I want to install my 4x4parts front skid plate but I have a question I don't want to deal with removing this thing every oil change What do you guys think of drilling a small hole in the skid plate, like 4" or 4.5 " in diameter (big enough for my hand and oil filter to fit through)?? Does that kill the whole idea/integrity of a skid plate?? thanks in advance

Yes the lift will fit As far as the hubs, if you have the knob only, it will trigger the 4x4 light to flash, but according to Australians it is not a problem and they just drive around like that with no mechanical failures....

I forgot about the VQ requiring 91 octane fuel. This can be a problem in third world countries. Also, I am pretty sure that they do not sell a VQ35 Pathfinder in Mexico, only VG33, which can mean problems getting VQ35 parts down there. (but i can be wrong). But I have seen 2005+ Pathfinders down there so maybe i'm wrong. There definitely is no VQ35 Pathfinder in Australia so its very possible that its the same in central/south america. The gas quality down there can be degraded. It's actually USA gas over there, from Texas, but they have problems with contamination. By the way, I just drove down into Mexico for lunch today and gas is equivalent to $2.80 a gallon. And it's USA gas (Thanks George Bush, u are a true patriot)

HAHA! You have obviously never done the Pathfinder front struts, nor are you knowledgeable in business that revolves around labor. (Don't take that as a put-down). $20 a side for very hard work?? My struts took me an hour each to get the spring on and it was a lot of work. I compressed the spring, it was slightly crooked. Uncompressed it and readjusted the clamps. Compressed it, crooked again. Repeat this 10 times for each side, with a lot of cursing. $150 for both, just to compress and get the springs on, sounds like a legitimate price to me. Maybe even a good price. The guy had every right to look at you like you were crazy. To do the entire front strut job, a shop would have to make $400-$500 net on labor. Of course they make a LOT of money on the struts you buy so that absorbs some of the labor cost so it doesnt look so bad. Example: They buy struts for $25 each (or $50 for both front struts). The customer pays $125 each (or $250 for 2 front struts). Then another $250 labor, $500 total. The shop is making $450 net profit on the job but the customer does not know this. This is perfectly legal, and common business practice. If the shop were to put the real prices, customers would NEVER authorize the job where the labor costs 1000x more than the parts. If you asked the same shop how much labor if YOU brought your OWN struts, they would say $450 labor and no guarantee. This is a general example of how it works everywhere. If you already know this then I apologize for stating the obvious. I do appliance repair for a living. We won't even LOOK at a home appliance for less than $45 and that does not include any real work. You might think thats a lot but consider the overhead costs like renting a place, buying the tools, rising fuel costs, licensing costs, insurance, etc. Expecting to get a job like that done for $20 a side is ridiculous, the only chance of that happening is if you hire an illegal immigrant from in front of home depot and supply your own tools.

I think the brake bolts are important to torque. i did my last set without checking any of the torques and within a year my rotors are badly warped. ill upload the PDF file with all the torque amounts soon.

Well the 80 horses would definitely be useful... i'm sure it would help in offroading situations as well, i know my VG33 sometimes struggles to turn 4 wheels in deep sand, I know more power would get me out of situations like that much quicker..... vq35 probably burns the same amount of gas as the VG33 But what about all the minor problems we hear about the VQ35? Like O2 sensors, ignition coils, and the screws in the intake manifold backing themselves out? (vengeful i know u had a lot of problems with your vg33 but i dont know how, mine has 143k hard miles with no mechanical problems yet, maybe its the salt where u live??) I would LOVE the extra power (and exhaust tone) the VQ35 provides, but my only question is reliability, I drive deep into desolate Mexico several times a year and reliability is my #1 priority, I can not afford to have important engine components fail down there and leave me stranded (the only major one would be the ignition coils, since you can drive on bad O2 sensors and you can have the intake manifold screws locktited) Another question - since you mentioned u want the lever instead of knob - is the VQ35 even available with lever? The only ones ive seen are just knob or no knob at all (2wd what a joke)

Yup that tool in in the tool bag, It looks like a short, round length of tubing. It might even double as one of the jack tools but I can't remember! Also, some people with newer Pathfinders reported not having that tool, if I recall correctly.....

If it's well taken care of and not abused, you should see closer to 300k in my opinion. But i'm an optimist. We had a Toyota pickup truck in the family that did over 300k with only oil changes! We sold it to some landscapers, still running! Japanese engines are great! The only difference is the Toyota was chain driven while the nissan is on a belt. We are susceptible to that belt breaking and prematurely killing the engine.

Nice grill! I actually prefer the 96-99 tail lights over the newer ones. But it's personal preference. Dont forget that if you get the 00-04 Pathfinder taillights, while they fit, you will lose your reverse lights, cause those years had reverse lights in the tailgate.

When I wired up my sound system, I simply drilled a hole through the firewall for my 4 gauge cable.

Do you have an aftermarket alarm system? My 1999.5 with power locks does not do that.
