  1. my 95 did the same and it was a bad connection in the MAF connector. Stupid design has the wire going straight up and mine was actually hitting the hood. I could make the engine run like crap by pushing on the hood whioch would flex the wire. I removed the connector from the MAF and rebuilt it at a 90 degree angle and good solid connections. Never a problem since.
  2. Sorry Jay.. no input on these from me. I'm fully stock interior. I have had vinyl in other cars (some call it simulated leather but it's really just plastic) that would crack after drying out in the hot summer. Care and maintenance like using a high quality conditioner or treatment may extend the life. Other option is to go with some that are so cheap that they are basically throw-away when they go bad. Then just get another cheap set.
  3. here's mine. 4-door w/ tire carrier. Be aware of WHICH springs you use as there are lots of different ones on the JGC's linky
  4. pull no. 1 plug and put a long screwdriver in the hole. hand crank and watch for high point. Of course, there are more precise ways but at least you'll get within 180 degrees of TDC
  5. quick check... when it's running rough, pop the hood and wiggle the connector and wires on top of your MAF. Mine had a bad connection and ran like crap, stalled at stop lights etc. Fixed teh connector and all was good.

    Whaam

could have been residential... 25mph each way in a head-on = 50mph impact.
  9. good choice. I'm gonna go the poor-man's way.... have a winch that slips into my receiver. I'll just have to pull myself out of mud or up rocks in reverse
  10. I don't carry anything worth stealing (even when my wife is in the truck)
  11. heheheheh. My suggestion is to measure your springs (uncompressed length, coil diameter and wire diameter) and head to the local u-pull-it to do some investigating.
  12. mine's a nissan. Straight from the parts dept that was selling off all their crap when the dealership was closing down.
  13. I'd like to shake the neck of that engineer :furious:
  14. good news is that sensors tend to be cheaper to replace than the ECU. Stick with it... we're all waiting to hear what the ghost in your machine is.
  15. many. search will find you the answers. In particular with the 95's, you need to pull the door panel and plastic liner, get your arm and a small can of WD40 in the door and blast your linkages. Check for broken clips etc cause that seems to ba another problem that occurs (search on yellow thingie or thingy). I just did my drivers door last week and will do the passenger door when I put new speakers in. the actual problem is (if no broken clips) is that friction in the linkage does not allow your lock to fully open. When you shut your door, it is enough to tell your actuator that you pushed down on your lock knob (which you really haven't). Good luck.
  16. if it's the damned dinging when your door is open and your keys are in, it should be a little gadget the size of a flasher relay under your dash. Open the door and crawl under there. If it's the beep of the horn for the alarm, you're screwed. It's built in. edit.... on the 2002, the warning chimes are intgrated into the smart entrance control unit. It's behind the drivers side instrument lower panel.
  17. power locks are easy if you can shape your hanger to press the little lever/button
  18. you might have the + and - reversed on one of the speakers. I think I read somewhere that it would reduce the speaker output if yu did that.
  19. I certainly don't need to be reading a board that is constantly F-this and F-that like some forums are.

    Door problem

if you hit the button for the window or locks, does it make noise? Have you lost all electric to that door? That was my first thought. Second thing is to go ahead and pull the arm rest mechanism and work on tryign to get the panel off or at least to a point where you may be able to reach inside and release the latch from the internal mechanism. If you pull the panel on the drivers door, you may also be able to look at the mechanism and determine how to use a home-made slim-jim to get at the latch to pop it open. Good luck.
