then good luck in your search for a new rig.
  8. According to some of the info I gathered, the earlier Maxi's came with 222 stock. unless the info I found is full of crap. If earlier Maxi's came with that type of h/p, then screw it, might as well stay with a pathy engine.
  9. :o I get about 220 mpg! Man this sucks. I think i should replace the cap and rotor, maybe o2 sensor, wire set, hmm what else. Things that have been done: Clean air filter 3 month old plugs headers, more recently cleaned maf sensor cleaned t/b with clearner about a month ago With the type of mileage you guys are getting I should be at least half of tank or may be less. I drive to and from work 4 days out of the week, that's 24 miles round trip. My guage is at 1/4 every friday when I fill up. I drive about 65-70 to get to work. I'm going to have to experiment with going 55 for a week, to see what type of mileage I should be getting.
  10. I couldn't get it, and by the time I was to said nut, it was freaking 11:00 pm. I didn't finish until close to 2 am. That was the only nut that gave me problems. everything else came off pretty easily.
  11. Cool, so it is possible. I really wanted to use something 90's up, but need more info. I guess I'll talk to my mechanic friend and see what suggestions he has. The engine isn't bad, or has been giving me any problems. I have a minor vacuum leak some where behind the block, or a round that area. At first i thought it was due to the exhaust manifold, but once I swapped to headers, I still heard it. I don't think really affects the performance that much, except for some slight accelaration, and milage.
  12. yeah, i sometimes wish the pathy came with a roll down rear window like the 4runners do, tried thinking of a way to do a mod, but got lazy.
  13. Thanks, glad to be part of the club. I really like the mod, now I have to re-tighten some bolts, especially at the collecter flanges.
  14. Here's the linky: http://nissan4wheelers.com/groupee/forums/...131#36410576131
  15. Sorry to leave all you guys hanging about the install. I've been really busy at home and work. Well here are some pics that i took during the install. All old manifold and y pipes removed from engine. Let me tell you, it was a B**** to remove it! This nut gave me hell to remove. It was on a nut that it was on the collector from the y pipe to the muffler. It was siezed, tried spraying wd-40 the hell out of it and it didn't work. My brother helped me out in removing it with tools. Sent it to a local shop to extend the egr valve tube to the header. Over all I am very pleased with the out come of of the headers. After 14 hours of labor , and feeling sore all over my body. It was well worth it. The throttle response is waaay better, acceleration is quicker, and the tone is deep and aggressive. I would really recommend this upgrade to any pathy owner.
  16. It is recommeded to change the t-belt every 60k miles, if you are not sure then I would strongly recommend to change it, along with the t-stat, water pump, and radiator hoses while you are in there. If the t-belt breaks, then it would cost you a lot more to repair the vavles after they bend. here's a write up; http://www.jimbennett.net/timing_belt_replacement.htm
  17. I want to do some planning ahead and was interested in doing the maxima swap, or may be swap the heads from a n/a 300zx. I think some of the members here have done the engine swap, don't know about the heads though. I was reading throught the forum and it seems that the 300zx would need to come from a pre 89. I really would like to have a newer engine. I also remember 88 mentioning about swapping the heads from the 300zx. Question is which year for maxima engine and heads for 300? If I do the swap for the heads, would I probably be pushing about 200 h/p?
  18. Yeah, ask about milage, compression testing, what components were replaced, (especially T-belt), if there are any gaskets that need to be replaced and most importantly, warranty BTW welcome to the board
  19. The K&N intake should give you a moderate performance boost, gas milage wise you should be looking at at least 4 mpg. Make sure the kit includes a heat shield to avoid sucking in engine heat, if not then you may not see any performance. I think it's a worthwhile investment.
  20. The bypass hose is fine, no leak, and haven't done a compresion test, I reburpped the system and had the heater running full blast, it seemed to help out, I haven't really tested it out running idle for a while. No loosing coolant, no white smoke, or foamy oil either. I'll check with the local NAPA store for hardware.
  21. Thanks Nutz. Are the studs you are quoting me from the stealership? if not from what auto store. i checked with checkers and they don't have any studs, they only have them for chevy v8's. As far as the head gaskets, I'm really starting to reconsider replacing them. I know it is not header related, I just thought of replacing them since I haven't found what my temperature problem is yet. Here's he post I was reffering to: http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=8449 No leak from heads.
  22. sounds pretty good, post our truck's pics and off road.
  23. Thanks Slick, will change out also That's the same thing I was thinking, the hardware does not look stock. I think the PO was in here before. i hope it's not that hard to replace, the nuts don't look like they're gonna break, but you never know. PB blaster gonna be my best freind. well I figuered that since I'm in here I might was well replce them. As some of you might remember from a prevoius, post I still have a temperature problem, t'stat, t'belt, hoses, radiator cap, radiator, and 16" e-fan are new and I still have a temp problem. The only thing I can think that my be wrong is the head gaskets. Thanks for the advice Earth, I'll be getting ready for the header replacement.
  24. That's what I'm saying
