  2. Not an option. Institution will not finance that old and I’m not shelling out $8 grand for a 3rd Gen 4Runner with 180k on it like most of like fools want. I live in New England also, rust is a huge problem. My Pathfinder is from Texas. They’re non existent around here.

  3. No. Without the limiting straps I was getting noticeable strut top out under certain conditions. Noticeable as in a large bang that was enough to make you say “what the — was that?”. The limiting straps work great, they cushion the top out extension so the violent top out is completely gone.

  4. So after a fun week and a half on the road and about 3500 miles, the Pathy did get some problems, P0011 on like the first 160 miles in. I brought my scan tool along on the trip and just cleared it and it came on at inconsistent times such as 40 miles or 150 miles. So after getting back, I changed the oil and found a long piece of something in the filter, didn't seem like rtv as it didnt have the same feeling. I took the pan off as well and found lots of carbon chunks in the pan, not a pretty sight but probably from the drive of getting really hot and non stop driving cleaning the motor out. After that I took the VVT solenoids out and cleaned them and changed the diff fluids as well. Took it for a test drive and felt like I had power again and ran smoother. That was a couple days ago, now today the CEL came back on for the P0011 and a P0152, so the fun doesnt stop. I will be replacing the O2 sensors for the P0152 and getting new solenoids for the VVT, checking the oil pressure to make sure the galley gasket underneath the timing cover didnt blow and go from there. 6. Hi guys . I am currently running an R50 pathfinder with 208,000 miles on it and other than basic maintenance and expected wearable parts it’s been tough . I am in search for a new daily driver work vehicle that can handle a lot of miles and hold up just the same as my current Pathfinder and was wondering if the R51 or Xterra would be a good buy. ideally I am looking to spend $7500 or less and I put between 20 and 30,000 miles per year on . I have also considered first generation Acura RDX, Subaru outback non-turbo as well as Forrester’s. Looking for the pros and cons as I would rather not drive a RAV4 haha.

  11. Carlisle makes the wheels and they also make green ball tires. there the same company. like Goodyear is dunlop and Kelly. Michelin makes bfg and uniroyal. brigdestone makes Firestone. Cooper-continental. one thing I have learned being in the industry and riding crotch rockets in the past is that you don't go cheap on tires and wheels. there the only thing keeping you planted on the ground. as far as wheeling we all know traction Is key to moving up and through a trail/track

  12. Honestly, a Forester would be a fun daily driver/trail rig. Decently capable, aftermarket, forum support. It'll potentially get better fuel economy than the trucks and will drive fine in the winter. Independent rear suspension will potentially give you better ride quality, but it'll make some of the minor lift options tricky. Biggest downside is that Subarus probably hold their value pretty well in the NE so it'll probably be on the pricier side vs like the RDX or something.

  13. Read up on SMOD (strawberry milkshake of death) if you haven't yet. Common issue on R51s and Xterras with the VQ40 (not sure of the exact year range on the Xterras), easy to prevent, kills the trans if you don't. I've read that the traction control on the R51 can't be turned off, which is annoying. Also obviously check for corrosion given where you are, I saw a picture of a rotted out R51 frame on the FB group the other day and it looked just like how the WD21s rust out! I guess they're real Pathfinders after all. The list of options you're looking at kinda begs the question of what you're really looking for. If you're just looking for a daily that won't see much off-road action or towing, I'd expect the Subaru or the Acura to handle better and be better on gas.

  14. I had an amazon set, but one flew off on the highway so I ditched them and got the in channel ones. After having both, the extra price for the in channel ones was worth it IMHO. The road noise on the stick on ones were irritating and it didn’t cover all the way down the front part of the front windows so I was still getting wet. The in channel ones sit much more flush and worked much better. Sadly I only had them for a few days before I sold it

  16. That sure was a quick run. I hope you pointed the owner in NPORA’s direction (or was it a dealer trade-in, if so, you should have left a NPORA message in the glovebox or just inside the owner’s manual).

  17. Plasti Dipped the lettering in the back, and played around with the front bumper. Might need to get the tabs under the headlights now too
