  1. I'm willing to bet why he doesn't have a front driveshaft, because he has a Dana 44 up front. Even upgraded Dana 44's couldn't handle putting power to a 40"+ tire. Speaking of which how the hell is the rear diff holding up. I know the Nissan rear diff is tough, but I didn't think it was 40" tire tough...
  2. Welcome! Did you push down on the 4x4 shifter while trying to put it into N? It won't go into N or 4lo unless you push down while pulling back. Hope you get the pathy! Also were you Neutral before you tried shifting the transfer case into N?

  6. Yah that's usually how it works. You're just not supposed to know who your Santa is ahead of time.
  7. The best damn cover of Hotel California ever
  8. I currently have a cheap 1080i LCD TV, and I have done a LOT of research into HDTVs. I am also currently looking to upgrade to a 1080p TV so all of the following knowledge is very up to date. OK first off all current generation Plasma and LCD TV's will last at least 27 years (based upon a daily average use of 6 hours). For earlier generation tv's this wasn't the case but the technology has improved greatly since then. Currently the main reason to buy an LCD TV over a plasma is lower price. LCD TV's also use less electricity than plasmas. Rear projection TV's are nice. Big and cheap is a winning combination. However since they are a projection TV eventually the bulb will burn out. And while most bulbs are user replacable, the bulbs are usually pretty darn expensive. Personally I am looking to buy a rear projection TV soon. You definatly want at least a 1080i tv. All HD programing is broadcast in 1080i, if you get a 720p TV all of your HD channel signals will be downscaled to 480i! That's right you might as well just buy a standard def TV at that point. 1080p tv's are widely available and are very affordable now so there is no reason not to get one. More and more devices will be using 1080p as time goes on as well so you might as well buy a 1080p tv. Now don't forget if you buy a high def TV you need high def inputs! Just because you have an HDTV doesn't mean that everything you see on it is high definition. Most basic digital cable packages include several HD channels. You should talk to your cable service providor and find out what's available. If you get an antenna you will be able to capture over the air high def channels FOR FREE. That's right free. DirectTV also offers HD over satelite. I'm not sure on the pricing but I'm sure it's very competitive. Neither your wii or your xbox will provide a high def signal. Xbox 360 models can provide up to 1080p HD signal if you buy the proper cables and can play HD-DVD movies if you buy the seperate HD-DVD drive (I think the Elite version includes the HD-DVD drive) (buy a version that has HDMI out if you can). All PS3 models provide 1080p signal, and can play blu-ray movies out of the box in 1080i or 1080p. What's the difference between DVD, HD-DVD, and Blu-Ray? DVD's are what you have right now. They contain 480p video. HD-DVD and Blu-Ray contain 1080p video. Neither Blu-Ray or HD-DVD provides better signal, the only difference between them is which movie studios support them. Currently Blu-Ray has a larger library and is currently winning in sales. Blu-Ray discs can also hold more information than HD-DVD discs, so the potential for putting more extras on one Blu-Ray disc exists. Regular DVD's can be upscaled to 1080p if you buy an upscaling DVD player. However they won't look as good as a Blu-Ray or HD-DVD movie. Personally I currently have a 1080i Westinghouse LCD TV. I got what I paid for and now it has some issues (doesn't want to turn on sometimes, and gets this weird red static after a couple of hours of use). I would suggest not looking for a good deal but rather buying a quality TV. Do your research, make sure that whatever TV you decide on is getting good reviews. Also check out www.avsforum.com They have a lot of threads on specific TV's. I also have a PS3 and several Blu-Ray movies. Once you see a movie in 1080 high definition you'll fall in love. You get to see so much more of the movie, it's as close as you can get to going to the theatre quality wise.
  9. Greetings from the US! Hope you find the answers to all your questions here.
  10. Welcome! Lots of knowledge to be found and shared here! Make sure to check out the Southwest US sub-forum, that's where most of us central Californians organize trips and meet ups.

    SAS...

On Xtreme4x4 last week they put rockwells on their low buck buggy. When they installed them they shaved the housing, since an offroad axle doesn't need the ridiculous amount of oil that the stock bell housings hold and shaving the housing gives you much better clearance.
  12. Photobucket automatically resizes your pictures. See: Otherwise resize your pictures you can do any of the following: Click the share button in your photo viewing application. It should then give you an option to export the photo, and one of the options should be resize (800x600 is good). Get a flickr account (flickr.com). Automatically resizes your photos into small medium and large sizes. If you buy a pro account people can also see the original resolution. Also I do believe you can use MS Paint to resize. If you're on a mac iPhoto has resize options, and GraphicConverter has really easy resize tools (a shareware app that comes with many macs).
  13. The more ideas I give the more my Santa will have to choose from, increasing the surprise factor when my package arrives. I'm not saying they have to buy me all of it. Although if you do I certainly won't complain.
  14. OK folks this is the thread in which you post ideas for what your Santa should get you! IMPORTANT! To all US members who got a Canadian member mail your stuff ASAP. Due to the strong Canadian Dollar a lot of Canadians are having stuff shipped to them from the US. Thus customs is getting clogged. So send it now so it will get there before Xmas! Amazon.com wishlists are perfectly acceptable, but you should give your Santa a bit of information about what you like too so they can be creative. If you're only going to do an Amazon list make sure to have a range of dollar value items. Don't just have it be full of HDTV's and other expensive stuff. So here's mine: I enjoy many typical geeky things: video games, movies, TV, and books. I also enjoy photography, and amature DJ'ing. Specifically: I have a PS3 and a PS2. I enjoy comedies, horror movies, and sci fi/fantasy movies. Blu-Ray movies are encouraged. My favorite TV shows are Rome, Deadwood, South Park, Venture Brothers, and CSI. I like science fiction and fantasy books. Piers Anthony, Robert Asprin, Margaret Weis, Tracy Hickman, and Phillip Jose Farmer are my favorite authors. I have a Canon Powershot S3 IS camera. I don't really need anything for it except maybe the telephoto lens. I am just getting interested in Digital DJ'ing. So DJ software or digital hardware would be a wonderful surprise (I have a Mac: 1.42Ghz G4 iBook so keep that in mind if you want to buy me software). I need a tow strap. I still don't have one. Oh and a hitch if you're feeling *very* generous. I also enjoy anime and manga. I prefer comedy and action anime. I wear a size Large t-shirt. If you send me something NSFW it had better be damned f*cking clever. Oh yes alcohol is a fine gift as well. Tequilla and Rum are my favorite types of alcohol. No beer or wine please. And if you can't think of anything good based on that here's my Amazon list: http://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/A2IV5CXP72IO
  15. It should definatly be Person A --> Person B --> Person C ... --> Person A You're not supposed to know who your SECRET Santa is afterall!

  17. Welcome! There are quite a few members from the Central California area (I'm in Santa Cruz).
  18. Well seeing as how I don't drink beer and my CV's are broken right now yes, yes I would. Would you save someone dear to you if it meant having to loose all memories of that person?
  19. Also the 4x4 Indicator light is not a good method to go by to determine if you are in 4WD. In my pathy the light won't go on until I'v been in 4wd for a couple 100 feet sometimes. I have found the easiest way to determine if you're in 4wd is to drive on to some dirt or loose gravel. Shift into 4hi drive forward a couple of feet, then floor it. If your rear tires spin you're not in 4wd. If you launch with little or no wheel spin you're in 4wd. Also do NOT drive in 4hi or 4lo on cement. When in 4wd you need to be on a surface that will allow your tires to spin to release binding in the drivetrain.
  20. Haha so that was your video! I know my video of Enjoi wasn't that great but it's hard to find a decent puddle of water in California during the summer. Welcome to the board!
  21. I think most of the SoCal Nissan members stick to the 4x4parts.com forums. I'd be down for a NorCal meet-up. That is as soon as I get around to replacing my CV Joints...
