  1. Hey andreus, I like the grease trick, thats a good one ! You'd have to match the diameter well though... I have also heard of drilling in to both sides of the ID and using a pick and a block to lever it out or using expanding snap ring pliers. All good ideas, its more what you have and what you prefer. B
  2. Sheesh !! At that point I'd tell them to forget it, that I'd handle it myself and they can come get the corpse in the morning... Maybe that would get them to show up ! LMAO about your closed road, are there that many idiots where you live ? I think you could capitalize on it somehow... B
  3. Probably the second clutch mws, maybe the first... Still, 4 times around the world, if the clutch is tired, OK !! Reido, the thing you are talking about is the pilot bushing. If in doubt, replace it; they are CHEAP. May be a bit tricky to get out; you have to pull it out of a blind hole. I didn't have to do mine as the old one measured the same ID as the new. As for if the damage is new or old, if you take ithe bushing out, clean it and look, a newer chip or scar will appear brighter and cleaner. It's not that hard to read the metal. Try chipping it yourself to see what it looks like. B
  4. Shocks and/or struts are the prime culprit for that, but bushings could influence it also... GL Bud... B
  5. Ahh, well, a lot of people don't have all that, but like to go recreational wheeling anyway (you forgot tire plug kit and air pump.. JK... I like the exhaust jack and will get one; very useful for many things... like getting 88 off of a tree stump) I think what MZ is saying is no matter how mod'd your Pathy is, if you dont know how to drive it/read terrain you will still wind into trouble. While you say that decent mods are only effective, but you stilll should have proper gear (recovery and personal) if you venture out. I couldn't agree more with both of you... Mods dont do much if you just charge into everything, and while a normal pathy can get places, the best driver won't get as far as they want... The trick is to have 2 Pathys; mod one and keep the other simple. I crashed my pathy, and after 2 shops the front frame is out enough for me not to want drive it this way soooo, for almost the price of having it 'properly repaired' I could SAS it myself (with a bit of help of course...). All I have to do is find a different pathy for 'normal' use... Do I go for a 96+ auto that the GF can drive, or do I stick with the 95- MT that I understand and like ? Hard choice... Bernard
  6. Nice Bud ! Looks slick ! The SL will do wonders !! B
  7. I agree LINDERS. My usual response to getting the finger (usually for some unknown reason) is to smile and flash the peace sign... Funny enough, it seems to piss them off even more... Thats alright by me; happy ulcers dumba$$. I guess it bothers them that they cant bring someone down to their level... B
  8. MZ, so you blow into it and light the exhaust fumes ? I'm not really sure what the respected results would be... Perhaps you could clarify ? B
  9. Happy B-day V !! This one is a milestone; the rest will just wear you down... Enjoy, but keep your head on !! B
  10. Glad you got it back !! I'd be working on other things than paint though; I thought this was a desert crawler, not a daily driver... Rustolium primer drunken desert camo seems appropriate... B
  11. Maybe the little motor is torquey (or there are some GOOD mods) and they reduce the gearing ? Maybe a good swap donor for running gear, tranny or even motor (some combo) ? I have seen a few like that (not as tall) around here, but never seen one go fast... B
  12. LOL JJ, thats great ! I'll bet the thing floats... B
  13. ^ I second that... Regardless, the guy will eventually wind up in jail where hopefully he will obtain a well deserved a$$ raping... I hate thieves !! B
  14. When I changed my clutch, I saw how crapped up the starter was, so I pulled it and used 2 cans of brake/electrical cleaner to flush it out completely... I'd say if you are right there, may as well do that... B
  15. The fact that you had an oil change the day before makes me wonder if the tech didn't bump or pull something loose by accident, and it finally disconnected ? I know this happened to me once with the alternator wire... B
  16. Precise1

    Gas Smell

Trace all your fuel lines that you can... B
  17. That is definitely amusing... I may have to do it for laughs... B
  18. LOL, aren't we done pissing yet ??? Sheesh... B
  19. ^ Definitely !! I fubiached my first drum brake job about 15 years ago by not thinking of doing that, then guessing, wrong... B
  20. I've never used a break bleeder system that worked worth a darn, but then I have never purchased an expensive one. I use clear aquarium tubing, a glass jarand a friend. Have them pump and hold the brake, while you loosen then tighten the nipple beforee they back off on the petal. Always bleed the fathest brake from the master cylinder, then the second farthest, etc. Piece of cake. Once you have done it a few times, it takes about 5 min per tire max. Oh, make sure you dont suck the resevoir dry, and dont get ANY hydrolic fluid on the paint !! B
  21. I certainly gave it a shot... darn near piddled myself too... That wasn't very nice ! B
  22. Yeah, I have confidence that it will work well... As for cost, I got a 24x48" 1/2" thick sheet delivered for $120 incl tax and shipping; thats enough for 2 large front skids. I'm sure I can find the material locally cheaper, but I wanted to get started right away... B
  23. Well Harbinger, do you ? A few unforgetables I have... "You have a large vocabulary for a machinist..." "Do you have a brass magnet ? "Do you know who I am ?" No, neither do I give a F... "Who do you think you are ?" Hmm, stumped me there... "Do you think I'm fat ?" "Are you riding your motorcycle ?" when I'm at a store counter in full leathers (and wearing a helmet). My answer was a calm "No, I just fall down a lot..." "Doesn't it hurt if you crash ?" "Is that you ?" "The check engine light has been on for 10 miles, the car is smoking, acting funny and something smells like it's burning. What should I do ? Should I stop ?" OK, thats enough for now; I seem to have started twitching after I typed the last one... B
