Your entire cluster is electronic and they have known problems of dieing like that. If it isn't a fuse, it migt be toast.

I actually have a set of flares for my 88 because a friend with a HB bought them and tey didn't fit right....he was particular about things so it may have just not been exact enough for his taste???

The stock ones aren't any different. The only change on the stock ones was to the front end of the front ones when they removed the plastic valance. The Bushwackers however, as you can see in the pic you posted of Mr. R's, actually attach partially to the rear door.

I know a few guys who have added vents to the hood to clear heat, but not for the purpose of cooling intake air.

The only widebody flares we had in the US were the Bushwackers and they stopped making those about 6 years ago. My suggestion would be to buy the generic 6" stuff that comes on a roll.

I don't play in sloppy mud with that truck, especially anything deep. It has been hit with a good deep water crossing or 2 without issue. I have homemade lift liners to keep anything from splashing up from the tires.

I think that kinda defeats the TIG use of it. I think he put it there so he wouldn't be working over his storage. Nice clean bench man!

Why would they say anything unless they were doing a pass/fail inspection? To a mechanic working on it, "if it works cool" in their mind. I know a state inspector in VA who said point blank to all in our club (he's a member also), if he sees it, you'd fail.

Actually no, some of the legos use the lugs that go through the wheel (as apposed to the accorn style on the others and the steels). As for the lugs being long enough for a nut to grab, you should be OK. (BTW, these are Japanese vehicles not German, we use lug nuts not lug bolts .)
