  1. Ok pulled the covers apart and looked at the ignition switch The plastic end cap does wiggle a little bit, it's not tight. Is this the issue? Also the plastic bit is brown not black... That being said I got the car to start 5 times in a row no matter how I wiggled it while starting...
  2. I'm going to be Beetlejuice and my girlfriend is going to be Lydia. Unfortunately it's supposed to rain here tomorrow, luckily we've been invited to a party, so if it's too rainy outside we can just stay inside.
  3. Thanks for the link jgt. So that's part of the ignition, near the steering shaft, and I'v just got to remove the plastic around the steering shaft to get a look at it right? OK this morning the Pathy started three times no problem. When I tried to start it tonight though it started ran for half a second and died then wouldn't start running again for a while. Same deal as last night, heavy smell of unburned fuel from the exhaust, pumped the throttle, and eventually it started to run. And even then it really didn't want to, not firing on all cylinders until I shut it down and started it again.
  4. Hmm this could be it, because I did smell strong gas fumes when I was turning the engine over
  5. Checked the cap, the plugs, and wires. All were on tight, so unless somethings wrong internally I don't think that's the cause. Battery is brand spanking new, an Optima Red Top (which I'm really glad I decided to buy because it had no problem turning the engine over while I was trying to get the engine running) I didn't notice anything unplugged last night, I'll check again today though
  6. Actually I didn't see that post Could you link me to it?
  7. I think he's talking about the 6 speed in the Nismo Frontier
  8. So this evening I tried to start the Pathfinder and it wouldn't run. It turned over, but refused to start. I could smell unburned gas from the exhaust, so I don't think it's the fuel pump. I finally managed to get it to start by pumping the gas pedal while turning it over over a 10 minute period of time. Any ideas on why the truck isn't starting? Some more notes: it did this twice tonight, so I don't think it's just a one time thing. Once it started it ran just fine. Between the first time and second time it did this I got gas, so it isn't just low on gas.
  9. I really wish I could have made it. How was the turnout?

  11. Ugh Everyone takes nice old land cruisers then throws in a 350, an Atlas II, and puts Dana 60's from a Chevy under them. It's not even a Toyota at that point...
  12. Now that gas is hovering at around 3.50 it should only be about $200 in gas to go (assuming 16 mpg, I might get better since it will be all freeway and I'll be keeping it slow at 65) I'm still on the fence. I really really want to go. This next week at work will determine whether I go or not
  13. Bambena by Tomoyasu Hotei Woo Japanese rock n' roll! The guy is a pretty damn amazing guitarist. Although this song doesn't really show off his prowess. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qeNpBT8kPQs

  19. Well I'm still hopefully going to make it. Just a matter of whether I can save enough for it by then. I should be able to, I still have over a month.
  20. DUDE! How did I miss this thread? Welcome back Ben! Yes I did buy the bullbar, although I never installed it (it didn't really want to fit without some serious modifications, so now it's just sitting in my friends garage) I'm now working in San Jose, although I'm still living over in the Santa Cruz area (Felton). My 88 is still working like a champ, getting me back and forth to work everyday. Glad to hear you're getting an X. I'll be going to the October gathering, but we should make a trip to Hollister before then (I just need to replace my CV joints...) Also Froggy, you forgot about RIKK he lives in San Jose too.
  21. Just finished reading: World War Z by Max Brooks A story written in a interview style with people who survived a world wide zombie outbreak. Wonderfully told, it really seems like he was interviewing real people. The interviews tell the story of the war with the zombies from the initial outbreak, the world wide panic, the fight back against the zombies, and the aftermath. I'd give it a 5 out of 5 easy. Currently I just started reading Cryptonomicon by Neal Stephenson This is a story about "code making and code breaking, set both during World War II and during the present day." I'm only 48 pages in, out of 910 pages of story so it's a little hard for me to both describe and rate so far. Currently there appear to be 3 main characters, one WWII Marine who was stationed in China right before the war broke out; a mathematical genius who joined the Navy right before WWII but they think he's too stupid to even hold a gun; and finally a modern day man who shares the same name with the WWII math genius. He has just been introduced so I don't know what his role is. I can't rate it yet, but I will say it's been hard for me to put down.
  22. High RPM shifting... was the Power button depressed? Otherwise yes the auto shifts tend to be abrupt (the first to second shift under power especially so in mine). Sounds like it might be a good deal. Did you check for rust, on the frame especially?
  23. 02silverpathy, I would HIGHLY recommend switching to another insurance company. AIG is currently in a financial nose dive, and things are looking like they might get worse before they get better. http://online.barrons.com/article/SB121968...glenews_barrons
